Re: Beginning a longer water fast

The important thing while fasting is to listen to your body. It sounds like you are preparing yourself for that anyway. You may be able to keep up your workout routine for example but be prepared to ease off on it if necessary. I suggest to prepare for a fast because I find my fasting experience easier to begin with if I prepare by eating raw foods, especially fruit, before a fast. This isn't necessary and a fast can begin at any time, it is far more important to break the fast correctly. The blood pressure commonly drops during a fast and people often say to take extra care while driving. Myself I have ridden a motorbike to work during a 30 day fast with no problems though I did have the normal 'dizzyness' the whole time. Just allow for rest time if you need it from work, whether the fast will effect it depends how your body copes with the fast and also how strenuous your work is. A crisis could leave you bedridden for part or all of your fast but if you are healthy to begin with that is pretty unlikely. If you weren't fasting you'd have as much chance of being sick so it's not a reason not to fast. If you do need specific professional help during your fast and there is nobody local there are fasting doctors who will give their services online. Unless you have any specific health concerns to begin with it's not something I'd worry about at this point.

Good luck,

Andrew.
