Re: supplements
I don't take supplements at all, never have and never plan to. Most vegans will tell you it's necessary to take B12 but most vegans are still not raw and the raw ones aren't the ones being tested to get 'normal' values from either. Until they accept the worth of eating raw and fasting and do proper research and studies on both that I can trust, I won't add anything to my body just because some 'nutrition expert' says I should. I haven't eaten any meat for 20 years, and very little animal products at all. I have avoided anything with B12 in it pretty much as a matter of course- not deliberately but because most of the foods that are supposed to be full of it I just didn't have as a regular part of my diet if at all. And I avoid fortified products like the plague. Artificial is artificial as far as I'm concerned. And to me twenty years is long enough to prove I'm getting my B12 from somewhere, whether my body produces it, or the naturally ripened from does as I have also read, it has to be there.
I am an animal, I'm eating probably a greater variety of food than most animals have in the wild and when I'm not eating junk food I'm plenty healthy enough. And I'm not gonna eat fish oils and dairy products just because meat eating researchers have decided that that's the only place we can get certain nutrients, no matter what convaluted excuses they make up for our diet today not being adequate, and no matter how many other vegans they convince of this.
That's my opinion on the matter. :)
