Secure Horizons/Medicare
I am looking to start a thread to help understand so we can make a better decision about Medicare vs. Medicare under Secure Horizons which is a managed care plan.
Basic question is.... my wife receives Medicare. When we were forced to go into an insurance plan as result of this administration's push to Medicare Prescription Plan D, we ended up thinking Secure Horizons was the best choice because it created coverage for medical, prescriptions, and dental.
Boy did we get some sticker shock when meds not only went up, but we hit the donut hole very fast. And we have also found that Secure Horizons restricts the coverage to in network doctors, rehab centers and so on. A procesure 3 years ago under Medicare provided the ability for my wife to go to a fantastic rehab facility. A similar procedure today, and we find because of Secure Horizons, we cannot go to the exact same facility even tho we used it under Medicare before.
So... can anyone shed some light on alternatives towards insurance plans other than Secure Horizons, in other words, has anyone gone into Secure Horizons only to find the restrictions were so great, they studied and came up with a better alternative using Medicare coupled with some other plan?
