Update - day 4 fasting at TrueNorth Health
Thanks everyone for your encouragement! (Fonty, golthing, Chrisb1, onegarden)
Chrisb1 - the weather here is in the 50s and sunny. Although I must admit that even being from Chicago-area it is a bit chilly here. But I also think that goes along with the fast. And, I must say I'm ever so happy not to be in Chicago with the one foot+ of snow they received yesterday.
This got long again, sorry!!! : )
The fast is going very well. I'm doing a 14 day fast (give or take a couple days depending on what the dr says) and then 5-7 days of re-feeding. Here they begin the re-feeding by giving you juices for the first two days, steamed veggies for the next two and then bring in grains and legumes. (The # of days varies by the length of the fast.)
This morning I decided to take a shower and oh my gosh did that ever wipe out all my energy. Now I am feeling very weak, tired and no energy. I did sit outside in the sun for awhile and that seemed to help.
So, no more headaches, the
Rheumatoid Arthritis is not bothering me and the ulcerative colitis has been in remission for at least the last two weeks. I do have to say though that the hunger pangs (not true hunger I know) are still here. They are lessening each day however so I'm hopeing they will be gone in the next couple days.
An interesting point about the RA, for the last couple months it was so bad that I could barely walk from my car to the office each day. Then I get here and all of a sudden the pain disappears - even before I started the fast. It was really weird and then I got to thinking that the climate probably has something to do with it. But I am not complaining. I am really enjoying being pain-free and by doing the fast and eating right it will only continue.
The one concern I have and hopefully someone can help me with this is I am concerned about the amount of weight I have lost in the past month. A total of 21 pounds. On Jan 1 I weighed 145 and now I weigh 124. I lost 10
pounds before coming here by changing my eating habits/prepping for the fast and now I've lost another 11 in just four days. I'm female, 5'6" and 124 pounds. I'm really worried that I'll become underweight if this continues. I recognize that some of it will come back after I begin re-feeding but I just don't want to be too thin. Can anyone help me with this concern? Thanks.
Talk with you all later.
