Thanks for the update compgirl,
your
RA will improve further as you detox. It's a pity you cannot go longer than your scheduled 14 days, but that will go a long way towards alleviating your symptoms and improving your mobility.
It is also vitally important to adhere to the diet (not reducing diet) that your Doctors recommend post-fast as the detox should continue and eliminate your
RA altogether.
Fasting is one of the best ways (if not the best) to cure your Ulcerative Colitis, by giving your digestive system a complete rest: a 14 day
Water Fast will be extremely helpful in healing this.
Weight loss is something that you shouldn't be overly concerned about because a revitalized digestive system will enhance the assimilation of foods taken post-fast as well.
Anxiety and stress can also play a huge part in weight loss, so a positive and relaxed psychological attitude will be very helpful if that is the cause.
Dr
Shelton has this to say about loss of weight during the fast.........
"What are lost
pounds to those who have recovered from their miseries, so that they may eat in comfort and with pleasure? After they have been restored to good health by a period of physical, mental and physiological rest, they may regain the lost pounds. There is this difference, however; after the fast the patient may put on healthy flesh."
"The loss of weight during a fast does not represent a loss of vital tissue, but of surplus nutriment, waste, fat, etc. It is just so many
pounds of "disease" that one loses. The muscles, for example, decrease in size. But this is due to a decrease in the amount of fat in them, and to a decrease in the size of their cells. There is no actual lessening of the number of muscle cells during the ordinary fast.
The weight lost during a fast is rapidly regained, if it is desirable to do so. There is not the slightest danger from loss of weight."

After my first fast of 25 days (which saved my life) I was almost at the skeleton stage of inanition: an involuntary reduced diet because of my Leukemia for several months prior to this, and then the fast itself, but I soon regained all of the weight I lost plus some, within a few months, and looked and felt healthy for the first time in my life.
Don't worry, fasting is your best option for your ailments by far.
Relax and enjoy the experience; you will be glad you did.
Warm regards
Chris
