I have only done a few 7 day fasts and I swear I noticed a difference in how my clothing fit within that 7 day period.
The reason your body goes into ketosis is the lack of
Sugar and carbohydrates. Although diet soda is defiantly NOT good for you, it will NOT hinder you going into ketosis. Juice, or anything with
Sugar in it (either refined or otherwise) will cause you not to go into ketosis. There is a great deal of
Sugar and carbohydrates in the juice (store bought, fresh, concentrate, or other). The whole low-carb craze a few years ago centered around the "dieter" being in ketosis, which you can also achieve by eating less than 20 grams of soluble carbohydrates a day. For me, it is more difficult to eat a little, than not eat at all. "Atkin's" and other low-carb ways of eating work just fine for losing weight, if you can resist bread, potatoes, sugar, fruits, veggies, etc.
