I think it's each person's decision whether to acknowledge, become and live as a soul (SELF-realization) or live as merely a physical body (denying the "living soul" that we were meant to be). When we were given the "breath of life", we became a "living soul", but as we grew up, many people have learned to deny the "living soul"/SELF and live in the physical world only (disregarding SELF/soul).

Heaven and hell are FIRST each person's choice/lifestyle on this earth. If a person chooses to live (and behave unjustly) with hate/animosity towards others and has no respect for OBJECTIVE truth, then they become part of "death and hades" and will be thrown into the "Lake of Fire" (the churches of Christianity do not explain the bible properly...because many deny SELF), God is THE humanitarian, a cosmic reality.
Colossians 2:18 "...insisting on SELF-abasement..."(dehumanization), "...appearance of wisdom..." verse 23.
Revelation 20:14 "Then death and hades were thrown into the lake of fire..."
It is those who chose to live as SOULS who will remain in God's favor.

When I was eight years old I had decided to simply WAIT until I was 18 so I could live on my own (it would still be a cold, heartless, and lonely world, but at least I might be able to change that for myself).

Yeah, God knew how the truly spiritual would feel (because He knew that so many people would make this life miserable for us), but that's still no excuse for suicide (I must admit, this was disappointing to me, but God showed it to me for a reason).
