Bubbles, you, your daughter, and her child are in my positive thoughts and prayers.

As a Survivor of domestic violence and abuse, I can only tell you to continue offering her your support. She knows, better than anyone else, that she is being abused and that her partner is becoming violent. One thing you can do is to contact Social Services. I hate to offer that option, but there it is - they might investigate, and they might not. Because your daughter is an adult, you can't drag her and your grandchild back home, which is a dammed shame, but that's the legal aspect.

The other options are to check out some of the sites, below, and (depending upon your State) there may be a number of intervention alternatives available. The problem that you are facing is that she is an adult. BUT, without making SOME sort of attempt at intervention, she could wind up a statistic along with her child.

Please, contact whomever you feel will be able to help you. The police will not interfere in domestic abuse cases unless someone calls during an "incident." In the meantime, continue to support and encourage your daughter to get the hell away, ASAP, regardless of her mother-in-law's wishes.
