Severely depressed people who think about suicide are so bummed out that they don't have the energy to bring themselves to actually carry out their plans. Once their Depression improves enough that they actually have energy and the motivation to perform tasks, that's when they'll actually go through with it. Therapy, herbs, vitamins, whatever you use to treat severely depressed people all have this "dangerous side effect."
