Re: Is plastic making us fat??

The problem here is that it is not just the plastics themselves and the use of things like vinyl fluoride, bromide, chloride, it is also pesticides, herbicides, food additives , fuel additives, cosmetics and personal care items, cleaning chemicals, industry and vehicle emissions, (many of which contain halogens, and most produced using them) etc. etc. People say and think they are avoiding these things but are they?

While they may find "links" to plastics being causative to the obesity epidemic, it is in reality a cumulative and synergistic effect of the whole, including a sedentary lifestyle, junk foods, lack of sun, fresh air, clean water, etc... but that is not what these researchers are getting paid for.

Focusing their efforts on single points like plastics, may be enlightening, but is missing the forest due to the tree they find themselves in.

It also opens the door for a "plastic" replacement(s) and $$$$ in the consumer market as people develop a fear of plastic. Stainless steel, glass, perhaps a "safe" alternative to plastic (polycarbonate that has been linked to chromosomal aberrations) that will be found to be just as bad, or worse.
