Still no sound, by MH
This second e-machine still puzzles me, I stumbled on to a page that allowed me to turn the sound back on after rebooting the kids first e-machine. This secoind kids computor I am not so lucky. I have had others try their luck and everyone hits a dead end, YET, I know it is identical to the other computer and by luck I was able to find the page.
It is as simple as this:
After reboot, there is no sound card in the computer, so I understand it comes from the motherboard, which gets turned off durring the reboot back to factory settings. The help section of the computer suggest it is in the bios settings, simple go to your bios settings and turn you sound back on, yet the help says it can not help you do this, you must seek a professional, or guess. The page I did stumble upon with the first computer was in the reboot section and said simple to click here to turn return your sound driver back on, yet no one can refind that page nore find it on this second computer. After 6+ hours of playing with it, it seems simpler to just buy a sound card and most likely that is what the manufacturers of the computers have in mind when some one reboots a computer.
I am surprised no one has had this problem and knows the path to turning back on the sound, makes me wonder if people just pitch their computer or just breaks down and buys a sound card. 10 years ago I had the same problem with a Gateway computer and I paid $85 for a sound card and had no better sound than the original sound.
If it was not a computer for the kids, I would care less about the sound, the computers I use I never turn on the sound. With out sound, the dvd player will not function or the cd games, etc.
Blessings,
MH
