iodine and cayenne both sound like bad ideas to me. I had this same thing. What helped me was C. silver and vitamin e. I washed with C. silver after each bathroom trip, and then rubbed on very liberal amounts of high quality vitamin e. I used food grade vitamin e, not the vitamin e oil sold for topical use. you can even even used the vitamin e as an enema.
juice fasting would also help, since it would give your bowels a rest.
