Luella, I fractured my hip!
Yes, for real!
I was planning definitely to meet Ben and Tony in Austin for the hearing. My son and daughter in law came for a visit last weekend and we went to lunch at Cracker Barrel on Saturday. I slipped and fell on some food in the aisle there in the restaurant and broke my left hip at the acetabulum (ball and socket) in the two places where the top of the femur meets the socket of the pelvis. There is also a small crack on the groin side where the left hip meets the pubic bone.
Fortunately, it was a clean break with no step downs or compounds or splintering. My bones are healthy! I did not require surgery~ thank you, Lord! They don't set hip fractures or put them in any kind of a cast, so I am just "here." More good news is that my vitals are great and my bloodwork came back normal. They found it "remarkable" that a 50 year old wasn't on any medications at all and was so healthy. So a big amen to natural healing modalities!
I did have to take heparin (blood thinner) injections tid while I was in the hospital since I ws on complete bedrest as a precaution against blood clots. I wasn't too happy about that, knowing my body, but decided to go ahead and cleanse it out when I got home. I was on Vicadin in the hospital and Noreco (narco!!) now. I can't describe how incredibly painful a hip fracture is. I know the drugs are hitting my liver. Praise God I did a liver cleanse and 2 rounds of Barefoot's cleansing herbs plus an almost all raw vegan diet plus a 14 day juice fast over the summer. I had been juice fasting and praying for Ben, intending to fast for a week except for the meal out with my family (which was a big salad). I have some BFC capsules which I just started taking, plus I am cleansing out all the nutritious hospital food I ate!
What I would like, Luella, is for you, Tony, Ben, Trapper, and anyone else who cares, to create an awesome healing plan for me. My ortho said that there is a definite risk of arthritis to settle into that hip now that it has been broken. Well, I just don't receive that, and am asking for some arthritis prevention stuff.
A physical therapist will come to my house twice a week to help me with my gait and strength. I have exercises I have to do every day. My church is sending dinners over for about 2 weeks while I am in this first phase of healing, but I have appealed to my family to make lots of salads and keep the distiller going, etc. I feel like I need to increase my protein intake during this time, so I am not on a raw vegan diet right now.
The PT told me it takes 2 weeks for bones to begin to knit together, and there is a definite improvement in how I should feel around day 14. Until then I'm not confined to complete bed rest, but I really do have to listen to my body. I'm using a walker, a wheelchair, a shower bench, etc to help with getting around and I am homebound for 6 weeks. Lots of time to pray!
So if y'all would like to work with me I'd love it. Cracker Barrel is paying for everything and has been very, very nice to me...
My kids want to pimp out my wheelchair so I need to go. Please let all of us know about Ben.
Love ya, sweetie!
