Date (year) iodine was removed from bread and replaced with bromate?

I have been trying to locate the Iodine removal information and the reasoning behind it.

Has anybody come across the removal of Iodine as part of food Science or public health policy?

Dr. Abraham discusses this subject but I want to look further.
