Re: Post op swelling and discomfort. Your experiences

I am 9 days after my inguinal surgery. My incision is 4 inches long. It is raised and hard underneath. It is not raised as much as yours; but is noticeable. There ws a very little blood that came through the bandage, in the beginning. The surgeon says that is normal. The people, at the hospital, says that this surgeon has performed very many of these ops.

I am considering dressing it with raw honey. Honey has enzymes that will keep it from getting infected and will keep the scaring to a minimum. That's what I've read. The problem is that I don't have any way to keep it covered with the honey on it.

Your's seems to have more problems than mine. If you think it is infected or not, try the honey. Look for information of honey and infection on the internet. It won't help the internal infection. The Antibiotics should.

I wish there was a way to tell if the repair worked. I have been sneezing a lot. I am careful to push hard before the sneeze, like the surgeon said. My sister, a nurse, says to grab a small pillow if possible and push hard.
