Newbie..help?

I'd like to lose about 10-15 more pounds, so I've been reading up on random diets, like the Warrior Diet, the Shangri-La diet, Tim Ferriss' diet (http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2007/04/06/how-to-lose-20-lbs-of-fat-in-30-days-without-doing-any-exercise/)
Anyway, I'm a bit confused. First off, low-carb and no fruit seem to be a general consensus when trying to lose weight. I get this weird bloating in my stomach whenever I eat something carb-heavy, so I might be getting insulin spikes or something. Anyway, I'm going to really commit to the warrior diet, and will have no problems eating some proteins like chicken and then lentils and veggies or something, but I'm concerned that I'll be getting too little calories throughout the day. Even if I'm starved after the fasting period, I'm concerned that eating chicken and lentils will give me under 800 calories, maybe even below 500. I'd like to lose weight, but I don't want my metabolism to stop? I mean, the majority of calories comes from carbs, but I'm almost concerned to eat them at this point..

Also, for some diets you get one day off. Tim Ferriss recommends that you go out of your way to eat everything you were deprived of during the week, to satisfy yourself and to also dramatically increase calories which helps your metabolism and assists in weight gain, or something. Do you think that this is a good thing to incorporate into the warrior diet, or no? There's so much information out there, I'm getting confused!!

Thank you very much.
