Re: God and Yah

iNan,

It would have been a much different world if Descartes statement "i think therefore i am", were to be inverted, changed into: "i am, therefore, i think". If this simple change were to be widely accepted it would be a much much different world than what exists now.
In fact, the worldwide acceptance of his philosophy is the reason why the world is in such a mess. The world is standing on its head because of this! For it is used as the basis for all education systems of all the societies that exist. At a very young age all children are learning this as a basis to live by -to think before they know who they are. And then the children grow up and run the world based on this deeply ingrained way of thinking... way of living.

If you look at this statement, the way he has constructed the phrase “I think, therefor I am”, it puts thinking as the prerequisite to being… Thinking is greater than being… This is like saying the thoughts about love or about god, are greater than love itself …or god itself… Its absurd... It insane! This logic basically declares that the mind is the Master. And "being" has a lesser role.

There is a distinct difference between the methods that Science and religion uses to search for truth. Scientific truth is based on objective observation and religious truth is based on subjective observation. Scientific truth is universal... religious truth is personal.
Einstein's theory of relativity is now a scientific truth... it does not have to be rediscovered by each person to know that it is true. It can be shown with incontrovertible evidence and taught in the schools so that children can understand it. Each individual does not have to go through what Einstein had to go through to come to the truth of it.

On the other hand, Gautama Siddartha's search for truth cannot be layed out in such a text book way. Each individual that wants to understand Gautama Buddha's truth will have to take that journey himself... alone... there will be no roadmap to follow... it cannot be taught and learned in a classroom. One has to take the journey by himself... and re-discover it for himself... it is not a commodity that can be sold in the marketplace. Beliefs can be bought and sold... but this truth has to be discovered... or, rather, uncovered by each one of us.

Don't want to hurt your feelings cause it sounds like you have fallen in love, to a certain degree, with Descartes. But to me he was a psychotic and the world-wide acceptance of his philosophy of "I think, therefore I am" has made the world to be psychotic... it is standing on its head... "i am, therefore i think" will put it back on its feet. And make it sane again.

best regards
