Re: In Plants Too

Couldn't agree more.
GM scares me more than anything else I can imagine. Globally I think it is possibly going to be a catastrophe - It has already been introduced to 3rd world countries by so called benefactors.
Research conducted in the UK found:
"In the tiny number of cases where tests have been carried out, the results have been worrying. A study in August 1998 by Dr Arpad Pusztai in Aberdeen found that young rats fed
Genetically-Modified potatoes for just 10 days developed growth-like thickening of the stomach and intestinal lining. Could the overgrowth of the gut lining be a prelude to cancer? This was highly threatening to the biotech industry, but rather than pursue these questions, the research was closed down, and Pusztai vilified and hounded out of his job."

Who knows what effects this will have on bacteria, parasites, insects and animals that come into contact with these new species.
GM life is in effect alien to this planet and should be treated with the caution an respect.
It either has not been thought through - or has been !!
