I just remembered about Oxytocin:

Supposedly it is involved in erotic love (cllmax in both men and women) and then also involved in "love relationships" (maternal instinct & trust-building, both non-sexual). So while we might make a distinction between sexual love and filial love, apparently oxytocin is involved in both kinds, so therefore this hormone is necessary for physiological processes as well as feelings.
