  Hey guys, new here. 51yo white male, 2nd generation type 3 , my son is 10yo and has the exact same version (we had him tested in utero). 70+ orthopedic breaks w/ 10 ortho surgeries. In my family we only count the majors. Fingers, toes, ribs, compression fractures, dont count. Basically if you cant cast it we dont count it. My brother 61, now in a wheelchair, due to an undiagnosed sponal fracture that went unseen for 72 hours (he was in a medical coma)
  
  So I KNOW that as my father always said, God loves me a LOT - I got off pretty easy (so far).
  
  Recently Ive seen 2 ads for "stem cell therapy" instead of joint replacement for hips and knees.
  
  Ive had 3 total hip replacements and 4 related surgeries, not a lot of fun, none of them went "as expected" I was told a year ago I need a new knee (right side). My mom who suffered from severe RA all her life had 2 total knees and had ZERO issues, climbing stairs day 2 etc. However she was a tough old bird and wasnt letting ANYTHING stop her.
  
  Has ANYONE had an experience with Stem cell therapy? M
  My current ortho surgeon ios a good guy, very optomistic, but he's never seen bone "material" as bad as mine. WHen the took the 1st right hip out after 3 weeks he said they lifted my knee up and it just fell out on the floor. NO cohesion nohing.
  
  so needless to say not looking t9owards any more surgery. Just looking for someone w/ some experience.

  I am not sure if anyone knows but is it possible to go thru life with osteogenosis and only get diagnosed as an adult? I am asking because beginnibg in August of 2013, I have broken 10+ vertebrae, 3 ankkes, 1 foot, 1 wrist and a toe. They say it is osteoporosis but I have some of tge other symptoms of osteogenosis. I know it is probably impossible but thought I would check, especially for my kids. Thanks.

  Hello Everybody I am new here and wanted to ask what can be done about microcephaly, I believe I have this condition as my head is rather small, my body is slightly abnormal when I stand up straight, and most importantly my forehead has a massive backwards slope. I will use many methods to treat this and grow my cranium is its at all scientifically possible, which I believe it is at my age of 19. The skull can continue to grow it treated with testosterone at almost any age apparently, and my theory is using fasting and intermittent fasting to boost testosterone levels and hopefully induce some type of "puberty" to grow my forehead and cranium. Intermeittent fasting will be something I may have to do for the rest of my life. I will also see If I can get steroids legally for the treatment of my head somehow. My diet will follow a strict weston a price based diet. as my chin is also weak and not at a good angle. and my maxilla seems to be not as well formed either. Other things I will try is incorporate hemp seed oil in my diet for its nutritional properties. I will also try ingesting 100's of grams of rick simpson oil over the years and applying it all over my cranium if I am ever able to financially afford it. If anyone has any suggestions on how to treat Microcephaly that would be greatly appreciated, so far the condition has not affected my mental capacity but I feel it contributes to my lack of health, and well of course beauty. thank you for reading. by the way I believe cannabis can induce osteogenisis and neurogenisis hence my reasoning for it growing the skull

      hey--
      this is off topic. sorry-- but at least I know there's enough OPers that will respond quickly. I was just at the grocery store close to midnight and some pothead in front of me is tickled pink that I've got red eyes JUST LIKE HIM (I don't smoke pot.)
      
      I've had red eyes for almost two months now!!!
      
      I've been on a liver cleanse for almost three weeks. My water intake is good-- 50 ounces to 80 ounces or more. I admit I tend more towards the 50 ounces than the 80 but still-- (I'm 150 lbs, so 75 ounces is how much I'm "supposed" to take.)
      
      I've also been on humaworm for about a week. This is my second time trying it so I'm not knocking it.
      
      I've had red eyes for...maybe a month and a half, maybe two?
      
      I don't have allergies or anything that I can think of that would cause it. There are days when I'm not online much at all and days when I am, and yet-- pink eyes. I notice it's really pink when I wake up and also at night-- it clears up a little during the day but is ALWAYS present!!!
      
      I can't figure out if it's environmental-- something in my house that I rent. I was traveling for a few months and came back in late May....so maybe the paint or my shower water??? I've never stayed in my house for longer than a month before since I moved in last november.
      
      I thought it was my liver. I though it was toxicity-- but I've been making sure to track my BMs to make sure I'm getting rid of gunk without getting to the point of feeling "clogged up."
      
      I OP 5-10 times a week, mostly with castor oil. Occasionally with Hemp Seed oil or others. I also swallow Flax seed oil with BHT.
      
      There were several days when I forgot to take the BHT and the eyes didn't brighten up from what I remember so I don't think it's that.
      
      
      
      Ideas? I'll know if it's environmental because I'm going travelling in a couple weeks but if it's not that I don't want red eyes forever!
      
      and I've been very good! I've only used Visine maybe three times. I also started using Colloidal Silver two days ago...but it hasn't cleared up :(
      
      
      eating wise, I'm pretty good: I eat mostly vegan food-- probably about 60 percent of it is vegan, and probably 3/4 of my vegan food is raw veggies or fruit. I have maybe 30 percent vegetarian...and this is pretty much pizza, or a pastry that I'll have with my lunch or dinner. and then ten percent, about once a week I have a couple servings of meat--chicken sandwich or sushi typically. My vice is the pizza, or iced tea-- but even with the iced tea I have less than I used to. I probably have about 25 ounces of tropical iced tea either every day if I'm bad, or every 2-3 days typically. lately it's been every few days. Lots of fruit-- maybe 6-12 pounds a week, typically pineapple, raspberries, cherries from costco (not organic, I know, but no one has organic pineapple! and it's delish!)
      
      not much exercise to speak of, but I'm up and around during the day, walking the dog to the deli for my veggie sandwich.
      
      I can't think of any other variables.
      
      please help me. this isn't depressing like being physically ill, but it does grind down my self esteem a bit.
      
      edit: uh-- I just thought of something...everynight I turn on my gas oven (I've got a really small guest house) since I turned off the noisy heater for the summer, and let it heat the house for an hour or two.
      
      um-- if the fire is burning off the gas..that wouldn't cause red eyes, would it?

        It's best not to use drugs like Visine. Try using cold distilled water with eyebright tea for an eye wash a couple times a day. Also orally you may try Horestail, Oatstraw and Alfalfa.
        
        If this doesn't help then I would back off all the therapies that you are doing and see if you get better. If you get better start each therapy one at a time and see which one is causing problems.
        
        No one likes looking like a Pot Head so I understand your distress. I wish for you healing and comfort. :)

    I know your post was more than a year ago, but I wanted to respond for any future readers. I doubt this is what your son has, but I have a sister with blue whites and it's because she has Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a fragile bone disease. But hers are more than just a tiny bit blue. IF your son breaks bones easily, it's possible he might have a mild form of this. But it is a rare genetic disorder, so I do doubt he has this. Blue whites is something doctors look for when they suspect Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

  Hello,
  My son is now almost 14 months and my husband and I noticed that two of this upper teeth (not the biggest ones) have an enamel that has worm away exposeing the more delicate lighter area of the teeth. He does nurse and I read that nursing actually helps protect the teeth and is un likley to cause decay because the baby swallows the milk un like a bottle where the milk can pool upwards. I think this probem is attributed to us not brushing his teeth like we should. We actually just started to brush his teeth and he persists. I wonder if we would of started brushing his teeth at the first on set of a tooth if that would of prevented this in the first place. I also read that some people are more prone to tooth decay. Well I don't know what to do now- we are brushing his teeth twice a day whether he likes it or not because we don't want to see any more damage. We don't have insurance so what can we do??? We are first time parents so everyting is still new to us. After being married for 8 years we got pregnant and we are still so new at parenthood. Can the worn away enamel grow back or is the tooth doomed???????????????????????????This has been weighing on my mind. Should we give him calcium supplments to help make his teeth stronger??? We can't give him cows milk because he is allergic to it- it causes him to break out in severe eczema. I removed it from my diet and his eczema cleared up. Also I have read that cows milk is not all is hiped up to be besides the calcium factor. Please help

    Tooth decay is caused by too much lacto bacteria in the mouth.The bacteria feed off of sugar,one of the worst sugars for tooth decay is juice.Here is an easy solution to help.after he drinks juice or has a high carb meal make sure he rinses with water,that will solve alot of the problem.make sure he rinses with water before bed because thats when your body stops making alot of natural saliva and when most tooth damage is done.

And enamel does not grow after the tooth is erupted. When it's gone, it's gone. Please don't neglect this problem as many people do "because they're just baby teeth and will fall out anyway." These teeth must fall out at a certain time to allow for proper eruption of the adult teeth. Otherwise the child's adult teeth become crowded without the baby teeth serving as "space maintainers", and may look like this:

      her doctor stated that this was due to nutrients either not being delivered to the tooth and/or essential nutrients/minerals being taken from the teeth and used during the babies development.
      
      Teeth have a blood supply indicating that they like bone are constantly maintained and retain their white colour. Dead teeth are often dark grey in colour but can remain in the jaw without discomfort for years unless they become loose.
      
      With proper nutrition and regular brushing teeth should require little interference from dentists.

    I am also worried about my sons teeth. The exposed tooth surface under enamel became dark, and the teeth are rubbed off some almost to the gum.
    
    But this only happening with the upper teeth, the lower teeth look pretty normal, which confuses me most.
    
    I am not sure what caused it, but these upper teeth were very soft from the moment they appeared, like nails, ulike the lower teeth.
    
    Dentists here suggested pulling all 6 of them at once under full anastesia. I think it is too much and believe it is better for future teeth that these, bad or good, hold the place. Also that my son could chew normally these years before new teeth come.
    
    I would really like to get some response from those who had similar problem. How will it be with the new teeth? Would they be as bad?

      What you describe sounds like Baby Bottle Decay. Do you ever put the child to sleep with the bottle? Do you ever let the child just hold on to the bottle even though it's not feeding time?         I have now started to wean him gradually from breastfeeding, which is another problem to be discussed in another topic.
        The only strange thing that is still unclear for me is: why were the teeth so weak and soft when they were coming out first? Teeth on the pictures from the above mentioned links look like they were good and then got decayed.
        
        Another question is: Are the future teeth going to be as weak?
        Providing that I always had had problems with my teeth, but my husband in the contrary has been to a dentist very few times in his life.

          Perhaps your child does have one of the rare developmental dental problems such as amelogenesis imperfecta or dentin dysplasia. I should stress that these are INCREDIBLY rare and often very obvious from the beginning. Tragically, the vast majority of dental decay is simply an imbalance between the amount of Sugar they eat and how well we parents are able to clean the teeth. If there are cavities, then hygiene isn't up to par, period.
          
          My 2-year-old will have his first dental visit next week, so that's when I'll get my report card!

  Erin was born in 1988 and lives in Fairbanks, Alaska. She has OI Type IV. She is 41 inches tall and weighs 41 pounds. She has had about 25 fractures, most of which were to her femurs. In fact, two of the femur fractures occurred before she was born.
  
  Erin's dad, Tim, also has OI Type IV, but it's not as severe as Erin's. (In fact he's a fire fighter!) Erin's six-year-old sister, Heather, is not affected.
  
  When Erin was four years old, we took her to Shriners Hospital in Portland for rodding surgery. She had rods placed in both femurs and hasn't had a femur fracture since. We were really apprehensive about the surgery, but now realize we would have done it sooner had we known how successful it would be.
  
  Erin has scoliosis, which she wears a brace for. It does seem to be keeping the curve from progressing as quickly. It took some getting used to, because it was uncomfortable, but she's adapted quite well to it.
  
  She also wears braces on her lower legs because they are bowing. The braces cover both front and back of her legs and the bottom of her feet. They have given her feet tremendous support, and she does not tire nearly as easily as before.
  
  Erin is in second grade and attends a regular classroom. She walks everywhere and participates in P.E. She is active in local theater and played Tiny Tim in last year's "A Christmas Carol." She is now rehearsing for "Wind in the Willows."
  
  Erin has a great attitude--she's very positive and outgoing. She's a real "people person" and loves to spend time with her friends. She does really well in school, loves to read, and is now learning how to play the guitar.
