I have lived my enire life in danger of all these mites, animals, barns, whole feed grains, old storage of all these things, bought and sold old houses that were full of dust and just anything, gardening and so much more...unbeleivable....then the dairy culture mite gets me...lol...
It also reminds me of a story of some ancients that lived through a drout. All the first born children died. The reason was the first borns were the first to eat, they ate from the tops of the stored grains, and then the others ate after them. And this article says the most vermin are found in the top 5% of the stored grains.
I have found this to be true in my working around animals and old barns my whole life...when the grains are stored up for winter, then they sit there all summer...when you get to them, sealed or not, the top layer usualy a couple of inches was always sort of sticky, kind of like it was webed from a spider, but no spiders ever were seen, guess they were storage mites...likely....didnt have my scope then, just always took the top layers and feed them to the chickens instead of the horses...now I know why my chickens often exibited allergic symptoms, like sneezing and such......solved that mystery....
Thanks!
And thank goodness I was always careful to not breath these strange dust formations!!!
