I don't get it - we are being told to eat foods or nutrients that bump up our serotonin levels because that seems to be the problem with us, with have low serotonin, and yet the name of the drugs we take SSRI - don't they tell a different story - Selective Serotonin Re-uptake INHIBITOR, they,if I am not mistaken inhibit the re-uptake of serotonin, well anyway I've been on Paxil (Seroxat in UK) for about 11years on and off and recently in the last few years haven't been able to come off completely, i.e. I get to 5mg and can't reduce to say 4mg without fealing terrible so I also am looking for natural ways of helping my tapering off plan.
I've purchased B Complex, and will also buy Omega3's, just searching to see what else I can 'arm' myself with to go into battle once it rears it's ugly head, I think there is a good time to come off and bad times and yet when your on the bloody drug everything is fine whether you have stress or everything is great, once you come off even heaven can become hell. So yes time is important when coming off, a good time is when your life is stable, i.e. not in the middle of a divorce, moving house, getting married, moarning the death of a loved one etc, I know that my life is okay at the moment no big stresses and yet I know there the time you come off isn't good enough, I mean there is never a perfect time - some say you have to stay on anti-depressants for life and I also belived that until recently.
I had been taking Losec (Omeprazole) for stomach acid/acid reflux for 10years until I found a website that gave an alternate and also letters from people who had come off the medication, the cure was the Apple Cider Vinager/Bicarb soda - I thought I'd try it - now I have been 4 days without taking my medication that I had been enslaved to for 10yrs. WOW! The site is EarthClinic.
And so I thought if it can happen with Losec then I can also get rid of Paxil naturally, well I have more hope than last week.
Some people say sunshine, sungazing, exercise, yoga, meditation, listening to very relaxing music and I would agree. I tried Kava Kava, and St. Johns Wort - none of these could touch my depression, it's as if I was taking
Sugar pills (placebo) no effect.
I'm glad to be only on 5mg of Paxil, my plan is to take something else elevate my mood and avoid real
Depression coming back, hopefully I can stop paxil altogether.
One more point although I take only 5mg as opposed to the norm 20mg dose, my brain feels something missing and so I have to fight the urge or another 'high' whether it's cigarettes, sugary teas and coffees, sex,
Sugar - it's as if the brain needs a hit of something, I think if I where on the 20mg I would have less of an urge to smoke for example and have sugary teas during the day. I stopped smoking but haven't stopped the teas yet.
I am also searching for an elixir for my brain, please help. And good luck fellow sufferers on our search. Contact me if you like, thanks. Gerald.
