My partner and I are going to do the fast in a couple of months.
I am HIV Neg and his is Poz. To fast, he will have to stop his meds.
Are you or do you know of anyone who stopped their meds to fast?
He is going to talk to his doc about it, but we all know what he will say. No. I just wonder if 13 days (10 to fast and 3 to recover before taking meds again) is going to do much to his TCell Count. He's only on one med, and is very healthy, as it were, just ha some weight to lose and he wants to detox to help it along.

MoreThis is a reply to # 865,369Don't know how the MC realtes to HIV but what I do know is that 10 days is just the minimum and you can't expect much from that. It takes the system around 2 weeks to fully adapt to fasting and that's when the cleansing at the deeper cellular level "starts"
I guess much will depend on what stage of HIV your partner has as to whether his system can withstand the rigeurs of fasting. It's very common in fasting to go through a detox crisis and feel like hell when in actuality it's a good sign that the system is releasing toxins and one should just press on. So my advice would be to find either a naturopath familiar with HIV treatment or a regular MD who is sympathetic to fasting to supervise and constanly monitor your partner while fasting.
You should also look into juice fasting since that is another cleansing/fasting modality that provides lots of nutrition while at the same time cleasing the system. In any case before embarking on this do more research. I believe that there is an HIV forum on Curezone and you might find more speficific answers there.

I think that people who have diaetes and other chronically medicated diagnoses have done the Master-Cleanse probably some while doing meds and others while stopping. I know I've read many posts to that effect. I don't see how hiv meds would be any different.
Also, some are skeptical about a virus being a cause of aids (Clark and Andreas for instance). If that is the case the meds might not be the best treatment for your partner anyway. Sometimes, if it's not broke don't fix it.

This is a reply to # 865,369I found it very upsetting to read the recent posts regarding HIV and the MC.
Leaving the benefits of the Master-Cleanse aside for a minute, HIV and antiretroviral treatment is very serious buisness. Even minimal, intermittent non-compliance (meaning you miss a dose once in a while) while undergoing antiretroviral treatment leads to resistant strains of the virus. Full stop. Period. The research is out there. There are now multiple strains of the virus and with each new strain comes the risk of a virus completley immune to current medications. I don't mean to scare anyone or come off too strong, but if a person is taking antiretroviral meds, they have a responsibilty to take them as directed. To do otherwise is to risk threatening our population with a disease no one can fight. More people will die until modern medicine finally catches up with the virus again and new meds are developed.
If your provider did not talk to your partner about the significance of missing even an occasional dose of antiretroviral therapy, then s/he has not served you well. I would recommend finding another provider if s/he is not giving you adequate resources. There is a lot of info out there and to be totally honest, the Master-Cleanse forum should not be your only resource when you are dealing with health issues as significant as HIV.
I have done the Master-Cleanse before and found amazing benefit in it. I plan to start my second fast on Friday. I failed my previous attempt because I was was not able to use the toilet as often as I needed while I was working. I took next week off - that's how much I value the MC, I'm a poor student who needs the money but I know the MC is worth it. But anyway, your situation is different then mine, and your partner's priority is to keep his viral load down. There is a huge amount that modern medicine is totally missing the boat on, but HIV treatments are amazingly complicated and important and modern medicine IS DOING A GOOD JOB AT REDUCING VIRAL LOADS. Really listen to what your Doc has to say, and then talk to some other Docs, some nurses, just please do youself a favor and TALK TO PEOPLE IN THE FIELD. And not just your primary care nurse who work in the day clinic down the road. There are medical professionals out there who specialize in HIV/AIDS.
I think it's irresponsible and unkind for someone to tell you that the person you are in love with may not be recieving appropraite treatment without giving any more information to you. Please don't listen to people who suggest HIV may not caused by a virus...well, maybe think about it later but for right now you have enough of your plate. Plus your partner's already on the antiretroviral so just work with what you got for the moment.
I'm in the middle of final exams right now (I'm in nursing school) so I don't have much time tonight, but if you would like, I can try to find you some resources that fit you two well. Let me know.

Welcome back Jillster!! I had wondered what happenend to you on your last start when you just stopped posting. Anyways great post if for anything else to not take this HIV thing lightly and to really get deep into researching the possible ramifictions of dropping the meds and fasting.
I remember that last time you had a really hard time getting the SWF to work properly. My sugestion is that in the next few days be real mindful of your water intake and try to get really well hydrated before starting this time.
I am on day 9 of 40 and today I had a very unusual day where I just was in this walking sleep mode. Tried gettin up at 8 am and just could not keep my eyes open so I went back to bed and slept till 11:00 got up did the SWF and stayed up long enough to pass it (1.5 hrs). Went back to bed and slept till 3:00 PM. I noticed that during the SWF I passed some usually dark and stanky butt pee so something musta turned loose in my system that made me so sleepy. I'm just trying to get through my last exam which is tomorow night and then I'll be back posting on Friday, can't wait. I moved into the city, I'm in a new apartment, it's a beautiful day in Boston, things are good! I was so frustrated from my last attempt at the Master-Cleanse that I just didn't go back and post... I'm sorry about that. I've been feeling pretty lame about it.

Talking to people "in the field" is just like asking an M.D. if mucoid plaque exists. The hiv/aids field is not exempt from bad science, bad treatments, and serious misunderstandings. hiv/aids is not a privledged disease.
People can and should listen to their bodies first whether it is the flu, cancer or "hiv". So many claims are made about hiv that are false that it is just plain absurd anymore. People think you can get it from a toilet seat, from kissing, from all kinds of casual contact, yet even the cdc acknowledges that it is hard to catch. People think that hiv automatically means death, yet people are living still since the begining and without treatments. It's not supposed to be that way according to mass media minds, but that is the case. Remember how in the 80's and 90's they claimed that even on meds people died withing 2 years? Well people lived too long and so now they claim its 10 years. But that claim, that only two years results in death...no matter what!...allowed the drug companies to push radical and not well tested hiv drugs onto the market. Even the doctors in the field don't know what hiv tests really indicate. They cant tell you what to expect, they just want people on expensive drugs. The fact is, no study has been done that tests if a positive hiv antibody test actually results in death by itself, without treatment. Hiv is the first diagnosis that was "discovered" at almost the exact time that the pharmaceutical companies "discovered" the treatment. The "disease" and "treatment" co-exist. The hiv professionals often fail to explain side-effects of their treatments and the patients are led to believe their illnesses and problems are from the "hiv" and not the side effects of drugs even though the drugs cause many of the symptoms that hiv/aids supposedly cause.
So listen to your body. Do what is best for you.

You just don't really seem to be taking this HIV thing seriously at all. You do seem to be quite conspiracy minded though. I'm only saying waht it seems like to me. So sorry if I offend you.
Last month, on April 14th at 11:10PM my husbands bestfriend (for 51 years - since they were both 4) died. Steve was HIV positive and had Hep C. Since he was in his 20's he has been an active prescription drug addict. He destroyed his liver through his drug use. He told us he was HIV positive three years ago. During his treatment, he would be on one medicine for several months - until it would become ineffective. They would then switch him to another HIV medication. He would take that until it also became ineffective. This repeated itself over and over. He received great medical care. His father is a doctor. He just couldn't keep himself from further poisoning his body (destroying his liver) with prescription meds.
It's the saddest thing I have ever witnessed. He wasn't gay. He pretended to be gay to get the prescription drugs that he craved. A friend of his (who was gay, and infatuated with him) was being prescribed 360 Percocets per month. Percocet, being Steve's favorite drug, made living a gay life seem appealing. So, after living as a hetero for the first 40 something years of his life, Steve decided to be gay. He lived to be 55. Who knows if he contracted HIV through his new choice to be gay or by his drug use? People don't generally contract HIV through the use of prescription meds, so most likely, he got it from sexual conduct.
His family is in such denial about his (obvious) drug addiction that they are much happier to accept that he was gay. He was in treatment for detoxing off of drugs on a regular basis (about three time per year). It's really hard on my husband and me because we really know the truth about the matter.
I don't know that this really had anything to do with the original post. I'm just really so sad about this. He was really a neat person and I miss him so much. Is greaving detox?

Honestly I don't take the hiv thing seriously. The field of hiv Science and medicine has a terrible track record when it comes to telling the truth, providing sound evidence and proper testing. As far as "conspiracies" go, well sometimes they exist and that doesn't really surprise people anymore. It's naive to think that people, groups, and organizations don't "conspire."
But more importantly in the case of hiv, people suffer a misunderstanding of health and disease and believe that a real live "super virus" exists and is devastating the body. This virus is supposed to be unlike anything that ever existed and the mere idea of it causes fear and dread. As a result, a lot of people with the desire to "save people and the world" are drawn to the hiv field believing they can help. These wonderful and caring people are no different than anyone else and can be led astray. I don't harbor any ill-feeling toward people who want to help others. But if you want to help, look at the whole story and not simply the "industry" side.
This is the ONE and ONLY condition that is said to be absolutely untreatable outside of allopathy. Yet to say this is to deny the many cases of people who have successfully continued to live healthily outside allopathic treatment. So it is disingenuous to claim that hiv is somehow different.
As for your story. It seems to me that the hiv label on him is completely frivolous to his condition. The use of prescription drugs for so many decades surely was enough to kill him off eventually. Add to that the powerful and toxic "hiv medications" and he was bound to die of toxicity no matter what viruses he had or did not have. This is a common story for those who are said to have died of hiv/aids.

This is a reply to # 866,538This is a post for people coming to the Master-Cleanse forum for information and advice. This in a wonderful place to get valuable information that can otherwise be near impossible to obtain. But come here and stay awhile. Take some things with a grain of salt and always follow up with your own research. After reading posts over a couple of days you will start to figure out who the educated are. One must have at least a basic understanding of opposing perspectives on any topic to have a valuable opinion. And this is a sounding board - people should feel free to say whatever thay are thinking, even if they are just beinginng to learn about something! But please just be weary of people who claim to know an entire group of practitioners wrong about EVERYTHING. It's frustating when you feel you have been short changed, it can really hurt a lot. But I've witnessed people jumping on this ALL MODERN MEDICINE IS WRONG AND EVIL SO I'M NOT EVEN GOING TO LISTEN TO WHAT THEY SAY wagon and it's just not smart. Getting more info is never going to hurt you, in fact to do otherwise is to become biased.
This should not about an emotional response, or feeling entitled or knowing something all these MDs are clueless about. It's about getting all the information together, taking a good look and figuring it all out. I believe modern medicine does not do enough to encourage people to listen to their bodies. Some of us listen well, the problem is, with cetain processes, listening is just not going to cut it.
I'm sorry J Trace, but I'm in basic level RN courses right now and have already had an entire lecture on missed antiretroviral medications leading to resistant strains. It's a HUGE hot topic in medicine. All you would have to do is occasionally read the health section of any newspaper and you would be aware of this and not have said "I don't see why HIV meds would be any different." We are talking about something specific here, that sweet guy asked a specific question about stopping meds. You never addressed any issues DIRECTLY related to stopping meds, because you didn't even know what the concerns are. And after you read my post, did you do a little research on your own? You don't have to agree with it but if someone comes to you asking for your advice, do your self a favor and take a hint from Pepe, aknowlege what do and do not know about. - Re: Master Cleanse and HIV mentalpete

Wonderful post, thank you. You mentioned a lot of the data I discovered since I tested positive. It's amazing how people keep repeating the "HIV=AIDS=DEATH" mantra over and over again, and refuse to look at the statistical data that clearly demonstrates that HIV simply cannot explain AIDS alone.
HIV drugs are so toxic that you can literally tell who is on them. They keep viral loads down, and yet no study has been done to prove how that translates into prolonged health. In fact, a study done by Rodriguez et al last year concluded that viral load could only correlate to better health in only 4% of the cases. So why lose a liver over that? If you don't beleive me, read the meds ads and you will see that no company is claiming that these drugs will make people healthier. They are approved to improve surrugate markes, but is that enough?
In my research I came to meet people with high VLs and non existant CD4 counts who are extremely healthy, some for over a decade. Others have perfect lab numbers and are full of opportunistic infections. So why gamble your life over these exams? It's more important to listen to your body, and monitor clinical health.
Don't buy the hiv hype folks. Look at what is real and things become much clearer.- Re: Master Cleanse and HIV J Trace

This is a reply to # 866,928I'm very happy to hear of your good health and positive outlook. Maybe you have seen Andreas Moritz's book: "Ending the AIDS Myth" which he published in 2003. About the hiv he says:
"....published research actually proves that HIV only extremely rarely spreads heterosexually and cannot be responsible for an epidemic that involves millions of AIDS victims around the world. Furthermore, it is an established fact that the retrovirus HIV, which is composed of human gene fragments, is incapable of destroying human cells. However, cell destruction is the main characteristic of every AIDS disease."
It sounds like you have done your research though. Anyone who has been labeled with hiv really needs to research on their own, just like anyone labeled with any disease. CureZone is a great place to help yourself. Curezone won't turn away hiv labeled people because of the silly misconception that hiv is exceptional.
We really can help people with advice on the MC and cleanses and, frankly, expect hiv labeled folks to benefit just like someone with diabetes or cancer or eczema!

I'm labeled HIV positive as well.
Whatever he does, he can't just go cold turkey on the meds as this can have repercusions on his immediate health (and possibly his tcell and VL surrugate markers).
A fast, if anything, will create lower CD4 counts as these helper cells will leave the blood stream (where it's measured) to go do their job on various tissues and this is a good thing. If you test yout CD4s after a big meal they will likely be higher than if you had your test done in the morning before breakfast, when your immune system is repairing the body. I wonder what a fast would do to a viral load though, since these tests pick up genetic fragments that is believed to be HIV, instead of counting the amount of virus in the blood stream, as most people believe it does (google yourself what Kary Mullis, the inventor of the PCR technique behind the viral load exam, has to say about its use in AIDS treatment. He won a Nobel Prize for it in 94, and says HIV=AIDS is a bogus claim). Many, like him, believes AIDS is a toxic and malnutrition syndrome.
Before I did my first fast I talked to someone who had done it. Even though he didn't stop taking his meds, he got rid of some health problems, such as a fungus infection. HIV meds are extremelly toxic, so I think fasting is a great idea for those choosing to take medication as a way to counter balance its side effects.
I personally don't take meds, don't monitor CD4s, and couldn't care less about my viral load. My health is great and that is what I chose to monitor. But this is a topic for another message board...
