actually, i believe just the opposite is true.
it appears that silver interferes with glutathione metabolism in the liver. this effect comes from a marked decrease in glutathione peroxidase, shown in animals given silver. in my experience, i was taking glutathione supplements when i began making and ingesting
Colloidal Silver . after a time, my liver started aching. i found out about this inhibitive effect and stopped supplementing glutathione. afterward, my liver would still ache after taking much silver. i then began to supplement selenium and vit E. the aching immediately stopped. as my intake of silver would vary, so would the need for the Se/E supplements. when i stopped taking silver on a regular basis, the aching went away without the supplements.
it is true that silver acts as a catalyst for oxygen in the body, which may well have something to do with its healing effects, but my studies do not show that this is the mechanism by which silver effects pathogens. the action is different, depending on the type, whether virus or bacteria or fungi, but the result is the same - they are inhibited and the body cleans up the rest. there are studies that show the different actions involved, but i dont have them available. if memory serves, the viruses are kept from replicating, the bacteria are prevented from carrying on their energy processes(they are starved), and i cant remember the fungi and molds.
except for the noted glutathione peroxidase production inhibition, silver does not seem to cause undue oxidative stress elsewhere by any of its actions. many of the studies are tainted, in my opinion, by the fact that pure silver colloid is not always used but instead, silver compounds and
Amalgams are studied. i also believe pure ionic
Colloidal Silver of the particle size made and used by myself and others is purposefully not studied as the benefits would be shown to far outweigh the risks and that is not the kind of findings that will excite those that generally fund these kind of studies these days. have you seen the price of a regimen of the newest and bluest
Antibiotic lately? or a high-powered prescription antifungal? outrageous!
