Now I ask you, do you really think men should be part of the discussion of abortion at all?
This is a serious question. Do men have the right to make any comments based on the actions of our reproductive system? Can they ever know what it is like to give birth? Or be a mother? Or be a lonely, banished, pregnant girl? Have the shame of being called a slut? A whore?
My answer is...not on your life.
I am not a man hater. I especially love men that know their place. And their place is firmly out of my womanhood.
I've known women that marched for our vote (my grandma). I've known women that were not allowed to be in management, or get credit by themselves (and that was in the 1970's!) I've watched women be discriminated against in wages, legal battles, equality issues, subjected to sexual harassment, and much more. I'm so sick of this domineering attitude, one in which I believe is being perpetrated against the American women in the name of the pro-life movement.
You don't have to go very far, all you need to do is open a newspaper to see how women are being treated around the world right now. It's really a sad sight to see women who must hide their face and hair for fear of physical harm, or women that are mutilated, because they are not allowed to feel pleasure, or even in the US, where women are passed around in a cult that believe they are chattel for polygamous faith. I could go on and on.
So, in the US, we are having yet another right stripped from us. The right to our reproductive choice. And, who is the overwhelming force behind this travesty? Religious fanatical MEN, and the women that follow them.
I don't care if you are pro-life or pro-choice, my plea is for woman to woman. If we can't stand together, then we doom ourselves now, and in the future.
