Thanks for both your thoughtful responses. This is a great place to explore ideas and deepen understanding.
As far as the idea that grains just don't have a place in one's diet, well I think that idea incomplete at best. Perhaps the solution is long soaking as put forth by NT and BED. I get a real sense of well-being when I eat cooked whole grains. While I'm open to considering all possibilities, I truly don't think this sense of well-being is simply imagined nourishment. Enjoying a cup of Starbucks House Blend with a piece of turtle cheesecake is a wonderful blissful experience, but I don't sense in any way it's deeply nourishing for me.
On the other hand I'm convinced the yeastie beasties wrecking our health also exert a greater influence on our thoughts and emotions than we might imagine, so it's possible they've slyly led me to believe eating grains nourishes me when in fact it nourishes them. Last night I took the candidiasis test in Gates' book and scored 359. I was reminded of when I first came across the testing in Crook's book about ten years ago when I was seeking answers to my health problems. I followed the anti-candida diet he prescribed for a short time and remember vividly one day fantasizing about eating some sweets and thinking to myself "I could eat some cookies" (that were in the kitchen--my husband's), and I heard in my mind a gleeful chorus of voices shouting "yea, yea, yea, yea, yea"!!!!! in response to my thought. Now this seemed to be coming from inside me but from a source other than me! The yeast were starving for sugar, which I'd never deprived them of before! I was horrified and felt these yeast entities within me to be evil, much like the "devils" (stagnant toxins) in the intestines per the Essence Gospel of Peace view. It sounds a little nuts, doesn't it? But we know this opportunistic pathogenic yeast body living within us can powerfully influence our thoughts, emotions, and actions.
I'm reading the BED book and plan to start gradually implementing the plan right away, beginning with a batch of cultured veggies. Still awaiting the arrival of the NT book I ordered. I will incorporate into the BED plan what feels right for me from the perspective of Mercola's diet, metabolic typing, ERFYT, raw foods and especially I will organize meals around The Five Phases of Food, by John Garvy to keep the
KI flowing dynamically through me.
May we each drive out the devils within and find the way of eating which serves our individual needs best, and not the agenda of an opportunistic pathogenic microorganism!
