This is a reply to # 56,538Nora I saw your website and the pictures of your family and I went to your moms website. I really feel sooo sad that that happened to you but I'd like to say that you are a strong girl and you were then. The reason I say that is because you protected your brothers and sisters for him. And you brothers and sisters would love you and support you just for that. Especially your sister which was just b4 you in age. It could have been her and you protected her. Don't feel bad there wasn't much you could've done. You didn't really understand what was happening. And he made you feel bad, dirty and ugly and all that is probaly why you didn't tell. I agree with JM about your family. From the pictures and your website, you seem to have a great family. If you feel talking to your family is best then do it but if you feel it isn't then don't.
As for that cousin of yours. If he still is evil and seems to not have repented then I say you definitely should tell on him. YOU HAVE TOO OR HE WILL DO THAT TO OTHER CHILDREN. BY YOU TELLING ON HIM YOU WILL TAKE IT A STEP FURTHER BY NOT ONLY PROTECTING YOUR SIBLINGS BUT YOU WILL BE PROTECTING OTHER CHILDREN. May God protect others from his evil and May God help you because only he knows how much you have suffered. You are a brave, strong beautiful girl. And I pray that you will heal completely from your past. And I hope that you will protect others from that man and his nasty, evil, filthy ways.
Do you believe in God? I know that when stuff like this happens some people disbelieve in God while others try to get closer to God. Please don't disbelieve that there is a God. Pray to Him and ask him for strentgh.

My name is Maria. I am 23 yrs old. I never got raped and I thank the lord that I wasn't although I almost got raped a few times by different men. But again thanks to God I didn't get raped. My sister said she was molested or raped. She is 18 like you. She just told us last yr but she doesn't give us details. I think after reading this I will try to be more concerned about what happened to her. (not that I am not but just that after so many years we don't know if she is telling the truth) Like I said I will talk to her about it. If you want my email address I don't mind giving it to you. PS Is the reason why your parents didn't notice was because they weren't around. I noticed that you mentioned that he pulled your hair out in chunks. I would think if your parents were around they would notice your hair pulled out. right? So, I am assuming they weren't around.... ?

Yes, I am a survivor. I was rape for 8 years of my life by my brother. And I know how you feel when you say you feel evil and dirty. I have felt that way for a very long time, chipping away at it for years. I used to feel (and still do sometimes) that inside I am filled with a black tar like gunk and puss and bloody scars. I thought I was a monster, but I had to hide that from the world. Cause if they knew, if they could see what I was like inside, they would run away and I'd be alone. I felt unwanted and unworthy of love. I didn't deserve it because I was not good enough. Not good enough for someone to save me from him. It is excrutiating pain. A fight just to function as a quasi normal human being.
I didn't tell my parents what happened to me right away. I didn't even know what it wasn myself. I just thought that's how all brothers acted and when my other brother didn't I thought something was wrong with him. That is how twisted my mindset was then. My parents found out when I wrote a note to my best friend in high school and told her about it. Somehow, without my knowledge, I dropped the note. My Mom found it and read it.
Before that moment I couldn't tell them. I thought it would destroy my family and my parents and the fabric of the universe for that matter (it sounds dramatic, but the fear is there). But they found out, and as my therapist says little birdies didn't die and children didn't starve and my family did not fall apart. Instead they've held me and comforted me and stood behind me every step of the way.
I in the past few years healed tremendously. I no longer want to walk in front of a car 10 times a day or at all for that matter. It's amazing how far you can come when you use the inner strength that helped you survive the abuse then to get you through the healing. Remember you as a survivor have an amazing strength that others could only dream about. You have survived what many in this world could not. That strength is your ally.
You are a beautiful young women who deserves to be happy and is loved. Someday you will achieve that what is now a mythic dream of health.
Good luck on your journey and know that there are many of us who are walking the path with you right now.

I just want to tell you how sorry I am to hear what you went through. You are such a beautiful, glowing person and obviously very strong and loving. I sincerely hope that someday you will be able to see that yourself. I really mean that. I don't know what would make someone hurt a person the way your cousin did. I would imagine that he was abused himself at some point. That is often how it works. It sounds like rather than continuing the process and abusing someone else, you are turning that rage inward and inflicting pain on yourself. I hope that you can see that there is another option. You can end the cycle. Make it stop with you. Make it your life's mission to heal this pain and live a happy life. Commit yourself to healing so that you can help other young women who have gone through this.
Nora, the first step is forgiving yourself! You have to forgive yourself. You deserve peace, love, and forgiveness. Turn that little voice off in your head that tells you otherwise. It is not telling you the truth. The truth is that you are a beautiful, intelligent, compassionate survivor. I believe that before we are even born, we choose our mission. My guess would be that you chose to go through this in order to help others. Take your power back. It is time now to heal. You are on your way.

This is a reply to # 56,514Your story is very courageous. Keep strong. I think the will to fight and scream at the top of our lungs in our best help. Let me introduce myself. My name is Jess, I am a 24 year old man who was abused by my mother until I was sixteen. I don't know when it started it was always a part of my life. (Not now and never again though it is still a memory I keep). I was burned with cigarettes and lighters, beaten on more than one occation. Sexual abuse was also there, but I'll spare you detail. I don't know what makes these sick people do what they do or why. Your only hope to forgive yourself is to forgive him. I hated my mother for a long, long time. I wished her nothing but ill will, but that eat me up into a shell of hatred which in turn turned to a long period of self abuse. Having come out the other end (alive and well!) it has helped me greatly to begin to heal my wounds. I doubt they will ever go away (my relationships have all ended badly because I have an almost uncanny ability to distrust and emotionaly shut off exept the one I keep dearst to me wich is my best friend. Keep good people around you, remember that there is goodness is all life around you. Take comfort in the fact that nothing is permanate and everything is always changing. His Holiness the Dali Lama wrote that when wounded the best help is to scream and let everything out. I believe this whole heartedly. If you have lost your fatih or your way, I recomend anything written by his Holiness. Thank you for "listening". Jess
