I am shocked to discover from the results of Parascope lab tests (UK co.) that I have dientamoeba fragilis and entamoeba coli. (I might add, I haven’t travelled for years except to the States. I live a clean life but I have a dog!!)
Six months ago, I tested positive to entamoeba coli (not to be confused with e.coli). The two doctors I consulted dismissed this as insignificant. I wasn’t too worried.
I had done a
parasite cleanse (Clear by the Awareness Corp) two years ago and this seemed to effectively treat diarrhoea. If anything, I now have constipation. I ate large quantities of pumpkin seeds (which made me feel good) drank loads of AVC and Virgin olive oil (also good effect). Did
colonic hydrotherapy with success ( even had a
parasite enema). I had just started to take L. Glutamine for leaky gut. BMs were getting more regular. I thought I had the
parasite situation under control.
I read from the fact sheet from the clinic that dientamoeba fragilis causes mucous diarrhea and abdominal pain. It also causes anal pruritus, nausea, vomiting, anorexia and constipation. Constitutional symptoms include low-grade fever, weight loss, fatigue, restlessness and irritability. The scarey thing is that this beastie feeds on starch http://www.badbugs.org/parasite/diet.htm#carbs and my main problem is that I am food sensitive ( even after many years of food exclusions). All my symptoms worsen with grains, dairy,
Sugar etc. I am underweight, restless and certainly irritable!
The other thing that is scarey is that this parasite only has a trophozoite form which cannot survive in digestive juice. “ Therefore its transmission by the oral route seems unlikely.....some authors have considered that D.fragilis might be carried by the eggs of the Enterobius species, protecting the protozoon from digestion”.
Reading the badbugs website makes depressing reading – so many people taking huge quantities of drugs that do not rid them of this amoeba (or flagellate as it is now called). There do not seem to be herbal remedies that work either?
Anyone who has experience of treating this parasite – please post ! Especially 35662 (cf archive) – Please say how you get on with Dr Tom Borody next week.
(By the way, I did this recent sample at the time of the full moon (26th Jan). Am now wondering if this is a significant factor (
parasites being notoriously difficult to detect but more active at the full moon))
