Greetings,
I agree witht the basics of what bobbyrubio is saying...especially the part that when we're looking at two options and disregard one as false, we have a VERY bad habit of accepting the second option as true (whether it's true or not)...and that's something that happens with natural health & healers FAR TOO FREQUENTLY! So when one is considering "side one" and "side two", it's always good to consider some of the 'logical basics'and personal experiences...and not just what one see in print or published...from EITHER side of the debate.
And here's some of the 'logical' highlights of posts I've made in the past for your consideration:
---Yes, many times the mucoid plaque DOES contain psyllium/bentonite clay...BUT the mucoid plaque itself is decidedly different in texture, color (and odor) from the psyllim/bentonite clay mixture.
--We take psyllium mixed with
Bentonite clay (and maybe charcoal). The psyllium expands, pushing the detoxifying clay/charcoal into the sides of the colon (and mucoid plaque). Then the psyllium "burps and shrinks" (or something like that, lol), which causes the psyllium/clay mixture to pull away from the sides of the colon...pulling away mucoid plaque/sludge/mucous from the lining of the colon and the diverticulum (the little pockets in the colon). So, OF COURSE when long ropes of mucoid plaque are analyzed, they contain traces of psyllium and clay/charcoal!! That's exactly what is SUPPOSED to happen!
!--Check out all the images of mucoid plaque 'ropes'...many of these pictures have been taken after the 'ropes' were rinsed clean of other debris. Pardon my bluntness, but when in the world did a two foot turd ever stay together long enough to be rinsed & photographed?!? Jeez Loueez!
!--And another: read what morticians, forensic doctors, surgeons, AND natural healers say: the bowel/large intestine should be about 2" in diameter...but they've seen them stretched as wide as 10-12"
inches across (with only an
inch or two of 'channel' for feces to travel through). So if a colon is stretched to 10-12 in diameter, what the heck is doing the stretching? Rose Petals??!!

Here's what I honestly know as true from my own personal experience.
--Bentonite clay mixed with charcoal is a light gray/green in color when taken AND when expelled. It does NOT look like mucoid plaque, which is dark brown or black.
--When expelled,
Bentonite clay/fiber mixtures will 'crumble' in water (even though it sometimes comes out the shape of the intestines)...heck, it's basically mud, so if you mix it in water, it dissolves! Mucoid plaque ropes (or small pieces/chunks) do not dissolve or crumble when poked, prodded, or rinsed of debris for picture taking.
--The last two times I did a
Bowel Cleanse (the first in two decades, shame on me!) I lost 8
pounds with the first one, and 3
pounds with the second one. I was NOT dieting or adjusting my food regime in any way. I weighed "x" on day one...took 7 days worth of clay & psyllium, didn't gain an ounce, pooped out all the clay & psyllium AND incredible amounts of pieces & chunks of mucoid plaque...and ended up 8
pounds lighter on day eight. Yep, SOMETHING that weighed 8 pounds left my body...and it sure as heck looked like mucoid plaque to me! (and of course, it couldn't have been the clay, because eating 8 pounds of clay and pooping out 8 pounds of clay wouldn't have caused a weight loss!)
One can read THOUSANDS of opinions & testimonies (which one will either accept or reject, based on their knowledge base and understanding at the time of reading them)...but there's really no substitute for first hand knowledge & experience.
BUT, if you have no experience with bowel cleansing at all, and still wish to enter into 'debate and discussion'...here are two articles that cover most everything there is to consider about bowel health, cleansing and mucoid plaque. No matter who you are or what you've decided you think, if you haven't read these two articles in their entirety (or their equivalent, which I've never found), then you don't have enough information about the "natural side" of the "bowel cleansing/mucoid plaque" issue to be able to debate/discuss it with the level of knowledge you'll need.
Read one here (the chapter called "Journey to the Center of your Colon":

...and that's FAR more than my .02 cents worth about that! :o)
