Hi all,
Reading your postings have been very helpful. I really appreciate everyone's willingness to share their experiences. I can attest to the failure of root canals. My mother had all four of her root canaled teeth removed due to infection. She could not afford to get implants and now her teeth are shifting. Another friend of mine also had 2 of her root canaled teeth removed due to infection and is getting implants this week.
Much to my dismay, I was informed by my dentist yesterday that I need to have a
root canal done on one of my upper right molars.
My dentist suspects that my prior dentist (Huggins Trained) who removed all of my
Amalgam fillings 3 years ago may have traumatized the molar thus causing the tooth to die. I don't believe that to be true. I suspect that the serious car accident I was involved in during my pregnancy is what traumatized an already fragile tooth. The dentist prior to the Huggins trained dentist I saw said I needed a crown since my tooth was cracked.
I have come to the conclusion that I have 4 options:
1) Try to clear up the infection and forego the
root canal procedure.
2) Have the
root canal done by a good biological dentist that has experience with infrared laser treatment and uses biocalex instead of guttapurcha filling (my current dentist will be receiving training in the use of infrared lasers in Nov. and currently uses guttapurcha for filling root canals).
3) Have the tooth completely extracted by a periodontist and replaced by an implant.
4) Have the tooth extracted and not replaced by an implant.
I am having a "vitality test" performed to determine if the nerve endings are dying before I proceed with anything else. In the mean time I am going to see my Naturopathic Doctor for additional remedies to help boost my immune system.
All comments and suggestions are welcomed as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Sydney
p.s. My gums have been bleeding a lot over the past year every time I get my teeth cleaned by the hygenist (not when I brush or floss a home). I have very little tarter build up so she thinks it's because I am still breastfeeding. Has anyone ever heard of this?
