Well that's a manipulative question if I've ever seen one. Why would you ask about the merits of adoption but exclude any opinions about gay adoption, in a forum strictly about gay issues, pro or con?
I would think that unless you have a dubious agenda, if sincere you would ask this question in a different forum.....Relationship perhaps?.....hmmmm- Manipulative Question? gypsy13princess

I'm not sure, and maybe you can tell me, if you are trying to second guess someone- yes or
no?
but if you are not second guessing someone then you are either aware or not aware of this
behavior .
Atalanta states: "I don't want to know why it's bad... and then proceeds to ask a valid
question and then you throw words like manipulative and dubious agenda sounds ...
I think at this point one should recognize that words have meaning and before we go around
tossing them left/right we should be aware of how and why we are using them.
Now, being in my shoes, I have to ask you this question whether or not you respond or care
to respond to the previous things I have said:
Why does Atalanta question cause you to use words like manipulative, dubious agenda.
as if he's doing these things and then why aren't you accepting his perfectly valid question in
an open debate forum? Ask yourself these questions.

Atalanta does, in fact have a dubious agenda, which is why she's trying to set an intellectual trap.
I would say that all single people should be last in line after married couples. Every child DESERVES a mom and a dad. If single people really wanted children that bad, they should have probably thought of that before they decided to become/remain single.
There are probably worse things in the world than being the child of a single parent, but it's certainly not the ideal situation.- Intellectual Trap

Reason in Action just means that I caught you in a moment where Atalanta was asking
a legitimate question and the answers that were given were not sufficient (and the
question remains- why do we use negative language as a premise to any argument?
I read plenty of posts whereby, I say - they are using reason in this particular
instance.
A person has to delve into any aspect- whether it be internal or external.
(delve: to dig or labor with / to make a careful or detailed search for information).
Let's just say that I'm good at catching reason in action" or lack thereof.

This is a reply to # 343,909that statement was actually a bit tongue-in-cheek on my part. just a little weird humor thrown in for my own entertainment.
Oh, and I remember now why I initially thought that Atalanta was setting an intellectual trap. I thought maybe she was asking this to get me (or other pro-lifers) to admit that a single parent would be ok to adopt a child -- which would effectively dismantle my position that a mom and a dad would be best. Maybe I'm reading to much into this question by Atalanta...but I know by now how her devious mind works.
Am I right Atalanta?

What I like is that you said I have a devious mind when before at all other times you thought I was braindead.
I donno why you're stuck in the Abortion Debate forum when this is obviously not it. The post had nothing to do with the traditional family unit.
It was more of an excercise to answer questions within, such as like the ones with were posted in the abortion forum (guns, death penalty, war).
Plus I really wanted to know, but jeez you anti-gay people get so offensive. I wanted to know becasue I posed this question a while back in the forum and it didn't get an responses so I tried again. And now everyone is turning it into such an issue.
I wanted to know becasue our minds work so differently so I wanted to know what your mind thinks. I wasen't even going to debate it.
I just think it's interesting becasue you don't want a gay couple adopting. So I wnated to know what about a single person.
If you said that was ok I would probably want to know what if the single person is gay (becasue I don't think they have to say when they adopt, or they could lie).
But I take this whole situation as a compliment. You guys obviously think I'm some sort of mind numbing genious and don't want to fall into a trap. Muhaha.- Re: As If. MichelleT

Well lets just think of the pawn err,,, child for just a second. Who would you want your classmates to meet. Your single foster Dad? Your single foster mother? Your Dad and his life partner? Your Mother and her life partner. Or would they both both be your Dads or Mothers???

Just for the record, gender does not determine love.By denying a child a chance at a good life because of your own archeic,ignorant and selfish beliefs is wrong.You should just be thankful that people open their hearts and homes to these children.And if you are standing in the way of a same gender couple from adopting a child, then you are the one comiting a crime against the child.

This is a reply to # 343,913I would want my classmates to meet my "parents" whether they be gay, or straight, or one or three or black or white or deformed or whatever. If they loved me and taught me tolerance, love, and not to judge other and treat them as I wanted to be treated, I would not care if they were a man and a woman or like everyone or anyone elses "parents". I would be glad they had not taught me to hate someone because they thought differently than I did. I would be proud that my parents loved me.
Why does it matter? It all boils down to what one believes and when one thinks that their beliefs are superior to others beliefs. When one believes they are superior they sometimes think that they have to control what others do. The truth is "there is no such thing as superiority" except in our minds. I think Jesus used to teach love, didn't he?
I may be wrong as it's been a long time since I read the bible as I gave up Christianity for Buddhism many years ago. Now, I don't follow any one religion, but follow what's in my heart because that is where and what GOD is..........
LOVE!
And guess what! He/She doesn't hate you because you are gay!

This is a reply to # 343,901I think it's okay. I figure under the circumstances it's better that a boy/girl have one loving parent than none at all. Foster homes and orphanages are the worst of two evils, IMHO. Also, what if a rich single adult, one who is worth 10 million dollars, wanted to adopt. Money makes things a bit better. I'm sure no one on either side of the issue would dispute that. If Oprah or B.Gates, or Uma Thurman or Pat Sajak were singe and wanted to adopt a child they would have not problem with people being okay with it.

This is a reply to # 343,951I'm new to this forum and a member of a gay foster/adopt family.
Contrary to common belief that gays foster to convert youngsters into a gays, I (and one of my other sisters) am a well-adjusted female marrying a male. My three other gay sisters chose my foster parents as their parents and came gay. The youngest, who are two and twins, will make their decisions later in life, but are healthy, happy, and not confused that they have a mommy and mama.
Also, my family is a myrid of colors- from black to white, mexican to puerto rican. We teach tolerance for a lot of things, not just fear of other ethnicities or homophobia. In my house, 95% of the girls, including me, have been raped or sexually molested. We are taught to understand that not all men are bad and not to be gay to be with women because they are "safe", and that society isn't just a terrible place.
I don't know how this affects the conversation, but I wanted, I guess, to point out a few pros of gay parenting.
