I need to lose about 100 lbs. Other than nuts, seeds, oils, and dehydrated food in general, can you tell me which raw foods to eat only in moderation? I don't want to make it too complicated, but I also don't want to endulge in fruits and veggies that will hender my weight loss. Until I get within my ideal weight range, I want to focus on foods that will help my body to heal and drop the weight.
Some people will gain weight eating very high glycemic and/or concentrated raw foods. This includes bananas, melons, avocadoes, and figs. Depending on your body type high glycemic foods may hinder your weight loss.
I'm not sure what your referring to. You can find lists of high glycemic foods online. Avocados are notorious for causing weight gain and figs are high calorie. If you want to find out if you have the body type that will gain weight on high glycemic foods you can read Gabriel Cousens book, Conscious Eating, where he has lots of information on how to personalize a raw food diet according to your body type.
thanx for the book reference. I gained an extra five pounds after switching to raw vegan and I think it was due to my glycemic type. I think figs were the culprit. They're so yummy.
Under "GI Database" you can enter a food name and then you get a list of the glycemic indexes of the different forms of that food (for example an overripe banana has a higher glycemic index than an underripe one, baked potatoes have a higher one than cooked ones, juices fruits a higher one than the whole fruit, etc.).
