Hey all,
Sigh, I can't handle it and feel I'm running out of time. I don't even know what I am doing now and struggling to get over so many issues.
Sorry for the long post or rant. I have a lot of questions in regards to overall health; gut health and cleanses, detoxing in particular. Exercise, diet, enemas, healthy habits, finding a good Dr., relaxation techniques and much more. Other than the what is found on this site, what are other resources to curing psoriasis, LG, SIBO and Candida. How to test for dysbiosis and treat it. How to correctly do a
Liver Flush and what to do for a kidney cleanse. I'm new at alternative medicine but I've read a couple posts here and there, read CZ's front page for each topic. It is a bit much to take in.
Anyways, I am a 28 years old (I feel old) male living in San Jose , cali with pretty severe
Psoriasis (20 years), arthritis, muscle soreness, swollen areas on body, leaky gut, sibo, candida, hormonal imbalance, insomnia, always hungry, have anxiety, depression, jaded and all that fantastic stuff. My mind feels like it's on overdrive. I'm so overtaxed that I spend most of my time resting and don't have much motivation in life. Just tired physically and mentally burnt out.
Doctors, even naturopathic Drs I've seen are not helpful. The naturopath I currently saw early this year was not even trying to help me get rid of leaky gut, sibo, candida,
parasites or whatever I had but instead told me go to back to my dermatologist and rheumatologist even though we spoke beforehand about how I was against doing that now and tired of it. But she suggested i go back prescription or biologics, pushed her clinic's treatment like IVs. Hardly talking about SIBO, candida, Leaky gut, parasites. Just fluff. It's a business and I'm been ready to move on to the next Dr. Every waking second I feel the pain mentally and physically but some people aren't even dedicated to their craft. Frustrating. I don't think I can figure this one out, not smart enough, little experience in holistic healing and overall health.
For Bay Area people or those who know a skilled practitioner whose expertise in treating my condition(s): Can you recommend any? What resources were used to search one out?
Is it necessary to see someone for their regimen or do you go merely for the tests and/or prescriptions?
I would like to cut out the guessing part. I test positive for the "spit" test. Dont know how accurate that is.
Antibiotics help alleviate my symptoms of joint,
Psoriasis flaring. I want to learn more about using enemas or using it orally. As well as prescriptions for candida. I probably have other underlying issues like parasites, hormonal imbalance or some deep, deep
Depression and stress going on that's making it difficult to heal.
This is what is currently going on:
Severe
Psoriasis covering 70% of skin, leaky gut(sensitivities/intolerance, especially gluten/grains, shellfish), I assume I have candida, sibo, hormonal imbalance. I get 'die off' symptoms or psoriasis flare ups when I eat/drink something or take an enzyme, potent probiotic or antifungal.
Arthritis is severe; joints are deformed, feet and knees are swollen, neck is very stiff, muscle pain and soreness in, upper arms, shoulders and lower back, I walk hunched over. I'm fairly skinny, 105-110 lbs and I have a weak, small frame, weak bone structure and I am sensitive to a lot of things. Don't exercise much and often feel cold.
With all these issues, I still don't want to overthink it.
Questions about SIBO, candidasis, LG, etc:
What phases and what order did you take to achieve good health? for example:
1) get tested to know what parasites, bacteria and yeast are present or overgrowing
2) diet/add antifungals, prescriptions, enzymes, supplements, do things to reduce inflammation, boost immune system, exercise, sleep more etc
2.b) Detox (enemas/colonics/liver flushes, kidney cleanse)
3) retest
4) heal the gut with supplements/food. Raise stomach acid and bile.
Why do people suggest Mg and psyllium supplements for detoxing or constipation? any alternatives?
Diets: What worked/did not work and why?
Fasting of any kind, SCD, GAPS, AIP, FODMAPs, ketogenic or mixture of the above? How much carbs an fruits per day?
I tried SCD/GAPs intro but never got past the early phases and fermented foods were pretty bad.
Fermented foods, probiotics, prebiotics:
Fermented foods and probiotics are what confuses me because I've read not to use it until sibo, yeast overgrowth and
parasites are mostly gone. Then some suggest they be used early with resistant starch/prebiotics. I use S. boulardii and do notice a negative reaction. When I made homemade yogurt, add high CFUs probiotics(VSL) I get intense negative reactions like brain fog, muscle soreness, psoriasis flare ups/reddening and arthritic pain.
What are the best ways to increase bile flow and stomach acid? How to alleviate constipation especially on a low carb diet?
Some more quick background about me which may be of use to help figuring this out:
Was always sick from a young age. Sister and I were not breast fed due to complications but unlike her, I'm really skinny and have a small frame, weak bone structure. Around the age of 7, I had asthma and was hospitalized for it, chicken pox, vaccines, fevers/chills, had an infection on my finger but don't remember what it was but was given medication for which I did not react to very well. Accidentally knocked over a glass cup and cut my knee which had to stitched up, remaining in a noticeable scar after the big gash.
Don't know when psoriasis began to appear specifically but it was around this time. Appeared behind my ear and side of my face. Place I lived at was not really clean either. had little sunlight coming through because lack of windows. Was around dogs a lot.
In middle school I broke my tibia bone by merely planting my left foot on the field playing flag football of all sports. I had multiple, long pins inserted into my left shin for a few months and was give my first round of
Antibiotics after the procedure.
My psoriasis flared up HORRIBLY afterwards and changed my life for the worse. My face, neck, ears. Psoriasis began to appear on my arms, legs, torso, back, etc. My hands and feet were the only safe area till now. It only got even worse when I began to get depressed, gained a lot of weight by eating comfort food which was mainly junk food, italian food and soft drinks. Went overseas for vacation in a less developed country with my family during my break in HS. When I was there, I had one BM in 2 and a half weeks. I ate fast food and whatever was given over there too.
Is it possible I got
parasites overseas?
Psoriasis flared even more on my neck and face when I returned home. I ended up dropping out of HS and leaving social/school life behind to total seclusion for years. Didn't have any influence in life and was depressed, out of control. Dermatologist at the psoriasis/eczema clinic in UCSF said my psoriasis was the worse he's ever seen.
Fast forward past the trips to local derms, UCSF psoriasis clinic, Stanford, and a few naturopaths, nothing obviously worked. Tried biologics (enbrel, stelara. humira), synthetic vit. d steroid creams, tar wraps from in UCSF (which they still do..sad) and some naturopaths who don't seem to have experience with anything related to the gut. A holistic dentist I saw was very helpful and knowledgeable though. My face and neck are covered in psoriasis and I blame it partly on the constant use of steroids. Don't know what to put on my skin, it is sensitive and very thinned out.
I so self conscious and rarely want to be outside unless it is a long car ride to the beach or something.
Antibiotics :
Another conflicting belief I've read is the use of antibiotics or prescriptions for SIBO/candida respectively. I thought prolonged use of antibiotics would further worsen my issues.
Should I consider taking antibiotics or prescriptions for yeast? Possibly in enemas?
A round of antibiotics reduced my symptoms quickly then flared up back to normal shortly after. I'm optimistic and interested about learning more about using prescription in enemas, orally if it's safe.
Tests:
Are these tests fine? has anyone used them and are they fairly accurate? any others?
A) GI effects 2200 from genova diagnostics
B) Biohealth #401h
C) Organics acids test
D) SIBO breath test
food IgG test??
With LG, i would think this is a waste. I had one earlier in the year and wanted to compare the results.
food intolerance and real allergies are tricky to figure out. Foods like shrimp, crab, shellfish, oats, rice which I was permitted to eat caused a negative response. And some leafy greens, fish were not.
Other than being slightly anemic, my blood work shows I'm fine, metals test level within range and ok, low in copper, iron, low in urea and other protein breakdown byproducts. Low in glutathione and NAC
Elevated inflammation markers, elevated WBCs,
liver and kidney are fine according to the tests and I do not have celiac.
Blood type A +
Had a ALCAT food panel testing 200 foods. I was "allergic" or intolerant to 170 out of 200 foods which seems normal to me considering how long I had these health issues untreated. some of the permitted foods were shellfish, pork and caffeine, coffee, chocolate, MSG, maple syrup and more. Foods that I would never eat and don't.
Is doing a AIP diet,
Elimination Diet for months a good idea until I get everything under control?
Antifungals/antibacterial supplements I've used in rotation for about 7 weeks: Oregano, Undecenoic acid, olive leaf extract caps and complex, tsps. coconut oil, iodoral, pau d arco tea, caprylic/monolaurin/lauricidin, cinnamon, cloves, goldenseal, neem, iodine, MSM. Way too many supplements, some have multipurpose i.e. cooking with coconut oil.
Iodine for thyroid, cinnamon lowering blood sugar, MSM for arthritis.
Other than probiotics, I've found oregano, Undecenoic S. Boulardii and biocidin to give me the worse reactions. biocidin too.
Kala's MSM flakes, molybdenum has helped a lot with my joints. I was also cutting out grains, potatoes and eating less carbs.
What dosage and concentration of iodine,
Colloidal Silver respectively is recommended and how long do you use it for?
Biofilm: broad spectrum enzymes (enzymedica) before meals, candex at night, NAC. tried fibrolytic enzymes from silkworms interfase and they made me feel worse, I was stiff and could hardly move.
For help with detoxing: i'm using curcumin, milk thistle/liver complex from healthforce, ALA, diatomaceous earth mixed with activated charcoal or betonite clay.
I should be adding vitamin C. But I'm looking for a good supplement or better start
juicing again.
Other supplements: HCL, Omega 3s in the form of CLO, fermented CLO( although kresser mentions green pasture brand i'm taking isn't as potent as advertised), zinc, L-glutamine Jarrows (15gs daily), E, k2, D3, iodine, selenium, Mg spray, chlorophyll, b complex
Tried protein powders, multivitamins, ox bile acids and artichoke for bile flow. not sure why I stopped ox bile and artichoke. Honestly don't like taking too many vitamins, minerals like multivitamins because I feel like they're a waste of money if I have gut issues and I question whether I'm absorbing more than half the stuff I'm taking. prefer to get it from food or freshly made juices.
All in all, the fibrolytic enzymes, s boulardii, probiotics, oregano oil and caps made me feel extra horrible.
Has anyone tried liposomal vitamin C or liposomal glutathione in very high dosages and think it would help?
And what to do for leaky gut?
So far, I've used beef marrow bone broths, l- glutamine, curcumin and fish oil for LG. Think colostrum is good if I have sensitives to milk? Slippery elm, aloe vera, DGL?
Daily routine:
Morning:
D. earth/clay in water
oil pulling for 20 mins with refined sesame oil or coconut oil
Glasses of warm water.
fresh lemon water
L-glutamine
a cup of beef bone broth
before first meal i take HCL, MSM, molydenum milk thistle, iodoral, fish oil, a antifungal, and some of the vitamins and minerals i mentioned. sometimes i drink peppermint tea.
Then I eat chicken/turkey breast/ground, a medley of steamed and few raw vegetables (zucchini, broccoli, a little carrots or squash, olives, radishes, daikon). I eat with spices and herbs like cinnamon, thyme, cloves, turmeric, allspice and a generous amount of
Sea Salt both in my water and food.
wait a few hours, drink water w/
Sea Salt
Drink peppermint tea.
Take enzymes, MSM, zinc, molydenum, 1 anti fungal
Second meal, I eat the same as the first meal or eat oysters, grass fed beef or lamb, or poultry again. same vegetable medley with
Sea Salt
Enzymes before meal
Dinner: Eat the same as before meals. I take milk thistle, ALA
Candex, s. boulardii hour or 2 before bed
a tea called smooth tea from traditional medicinals used for constipation
D. earth/ liquid betonite clay
olive oil, then Sleep
If I'm hungry, I drink more water, a serving of fruit like half a banana, berries, canteloupe or anything in season, a half a tspn of olive oil, nori with olive oil and salt. I gravitate towards warm, nourishing, salty, fatty foods even in warmer climates. It's hard to put on weight without overeating. I may be eating too much fatty foods from animal protein. Deep down I know I should take a break or reduce the animal consumption to help my liver and body handle everything. I stay away from cold, raw foods like greens. Leaning towards warm, salty, fatty and nourishing foods or drinks.
I drink a lot of water, teas and used to juice greens but that is on hold atm. I think
juicing with a better juicer will help a lot.
I've limited carbs to half a cup of carrots or few pieces of squash a day. I try to eat a serving of fruit or none.
Liver flush:
I finished a
parasite cleanse and will try my second
Liver Flush within a week and hope to see a difference. I'm using natural DL-malic acid this time instead of apple juice. Dumb move to use apple juice...it hurt. I did Moritz
Liver Flush with 2
colonics before and after. Didn't notice much. Even if the stones are coagulated oil, I think it'll help me because I'll refrain from eating too much fatty foods for a while and learn about health, detoxing,
coffee enemas and gut healing from the hydrotherapist.
2 type of liver flushes:
I don't see people doing Moritz' 6 day cleanse with 2
colonics on the
Liver Flush Forum s. opting for doing Hulda's and doing their own enemas. Any reasons for this, such as convenience and effectiveness?
Any alternatives to malic acid?
Kidneys:
What works best for a kidney cleanse?
Topicals:
I really have no clue here.
I spend a hour sunbathing a few days every week.
What "worked" for me is oddly enough olive oil and fresh avocado. Neem reddens and dries my skin up, coconut oil is ok. I have tea tree oil and
Lugol iodine. I really want to buy a higher quality showerhead that filters chloride. Or use saunas or make a salt bath because I rarely sweat. Could probably try salt baths or saunas at the gym.
Oral health:
Highly overlooked on my part.
I've been doing 20 min oil pulling for the past 5 week with refined sesame oil or coconut oil. Fl free toothpaste. I had a root canal, cavities and my
Arthritis developed after the root canal. My tooth with a
root canal was removed by a holistic dentist who by the way was very helpful. I have holes in my top left and right molars which I could feel with my tongue.
After writing this post and going through all this for nearly my entire life, I don't know whether to be more sad or upset. I wish I can stop looking back at past mistakes or feel resentment towards others. I was actually given Hulda's book and health books years ago by an intuitive and long time family friend who passed away recently. I never bothered reading them cover to cover because most of what I read was foreign and sounded strange. Now it sounds less strange. I didn't take responsibility for my own health and relied on Drs. parents, etc to hold my hand.
Nutrition, disease prevention, education, nurtuing was not part of my life growing up. Thankful for my life sort of but it is frustrating because suffering is unnecessary if things were done differently. I was/am pretty much an a**hole and seemed moody and unapproachable. I don't believe in much.
Stress and resentment kills me. Over the weekend, my mom and I parked in a handicap parking spot when we went into a grocery store after going to the beach. I forgot to put my placard because I was upset at the time. Well, our car got towed and we had to pay 390 to retrieve it at 11 pm. We were upset. Then the next day, my mom wins an raffle for a flat screen tv at a party.
Sometimes I feel my bad emotions, negative thoughts manifests into sickness. And vice versa, people who always happy, positive and believe get rewarded. My sister tells me it's all in your head but I can't take that seriously. There is a mental side of healing that I have yet to touch.
I'm tired of it all. I've gone to school, grocery stores, beaches,on airplanes, other countries looking like a freak wearing hoodies, or long sleeves, pants in hot weather. Noticeably limping and always moisturizing with stupid sprays. I rather stay home and that is where I'm mostly at. The constant staring and embarrassment wears on me, my self confidence and I feel little. I've only met one person with severe psoriasis on their face. At a psoriasis meet up and I could not stop staring at her. just shocked. I can't even concentrate either. It is the same everywhere. The preparation of going out is not as easy.
I don't know anything and rambling because I'm tired of it all.
Anyways, it could be worse. I'm tired, it's 3 AM and it is time to sleep. Sorry for the rant and errors.
