I've been going to doctors for over a decade for jock itch, each time I get a different diagnosis, either eczema or fungus. The cream they give me usually clears it up, except this last time I have been suffering with this for almost 3 months. It's a circular spot that's about 2 inches. It's pink and itchy. It was treated for fungus, then I went to another doctor who said it was eczema but gave me a cream which I am very hesitant to try because of the side effects I've been reading about. I've tried every home remedy for a fungal infection, and then eczema and none have helped. Is there any way to definitively figure out which one it is? I don't really want to go back to the doctor considering I didn't use the cream they gave me. Can I figure out which one it is and treat this on my own or do I need to go back? And if I go back, what do I ask for? And what do I do if I'm not willing to use the medication they give me?

This is a reply to # 2,144,210For a cheap useful alternative I suggest warm water with everyday salt mixed in. You can also try this: Blend coconut oil, grape seed oil, vegetable glycerin and aloe Vera gel. Apply atleast twice in a day.
Start JUICING! Especially cucumber, parsley, spinach, & watercress (Those 4 veggies were recommended for eczema).
Get a humidifier, moisten the air. I have heard 35 to 60% for dry skin... Something to look into.

This is a reply to # 2,144,308But how do I know which one it is? It seems like they are treated almost in an opposite way, the skin needs to be kept dry for fungus, while eczema needs to be moisturized.- Re: Eczema or fungus koco

This is a reply to # 2,144,608I dont really know, i had the same problem. However it is an internal problem whichever it is and you need to build up the good bacteria in your gut. For a quick method to get rid of it try raw apple cider vinegar. Stings but worked for me , i also kept getting told different things ! - Re: Eczema or fungus P4P

This is a reply to # 2,144,608just don't overdo it.. avoid moist and too dry area, it should always be moderated enough level of humidity, best to have a hygrometer to check level of humidity then have a dehumidifier or humidifier which ever is appropriate in your place.

Fungus is a dermatophyte and can be 'bred' on a dextrose plate or similar by any microbiologist at any uni or find one in the yellow pages...they test for food bacteria and what type of foot fungus someone has.
Eczema is sterile. Breeds nothing. It is simply the histamine reaction to an internal allergy. Like Candida in the intestines or yeast in the nose or vagina....
If you watch CSI, you will see them do this...
You don't need a doctor, you need a CSI! or just a microbiologist.
Itchy? you say...more likely to be a dermatophyte.

Try using the baking powder to keep the area dry before the cream is home, needs time to deliver. I found it on amazon. I think it is still there. It,s English cream.
Believe me, either ezcema, or fungus, you need to keep dry to cure. You drystone ezcema. The one who cured me said, under ezcema is bubbles! Cream is best to keep it dry, for cream is artificial oil, that blocks moist from outside. I can not say I will definitely help you, but we share! I hade this very often before, but none now. Oh, I just recall, use venigar to wash your body, keep it on body for 5minutes, and wash it off! Whole body please.please share if it help you, so we can all go up a konowledge level, and live better!

This is a reply to # 2,148,634Keep your skin dry but not too dry, as humidity is very important to eczema sufferer. some even use a humidifier if its too dry and hot. Put oil before you take a bath then after moisturize immediately by putting creams and lotions(aveeno is ok) About the vinegar you were saying? does it have to be pure vinegar or diluted in water?

Eczema can be caused by mineral imbalance with Low magnesium levels which can lead to Anxiety, muscle spasms, insomnia, depression, muscle aches, muscle twitch, restless legs, panic attacks, weak bladder control, extreme weakness or tiredness, irregular heart rhythm, diabetes , hypothyroidism etc. If you have any of these added symptom Magnesium Supplements or regular Epsom Salt bath may make an improvement for you .
