Hello all,
I hope somebody might be able to help me with my problems...
I have a mitochondriopathia and couldn´t eat properly because of that for around 1 1/2 years. Until I found my doctor in June I had many mineral and vitamin deficiencies.
The mitochondriopathia is almost gone now but I still got many intolerances and have to keep a strict diet until everything will hopefully turn to normal in a year or so.
My current problem is:
In the beginning of December my muscels felt very weak and I had severe muscle pain, so that I hardly couldn´t go for a walk or so. In addition to that my thyroid was slightly painful and everything for me tasted salty.
Then my doctor told me I had a selenium deficiency and 3 weeks ago I startet taking 400mcg of selenium daily. My problems got much better in like 5-6 days. In these days I also hardly could sleep because I had so much energy (very different from before). But then everything got worse again and I had the same problems as before.
I then read about
Iodine and noticed that currently I am eating almost no Iodine. I then reduced my daily selenium intake to 100 mcg and I started a week ago eating iodized salt and seafish. I am now on 1 mg
Iodine daily.
Now my problem is that I got a strong headache all the time since I´m supplementing selenium, my thyroid is still a bit painful (especially after eating much iodine...but before the selenium supplementation I never felt any pain after eating something with lots of Iodine...:( )and my muscels partly feel very weak again...
I got the next appointment at my doctors in the middle of January...does maybe somebody of you guys have a clue whats happening now with me? Should I stop the selenium? Or sschould I supplement something in addition?
Yours
Nana
