Genesis Today Superfruit Juices:
Goji, Acai, Noni and Mangosteen
(NaturalNews) Over the last 18 months, Genesis Today has emerged as the market leader for superfruit juices like Goji berri, Acai, Noni and Mangosteen. The company, led by Linsday Duncan, got its start in the nutritional detox and digestive cleanse category, then expanded into superfruit juices and has become my top-recommended product provider in that category.
Here's what makes Genesis Today superfruit juice products better than the rest: Many of them are wildcrafted (better than organic), they contain no filler juices, and they're packaged in glass bottles, eliminating any concern about bisphenol-A contamination from the plastic.
The prices are also quite good, especially considering how much people are paying for some of these same superfruit juices through various network marketing companies like Monavie or Xango. Genesis Today products are a far better value, in my view. For example, their Mangosteen 100 product is 100% pure mangosteen juice, with absolutely nothing added.
You can get a 32 oz. bottle of it on Vitacost for $32.49 (http://www.vitacost.com/Genesis-Tod...), which comes out to a buck per ounce of pure mangosteen juice. That's about one-tenth the price you'd pay for the same amount of actual mangosteen juice from some better-known network marketing companies, whose products consist mostly of cheap filler juices.
My favorite product from Genesis Today is their Power4 blend which combines Goji, Acai, Noni and Mangosteen juice. A 32 oz. bottle is currently $41.49 at Vitacost.com (http://www.vitacost.com/Genesis-Tod...). Drink an ounce a day and you'll receive an abundance of anti-cancer, health-enhancing phytonutrients that you simply can't get anywhere else.
Drinking a daily dose of superfruit juice is a great investment in your health. These juices contain phytochemicals that help prevent ever major disease you can think of (cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer's, kidney stones, depression, etc.), and they improve your skin quality, hair quality, vision, mood and much more. I drink superfruit juices every day and enjoy blending them into superfood smoothies.
For the record, I have no financial ties to either the Genesis Today company, nor to Vitacost. Both receive my independent recommendation for providing outstanding quality products at very likable prices!
You can also find Genesis Today juices at Whole Foods and other health food stores. Pick up a bottle when you see one! This is some of the best superfruit juice you'll ever find. The only downside is that they're obviously pasteurized (since they're in liquid form). If you want raw superfruits, you'll need to go with dried fruit powders or fresh fruit. Liquids are almost never sold raw due to shelf life concerns.
So it's not as good as living in Brazil and growing all these superfruits in your own back yard, but it's as close as you can get in a convenient, shelf-stable and nutrient-rich superfruit product that you can keep in your refrigerator. (And growing a noni tree isn't all it's cracked up to be anyway, believe me...)
Check out the entire Genesis Today product line at Vitacost.com: http://www.vitacost.com/productResu...
They've got a great lineup of products there.

Taking high doses of vitamin E supplements can actually increase the risk of lung cancer.
A study of 77,000 people found consuming 400 milligrams of vitamin E per day increased cancer risk by 28 percent. Smokers were at particular risk.
An expert writing in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine said that people should get their vitamins from fruit and vegetables rather than supplements.
Vitamin E is known to be an antioxidant that protects cells from molecules called free radicals. But in high doses, it may also act as a pro-oxidant, causing oxidation and damage to cells.

Dr. Mercola's Comments:
At first glance this article may appear to be nothing but another attempt to assassinate a natural health-promoting agent. However, there is some truth to these findings, which is why it’s important to weed through it to discern what’s what.
Vitamin E: Healer or Killer? Two Sides of the Same Coin
There have been numerous studies pointing out the two sides of vitamin E.
On the one hand vitamin E has been found to have strong health promoting influences by protecting against damaging free radicals – because it is a very effective antioxidant for many fats.
On the other, it has been found that it can also increase, rather than reduce, oxidation and speed up the onset of both heart disease and cancer if you smoke and eat a diet high in polyunsaturated fat.
According to one such study, vitamin E can induce heart disease through “reductive stress.” Reductive stress is a condition caused by excessive levels of reduced glutathione, which is one of your body’s most powerful antioxidants. When your cells work properly, they produce just the right amount of reduced glutathione, which is healthy for your body. However, in some people, a mutated gene can disrupt the fine balance, causing the cells to produce too much.
Additionally, vitamin E should not be given to certain brain injured children, such as those with some types of autism. In these cases, accumulations of long chain fats require oxidation to remove them, which is impaired by vitamin E, actually making the disease worse.
On the other hand, one classic NEJM study found that vitamin E can reduce your risk for heart disease by up to 80 percent.
Another study published in Life Extension Magazine came to the same conclusion, stating that vitamin E reduces high levels of the inflammation-causing proteins C-reactive protein (CRP) and IL-6, which are likely contributors to heart disease. (Blood levels of both CRP and IL-6 are often elevated in patients with heart disease, indicating an increased risk for heart attack.)
And other studies have shown that vitamin E:
May lower risk of asthma and allergies
May help treat menstrual pain
Improves circulation in diabetics
Helps prevent prostate and breast cancers
Slows down cognitive decline
May help hot flashes
So as you can see, there’s plenty of evidence for both sides of the argument. Vitamin E may lower the risk of disease in some people, and raise the risk in others.
But what’s most likely at the heart of this discrepancy?
All Vitamin E are Not Created Equal
Ever since its discovery in 1922 there has been much discussion over what type of vitamin E is best. Many do not know that the term “vitamin E” actually refers to a family of at least eight fat-soluble antioxidant compounds, divided into two groups of molecules: tocopherols (which are considered the “true” vitamin E) and tocotrienols.
Each of the tocopherol and tocotrienol subfamilies contains four different forms:
Alpha-
Beta-
Gamma-
Delta-
Each one of these subgroups has its own unique biological effects.
Ideally, vitamin E should be consumed in the broader family of mixed natural tocopherols and tocotrienols, (also referred to as full-spectrum vitamin E) to get the maximum benefits.
And there’s the main problem: the vitamin E most often referred to and sold in most stores is a synthetic form of the vitamin, which really should NOT be used if you want to reap any of its health benefits.
You can tell what you’re buying by carefully reading the label.
Natural vitamin E is always listed as the “d-“ form (d-alpha-tocopherol, d-beta-tocopherol, etc.)
Synthetic vitamin E is listed as “dl-“ forms
When vitamin E is stabilized by adding either succinic acid or acetic acid, the chemical name changes from tocopherol to tocopheryl (as in d-alpha-tocopheryl succinate, for example).
Your body can easily distinguish between natural and synthetic vitamins, and several studies have shown that natural vitamin E is between two and three times as bioactive as the same amount of synthetic vitamin E.
And that brings us to the best source of natural vitamins…
Food, Not a Supplement, is Your Best Source of Vitamin E
Free radicals are a natural byproduct of breathing; antioxidants such as vitamin E mop up the excess, and leave the rest of the free radicals to fulfill their other functions, which include things like turning air and food into chemical energy, and aiding your immune response by attacking foreign invaders and bacteria.
This fine balancing act can be easily tipped to the point of either too much or too little. Eliminating or dramatically reducing free radicals could actually lead to more problems than are solved.
The Goldilock's equation, meaning you need just the right amount to achieve optimal health -- not too much and not too little, is the answer here.
And your body can do a phenomenal job of self-regulating many of these levels if you supply it with wholesome, healthy foods and dramatically limit your intake of processed foods, which are loaded with artificial chemicals.
Tocopherol and its subgroups are found in certain nuts and green leafy vegetables. Sources of tocotrienols include palm oil, rice bran and barley oils. However, many Americans do not get nearly enough of dietary vitamin E due to their poor dietary choices.
So yes, vitamin E is a wonderful antioxidant with powerful health benefits, but you need to make sure you’re getting them from the right sources -- from the food you eat. A diet rich in fresh vegetables and nuts will usually supply you with the whole nutrients needed to walk this fine line.
Always remember that not only are nuts and leafy greens rich in vitamin E, they also contain hundreds of other natural chemicals that create a synergistic effect where the total benefit is far greater than the sum of its parts.
When buying vegetables, I strongly recommend you try to find locally grown, organic produce, as they often contain greater concentrations of vital nutrients.
Remember also that the Take Control of Your Health program, which includes the entire program of eating the healthiest foods in all the right proportions for your nutritional type, can help you solve most of the problems with “too much” versus “too little” when it comes to essential nutrients.
If you are not eating properly according to your nutritional type -- by far the most important step you can take to improve your health -- no supplement will "save" you.

(NaturalNews) For the first time, scientists have discovered a genetic pathway suggesting that antioxidants may help in the treatment of cancer, according
to a study conducted by researchers from Thomas Jefferson University and published in the journal Cancer Biology & Therapy.
Scientists have known for a long time that diets high in antioxidant-containing foods are associated with a lower risk of cancer. This effect is widely
attributed to the fact that antioxidants remove DNA-damaging free radicals from the body.
"Reactive oxygen species [free radicals] are formed in vivo during normal aerobic metabolism and can cause damage to DNA, proteins, and lipids, despite the
natural antioxidant defense system of all organisms," writes Erich Grotewold in the book The Science of Flavonoids.
"Diets high in flavonoids, fruits, and vegetables are protective against a variety of diseases, particularly cardiovascular disease and some types of
cancer," he writes.
Yet now researchers have shown that antioxidants may not just prevent, but also treat cancer. The Thomas Jefferson University researchers had previously
discovered a protein called Caveolin-1 (Cav-1) that, when present in the human genome, suppresses tumor growth. Indeed, the presence or absence of the
Cav-1 protein is the single best predictor of Breast Cancer outcome. Women with triple-negative Breast Cancer - the most deadly kind - are more than 75
percent likely to be alive 12 years after diagnosis if they have the protein, and less than 10 percent likely to be alive five years after diagnosis if
they lack it.
The researchers further verified that Cav-1 plays an antioxidant role in the body. In the current study, the researchers confirmed that when Cav-1 is
removed, oxidative stress in breast cancer tumors increases, leading to a 300 percent increase in
tumor mass and volume.
"Antioxidants have been associated with cancer reducing effects - beta carotene, for example - but the mechanisms, the genetic evidence, has been lacking," lead researcher Michael P. Lisanti said. "This study provides the
necessary genetic evidence that reducing oxidative stress in the body will decrease tumor growth."
The findings may actually cast doubt on the effectiveness of many chemotherapy drugs, which are actually known to increase oxidative stress. They also
suggest that many antioxidant drugs used to treat other conditions, such as diabetes and malaria, may be effective in treating cancer.

(NaturalNews) Deep in the Patagonia region of southern Chile grows a wild berry known as maqui that natives have been eating for ages. This powerful
superfruit, which is now beginning to make its way into the U.S., is considered to be the most antioxidant-rich superfruit in the world. Its nutrient
profile offers amazing protection against cholesterol buildup and disease-causing inflammation in a way unmatched by most other fruits.
A recent Fox News report highlights the fact that maqui grows so abundantly in the wilds of Chile that it does not even have to be formally
cultivated. As the popularity of the fruit continues to grow, natives simply harvest increasing amounts of it from the many maqui bushes that dot the
hillsides and surround Chile's many vast forests.
According to Dr. Juan Hancke, a medical doctor who has devoted numerous years of research into learning about maqui, the fruit is extremely rich in a
variety of powerful antioxidants. These include anthocyanins, delphinidin, malvidin, petunidin, cumarins, triterpenes, flavanoids, and cyanidin. The
delphinidins in particular, he says, significantly reduce inflammation, which thus prevents the diseases brought about by inflammation -- except without
causing the harmful side effects of pharmaceutical drugs.
Everything from cancer, to arthritis, to cardiovascular disease is spurred on by inflammation, so consuming mega-doses of antioxidants from sources like
maqui is a great way to help prevent these and other diseases. The Fox report explains that any disease ending in "itis" is an inflammatory disease, which represents many of the chronic conditions
that people face today.
Consuming maqui has also been shown to greatly increase insulin production levels in the body. Individuals with diabetes or pre-diabetes can eat maqui to
increase insulin and suppress blood glucose levels, as well as prevent the development of new fat cells. And the berry also helps regulate cholesterol and
triglyceride levels by encouraging healthy blood flow, preventing cholesterol oxidation, and discouraging plaque buildup in the arteries.
Maqui berries contain powerful antibacterial compounds as well, which make them an effective food-based medicine for deterring and treating infections.
They also boost overall immunity and support healthy bones and joints.

(NaturalNews) Vitamin E has many therapeutic properties. It can be used topically and ingested. It is available in a capsule for easier ingestion or in an
oil. Vitamin E oil can be swallowed or applied to the skin. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that is essential for several basic bodily functions.
It can be found in many foods such as cooking oils, like safflower, sunflower, and wheat germ oils. It can also be found in almonds, hazelnuts, and certain
leafy green vegetables. Vitamin E is believed to help delay or prevent heart disease and some types of cancer.
Vitamin E as an antioxidant helps protect the body against stroke, cataracts, cancer, heart disease, and even the signs of aging. Vitamin E actually
protects the walls of the arteries. It prevents bad cholesterol (LDL) from being oxidized, preventing clogged arteries. Vitamin E can also prevent
platelets from clumping together and forming blood clots. This can help prevent a stroke or heart attack.
Vitamin E can also help prevent or fight cancer. It protects the cell's DNA from damage that can cause the cells to turn cancerous. It can actually reduce
the rate of growth for tumors, at the same time enhancing the immune system to fight cancer. Vitamin E capsules can even help enhance the action of
insulin. This improves blood glucose function in diabetes.
It is also pivotal in the proper function of the brain. It protects the myelin sheaths that surround neurons in the brain. This can help prevent
degeneration during the normal aging process. It may also help prevent Alzheimer's disease.
Used topically,
is used to heal and protect the skin. It protects the skin cells from damage including sun damage. It also boosts collagen in the skin. Collagen is what
gives the skin its elasticity. Boosting collagen helps reduce wrinkles and gives the
a more youthful appearance.
Vitamin E can also be used to reduce or clear scars on the skin, including Acne scars. It is more effective when used soon after the scar is formed, but it
can be used on older scars as well. Older scars may not see as much improvement, but it can provide some relief.
Vitamin E for scars can be found in special scar fading creams and gels or just vitamin E oil. It should be applied to clean skin at night, so it has time
to soak into the skin to work.
Vitamin E can also help make the hair healthier and increase growth. It can be taken orally in a capsule to help hair health from the inside out. It can
also be used in conditioners to improve the look of damaged hair.
Vitamin E has numerous health benefits. Getting enough vitamin E can help reduce diseases, reduce the signs of aging, and improve the hair and skin.

(NaturalNews) The cleansing properties of apple cider vinegar have been utilized for centuries. Eastern medicine teaches us that apple cider vinegar can help stimulate circulation and aid detoxification in the liver. Ancient cultures often used apple cider vinegar to purify the blood. Today we are exposed to more toxins than ever before, so it's become even more important that we take care of our bodies by detoxing with natural medicinal foods like apple cider vinegar.
Apple cider vinegar is rich in natural minerals, vitamins and enzymes. Supplying these nutrients to the body is crucial during a time of detoxification, when all the systems in the body go into overdrive to purge out toxic material. The unique acids in apple cider vinegar can bind to toxins and help the body eliminate them more effectively. They are also equip to fight bacteria, fungus and Candida.
Another way apple cider vinegar aids detoxification is by breaking up mucus throughout the body and cleansing the lymph nodes to allow for better lymph circulation. A healthy lymphatic system can remove toxins from the cells in the body while improving immune system response.
Taking apple cider vinegar before meals aids digestion and improves gastric health, helping the body remove toxic waste more efficiently. When foods are digested thoroughly and waste eliminated quickly, the body is nourished and toxins are removed before they have time to do damage.
Remember, to get real results you must choose a real product. The ideal apple cider vinegar is in raw liquid form. It should be unprocessed and unfiltered, with plenty of "mother" in it. Any other kind of apple cider vinegar will be far less effective and may provide no benefits at all. In fact, some cheap imitations are simply white distilled vinegar with caramel coloring added!
Take apple cider vinegar in small doses throughout the day. Many people like to take 1-3 teaspoons in a glass of water before meals to aid digestion. Others enjoy adding it to hot water with honey to drink as a tea. You can also use apple cider vinegar to make tasty and nutritious sauces and salad dressings.
A hot bath prepared with a cup of apple cider vinegar and a cup of Epsom Salts will draw toxins out through the skin and help jumpstart the cleansing process. This can also help relieve joint pain as well as skin conditions like eczema and acne.
While apple cider vinegar can play an important role in detoxification, it will be far more effective when combined with a naturally healthy lifestyle that includes these habits:
- Eat a balanced diet that consists of unprocessed, natural foods that will provide the body with the nutrition it needs to purify itself.
- Include some raw, uncooked foods in your diet since these supply important enzymes that will help you detox.
- Choose organic foods to help reduce your exposure to toxins. Keep in mind processed foods of all kinds should be avoided, even if they are labeled organic.
- Exercise regularly to improve the health of the circulatory and lymphatic systems, both of which work to cleanse and purify the body.
- Reduce toxin exposure by using natural household cleaners and beauty products.
- Drink only filtered water to avoid potential toxin exposure. Getting plenty of pure water will also aid natural detoxification processes.

12-18-08 - Paul Bragg "invented" the healthfood store!! He formulated Bragg's ACV.
There's so much HOOPLA on acv, so I decided to go to the source and bought Paul Bragg's acv little book, it was inexpensive. The best thing I can say about the book: it's a masterful book of advertising for his product.
If acv was touted by those of us here that applied the things he says and it works like he says it does, there would be NO need for another single product on the holistic market ... his book reads like THE end-all of about every dis-ease ever mentioned.
I DO have a bottle of Bragg's acv in my cupboard and I will continue to have it. My salad dressing preference was always of the Italian and Greek variety. I intend on continuing that habit and Bragg's is probably the best vinegar on the market.
When my liver hurt me BAD and lemon wasn't cutting the pain, sometimes a warm cup of acv sweetened with stevia was just what un-doctor plzchuckle (myself) ordered! Yes, acv does cut liver pain. Did I ever feel that taking it for my liver problem was helping me? Only when I hurt. I saw NO change in my distress and/or dis-ease other than easing the pain.
5-4-09 - Many have read my blog about my candida battle. I did some work on my endocrine system and was asked by the herbalist to go back on a SAD diet because he couldn't tell what was going on with my body because of my diet. For about 8 months I was at least 50% SAD daily.
Y'all just that and my candida went WILD. Tired, insomnia, poorer digestion, yeast infections - one after another ....
I went back to my supplements and am now transitioning back into my raw world.
I posted an article around here about acv being GOOD for candida. I started adding "vinegar tea" to my culinary repritoire. Twice a day, I'm drinking a hot cup of water with 1T of Bragg's acv, sweetened with stevia. This brings a raging yeast infection to a NO PROBLEM in just a coouple days.
First of all, please recognize that this document is NOT intended to be a comprehensive or exhaustive analysis of apple cider vinegar. However you can help add to the current understanding of this topic by adding your own comments at the bottom of this page.

There have been many lofty claims about the miraculous healing powers of apple cider vinegar, and many people do seem to be experiencing some health benefits. However, much of what you read about this product on the Internet is overstated, or simply unfounded.
Some proponents of apple cider vinegar claim it can cure everything from diabetes to acid reflux, to warts, cancer, arthritis, athlete’s foot, halitosis, high cholesterol, gout, poison oak, urinary tract infections, and even head lice!
Oh -- and yes, it can help you with your Easter egg dying as well.
With the surging interest in alternative medicine, you can now even get apple cider vinegar in pill form.
Dramatic claims aside, let’s examine what is really known about vinegar, based on the scientific studies to date.
Latest Research Findings on Vinegar and Diabetes
There has been surprisingly little research about using vinegar for therapeutic health purposes, given the large number of dramatic claims about it. However, lack of scientific studies is a common problem for many natural and alternative therapies.
Perhaps the most researched and the most promising of apple cider vinegar’s benefits are in the area of type 2 diabetes. Several studies have found that vinegar may help lower blood glucose
In 2004, a study cited in the American Diabetes Foundation’s publication Diabetes Care[i] found that taking vinegar before meals significantly increased insulin sensitivity and dramatically reduced the insulin and glucose spikes that occur after meals. The study involved 29 people, divided into three groups:
1. One third had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
2. One third had prediabetic signs.
3. One third were healthy.
The results were quite significant:
~All three groups had better blood glucose readings with the vinegar than with the placebo.
~People with prediabetic symptoms benefitted the most from the vinegar, cutting their blood glucose
concentrations by nearly half.
~People with diabetes improved their blood glucose levels by 25 percent with vinegar.
~People with prediabetic symptoms had lower blood glucose than the healthy participants after both drank vinegar.
A follow-up study geared at testing vinegar’s long-term effects yielded an unexpected but pleasant side effect: moderate weight loss. In this study, participants taking two tablespoons of vinegar prior to two meals per day lost an average of two pounds over the four-week period, and some lost up to four pounds.
In 2007, another study cited by WebMD involving 11 people with type 2 diabetes found taking two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before bed lowered glucose levels in the morning by 4 to 6 percent.
Although the research to date looks favorable, more studies are needed to confirm the extent of vinegar’s insulin stabilization benefits.
Vinegar and Blood Pressure
There is far less research exploring vinegar and heart health.
In 2006, one study showed that vinegar could lower cholesterol in laboratory rats[ii]. Another study on rats[iii] found their blood pressure could be lowered by the acetic acid in vinegar.
However, these results do not necessarily apply to people; therefore, we really need some research on humans before conclusions can be drawn.
Possible Cancer Combatant
There is some positive preliminary research suggesting apple cider vinegar can help prevent cancer. A few laboratory studies have found that vinegar may be able to kill cancer cells or slow their growth. However, epidemiological studies of people have yielded confusing results.
One study found that taking vinegar was associated with a decreased risk of esophageal cancer. Another associated it with an increased risk for bladder cancer. Clearly, the jury is still out on cancer prevention.
An Apple a Day
remain, even after the apples are fermented. They contend that vinegar is rich in minerals, vitamins (including potassium, calcium, and beta-carotene), complex carbohydrates and fiber, pectin, amino acids, and beneficial enzymes.
The problem is, when standard nutritional analyses of apple cider vinegar are done, it is found to be a poor source of most of these nutrients. For example, the one milligram of calcium found in a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar does not come close to the 1,000 milligrams a typical adult needs each day.
It has been claimed that soluble fiber in the vinegar, in the form of pectin, binds to cholesterol and helps carry it out of your body, thereby improving your lipid profile. However, apple cider vinegar contains no measurable pectin or any other fiber, for that matter.
Perhaps apple cider’s magic may come from the vitamins it contains?
Wrong again.
According to the USDA, apple cider vinegar has no measurable vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin E, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, beta-carotene, or folate -- and it’s equally lacking in amino acids, lycopene, or any other nutritional elements.
Then, is this stuff just good for cleaning windows and dying eggs?
Hardly.
Even though it is devoid of many of the traditionally valued nutrients, evidence of apple cider vinegar’s health benefits has been witnessed for hundreds -- maybe thousands -- of years[iv].
So, what can explain this mysteriously beneficial elixir?
It could be partially related to the fact that vinegar is a diluted acid, specifically acetic acid, which is responsible for its sour taste and pungent smell. The pH changes it induces may contribute to some of its actions.
Some of the dramatic benefits may also be derived from yet-to-be-identified phytochemicals (beneficial compounds in plants) that scientists are now discovering in a number of different foods. In fact, many of your strongest weapons against cancer are the phytochemicals found in fruits and vegetables
The more we know, the more we realize we don’t know.
One thing that apple cider vinegar is high in is acetic acid. Like other acids, acetic acid can increase your body’s absorption of important minerals from the foods you eat. Therefore, it is possible that drinking a mild tonic of vinegar and water just before meals might improve your body’s ability to absorb the essential minerals locked in foods. Apple cider vinegar might help you get more out of your leafy greens!
How can apple cider vinegar help regulate your insulin?
One theory is that it might activate some of the digestive enzymes that break down carbohydrates into sugar, thus slowing absorption of Sugar from a meal into your bloodstream. This gives your body more time to pull Sugar out of your blood, preventing your Sugar levels from spiking.
The Gnarlier, the Better
When purchasing an apple cider vinegar, you’ll want to avoid the perfectly clear, “sparkling clean” varieties you commonly see on grocery store shelves. Instead, you want organic, unfiltered, unprocessed apple cider vinegar, which is murky and brown.
When you try to look through it, you will notice a cobweb-like substance floating in it. This is known as “mother,” and it indicates your vinegar is of good quality.
The reason manufacturers distil vinegar is to remove this rather schmurky looking stuff that most folks won’t buy. But in this case, it’s the murky looking stuff you want. As with everything else, the more processed a food is, the less nutritious, and this holds true for apple cider vinegar.
The first vinegar was the result of an ancient accident.
Long ago, someone stored a keg of wine too long (presumeably a poorly sealed one that allowed oxygen in). When the eager drinkers opened it, they found a sour liquid instead of wine. The name “vinegar” comes from the French words for “sour wine.”
How Should Apple Cider Vinegar be Used?
There are no official guidelines about taking vinegar internally. Some people take one to two teaspoons a day, mixed in a glass of water or juice, before meals or in the morning, and report benefits from doing so. The risk of taking small amounts of apple cider vinegar seems low.
Apple cider vinegar makes a delightful salad dressing. You can even make a vinegar-based coleslaw, rather than the usual creamy mayonnaise-based one. It is good on fish as well and serves as a great tenderizing marinade for meat, giving it a bit of zing. And it’s tasty drizzled over cooked greens.
If you are considering taking it medicinally, there are some things to keep in mind[v]:
~Apple cider vinegar is highly acidic. The main ingredient is acetic acid, which is quite harsh. You should always
dilute it with water or juice before swallowing. Pure, straight apple cider vinegar could damage your tooth
enamel or the tissues of your mouth and throat. (There is, in fact, one reported incident of long-term
esophageal damage to a woman who got an apple cider vinegar supplement capsule stuck in her throat.)
~Long-term excessive use could conceivably cause low potassium levels and lower bone density.
~Apple cider vinegar could theoretically interact with diuretics, laxatives, and medicines for diabetes and heart
disease.,br>
If you are under the care of a physician and you want to try a course of apple cider vinegar, talk to your doctor first to make sure it won’t interfere with any of the medications you are presently on.

Vinegar is one of the best natural agents for removing certain pesticides and bacteria from your fresh produce. Of course, you don’t need apple cider vinegar for this -- any basic white vinegar will do, and for a fraction of the price.
Gayle Povis Alleman, MS, RD recommends a solution of 10 percent vinegar to 90 percent water as a bath to briefly soak produce. Just place your veggeis or fruit in the solution, swish it around, and rinse thoroughly.
Don’t use this process on fragile fruits (like berries), since they could be damaged in the process or soak up too much vinegar through their porous skins.
~Apple cider vinegar has long been used as a natural hair care product. Its acidity is close to that of human hair;
it’s a good conditioner and cleaning agent, as well as an effective germ killer. You can visit
http://www.apple-cider-vinegar-benefits.com for information on how to make a vinegar hair rinse.
~Vinegar also has some applications for pets, including cleaning ears, relief of certain skin problems, and
combating fleas and ticks[vi].
~Some horse owners claim apple cider vinegar is an excellent natural horse fly spray and horse hoof care
product.
~Vinegar is a great, all around cleaning agent for everything from countertops to windows.
Obviously, we need a great deal more research to investigate vinegar’s full healing potential. While it is not likely an all-encompassing miracle cure, it can certainly be useful in a variety of ways, for a variety of conditions. It’s one more multi-purpose tool to have in your natural pantry.
And if you are really ambitious and adventuresome, you might want to try your hand at making apple cider vinegar from scratch. Detailed instructions can be found at http://www.apple-cider-vinegar-benefits.com.
Again let me remind you that this document is NOT intended to be a comprehensive or exhaustive analysis of apple cider vinegar. However you can help create to the current understanding of this topic by adding your comments to the page.

(NaturalNews) Is skin brushing all it`s cracked out to be? What is it anyway? Well, basically, the idea is that you use a bristly brush, made of natural fibers, to brush dry skin in order to boost circulation, rid the body of toxins, and remove dead skin from the surface. The result is healthier skin with more vitality and less toxins in the body.
One of the main benefits of skin brushing is that it stimulates the lymphatic system (source: http://www.therawfoodworld.com/prod...), which is a network of lymph fluid within the body. The lymph system has a few functions, and its correct working is very important to the health of the body. One of its functions is the protection against invading disease and micro-organisms. Another important function is absorbing fat and fat soluble vitamins from the digestive system and the transport of those nutrients to where they need to go in the body. It`s a great system, with one slight draw back; it doesn`t have its own pump, and so, the movement of the lymph through the lymph system is dependent on good breathing and circulation. This is where skin brushing comes in. Brushing the body with a brush of natural fibers, from the extremities (the legs and arms) towards the heart, boosts what may be an otherwise sluggish flow of lymph. This makes the entire system function so much better.
Having a lymph system which functions well will increase the quality of not only your health, but also your appearance. Cellulite is, in part, caused by a build up of toxins in the blood, which a good lymph system will help to eliminate. Also, skin brushing gets rid of dead cells off the surface of the skin, without removing too much of the natural oils which your skin has. So, it`s a natural way to get healthier skin.
Skin brushing is a cheap and easy technique which won`t take much time out of your day. Make sure you buy a brush with natural fibers, so as not to irritate the skin. Start a ritual of skin brushing before your shower each day. The idea is to brush hard enough to create slightly flushed skin, but not so hard as to cause pain or irritation. Start with your feet, brushing up towards your knees, and traveling on upwards until you`ve done both legs. Then work from the hands, up the arms, towards the heart. Finally, brush the torso, using strokes in the direction of the heart. Within just a week or two you`ll start to notice a difference in the quality of your skin.

Whole Body Detoxification (Part 3): Far-Infrared Sauna Use
(NaturalNews) The skin is the largest organ in the body, and the most powerful route for eliminating toxins. That is why it is essential that people with Chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and other diseases associated with toxic overload regularly skin brush. More than 2lbs of waste are eliminated each day. Sunshine and air are also taken in through the skin. In fact, it can be said that our skin actually breathes. Skin Brushing has been shown to help the skin detoxify and renew itself.
Unfortunately, the skin of most people is unable to efficiently detoxify because it is clogged with dead skin cells and waste excreted through sweating that has not been removed. Dry skin brushing is a simple, inexpensive way of removing the waste from the skin and breaking down old toxic deposits. Skin brushing eliminates dead skin cells so that the new layer, which is regenerated daily, can come to the surface, making the skin soft and smooth. Skin brushing also gets the lymphatic system flowing so that it can perform its tasks effectively.
The lymph is the fluid that brings nutrients to our cells while removing waste. In fact, it is the primary vehicle for elimination. Unlike the blood, which has the heart to pump it, the lymphatic system is dependent upon outside forces such as exercise and massage for its circulation around the body. Most people are not able to get a massage every day, and far too few people in modern society get regular exercise. Dry skin brushing prompts the body to release its toxic deposits into the lymph, whilst simultaneously cleansing the lymph itself.
Because of its powerful ability to release the skin's detoxification potential and to cleanse mucoid deposits from the cells directly into the colon, dry skin brushing is considered to be an essential part of any intestinal cleansing program.
The best time to skin brush is before a bath or shower. For optimal results, skin brush every day. Your skin may feel tender at first, but if you continue to brush your skin on a regular basis, you will soon feel the benefits, and your skin will come to crave the daily brush!
The entire surface of the skin should be brushed, with the exception of any broken or cracked skin and the face, which is generally too sensitive to be brushed. It is imperative that the brushing be carried out when your body is dry. The brush should also be kept dry so that the bristles don't become soft and lose their effect.
In order to maximize the lymphatic benefits of dry skin brushing, the skin should be brushed according to the locations of the two lymph plexuses. The majority of the lymph in the body drains into the thoracic duct, located near the heart. However the lymph from the upper-right quadrant of the body (the right side of the face, neck and chest, including the right arm, and following the line of the ribs down) drains into the right lymphatic ducts, located above the liver, under the right breast.
The skin should therefore be brushed in long, firm strokes up the legs and in towards the heart, except for the upper-right quadrant, which should be brushed downwards towards the liver (under the right ribcage) and the right breast.
