Background: why alkaline minerals and your pH matters
Just as your temperature absolutely has to stay at 38.5 C or 98.6 F degrees (and your body will do whatever it takes to keep it at that level) your body has to maintain a pH of 7.365.
If you eat, drink and live an lifestyle that is over-acid, the stress it puts on your body to maintain this pH of 7.365 directly leads to sickness and disease. Your body is naturally acid forming – your natural bodily processes, metabolism and the body’s removal of wastes and toxins lead to small amounts of acid by-products. To neutralize this we have a small alkaline buffering system that keeps this 7.365 pH level in our blood and other cells.
And this buffer used to be 100% adequate…until our modern lifestyle kicked in.
Now a diet of pizza, coffee, chips, chocolate, soda, alcohol, white bread, cheese, microwave meals, trans-fats and take always plus a lifestyle of stress, pollution, chemicals and toxins means that we are constantly pushing our body to the max to try and deal with this constant, overwhelming attack of acids.
To put this in context, the pH scale (that runs from 1-14) is logarithmic. This means that pH 6 is 10x more acidic than pH 7, meaning pH 5 is 100x times more acidic than pH 7 and pH 4 is 1000x more acidic.
Coke has a pH of between 2 and 3 – pH 2.5 is almost 500,000 times more acidic than neutral water, and you need 32 glasses of neutral (pH 7) water to counteract the consumption of one glass of Cola.
So you can see how a diet filled with meats, dairy, fizzy drinks, alcohol etc would quickly deplete these buffers.
The Scientific Proof That Alkaline Minerals Are Critical To Your Health
Recent scientific research into human health, sickness & disease has shown with increasing evidence that living an acid-lifestyle is extremely detrimental to health & that by living alkaline you can increase your health, energy, vitality, immune system, youthfulness and protect yourself from disease.
As recently as October 2009, a Cambridge University study published in the highly respected British Journal of Nutrition stated:

Alkaline Diet & Cancer
Alkaline Minerals Prevent Cancer GrowthIn March 2009, Robey, Baggett, Kirkpatrick et al published a paper in the American Association for Cancer Research Journal proving that alkaline minerals (in this case NaHCO3 – sodium bicarbonate) that raise the extra cellular pH of cancer tumor cells and prevent metastasis. Their research shows that the pH of the tumors are always acidic and by using highly alkaline minerals to raise the pH – the growth of the cancer (and involvement of lymph nodes) is prevented.

Alkaline Minerals Prevent Osteoporosis
A recently published study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (Vol 94, No 1 96-102, 2009) has provided further evidence that the consumption of and supplementation with alkaline minerals is essential for good health. The objective of the study was to understand the effect of alkaline minerals (potassium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride) on bone health – specifically, the ability of these alkaline minerals to slow the bone resorption rate and calcium excretion.
The participants who were taking the bicarbonate supplements had significant reductions in urinary N-telopeptide and calcium excretion when compared to the control group. This means that when taking the alkaline minerals, bones remained stronger and healthier.

(NaturalNews) I had a daydream just today. In it, someone asked me, "What is the number one most important reason that people become acidic?" Without a second thought, I replied, "It is the way they breathe."
It is interesting to be so startled by a daydream that it jolts you into action! This nevertheless happened to me. I thought it through and remembered my studies in human physiology. There is absolutely no mechanism that so quickly can turn your blood acidic or alkaline than breathing.
In his revolutionary work on applied lymphology, Dr. C. Samuel West related that certain Native Americans would never die of disease and frailty, but would sit without moving, breathing very shallow and in 24 hours that person would be dead. This may have to do with many things, not the least of which would be a highly acidic blood stream.
Your blood is actually alkalized when you breathe out carbon dioxide. It follows that there must be a constant exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in order to keep that process working. So the next question arose: what are some of the reasons that people do not breathe properly?
The first and easiest reason is that the person might not know how to breathe or might be impacted strongly by modern society which can be pretty sedentary. Movement causes people to breathe.
In her interesting book "Oxycise!", Jill Johnson has a whole program of breathing combined with stretching and muscle tension designed to create weight loss and health. She says that you can consciously breathe in a way that eliminates fat through carbon dioxide. She says, in fact, that fat is released only through carbon dioxide. She claims that it works 100% of the time.
Other reasons might be diet related. For example, if someone does not take in adequate amounts of high quality glucose, there will need to be a correspondingly lower portion of oxygen since the whole purpose of oxygen is to be used with glucose in manufacturing ATP in the cells, which powers the whole process of life.
High quality glucose is found in only four places: Honey, ripe fruit, non-starchy vegetables and sprouts. These must be raw and enzyme rich so that they will convert to abundant glucose in the digestive tract prior to entering the blood. They also must be whole foods in natural form so that all the components needed for the cells to immediately use the glucose are naturally included.
If a person is low in dietary high-quality glucose, they will tend to breath shallower because the extra oxygen just cannot be used. I recommend that all my clients eat one of the above sources of high quality glucose 20 minutes before each meal on an empty stomach. The results are revolutionary.
Another reason might be that the blood cannot carry oxygen efficiently. Ironically, acidic blood might have this problem, meaning that once you become acidic it is going to take extra work to get back to alkaline. Thankfully, there are other mechanisms to restore alkalinity besides breathing.
Blood might also be weak or anemic. This is where herbal medicine shines brightest. Nothing will restore strong blood as fast as plant foods/medicines. Bowel herbs, particularly yellow dock root, enhance the assimilation of iron and build the blood. Other herbs like wheat grass, alfalfa, astragalus, nettle, burdock root, prickly ash bark, beet root and top, carrot tops, ginger and raspberry leaf are powerful at building blood and increasing oxygen-carrying ability and iron content.
My favorite herb of all for this is comfrey leaf, though it has a bad rap today for a potential danger. I personally use the herb freely and give it to my wife and children and give it in particularly high doses to my wife when pregnant. I feel that it is one of the best things I can do for them. Herbalists for many years have used comfrey leaf for pernicious anemia and it seems to work very fast for this.
I make a wonderful herbal tea that I call "Food Tea." This we keep around and drink freely. It consists of equal parts of the following herbs: Nettle, raspberry leaf, comfrey leaf, oat straw, lemon balm, peppermint, spearmint, lemon grass, shave grass (aka horsetail), pau d'arco, alfalfa leaf and 1/4 part of blessed thistle (which seems to really help with facial acne). On occasion I make a variation with hibiscus flowers (2-3 parts or enough to make it good and red).
This tastes wonderful and builds blood and bones and teeth. We sweeten it with plenty of honey and keep it around.
We use it at our house like a multi-vitamin-mineral. I feel that such a blend is far better than what most people drink in leisure and is probably better than about 99% of the multi-vitamin/mineral supplements on the market today.

Next we shall discuss problems with the lungs and sinuses. Certainly if the lungs are weak, exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide will be poor. If the sinuses have problems, the breathing will be altered, particularly at night.
The most common reason for lung and sinus distress is a highly congesting diet. This would include any food you happen to be reactive to as well as all chemical dyes, dairy, wheat (unless sprouted) and sugar. The next most common problem with lungs and sinuses is constipation. The average American has 3-5 bowel movements per week. Healthy people in rural areas living natural lives have 2-5 bowel movements per day, or one after every major meal. According to Dr. Richard Schulze , this puts the average American 70,000 bowel movements short in their lifetime!
Constipation causes thick, congested mucus in the lungs and sinuses and a good, complete cleansing of the bowel will cause drainage of lymph and a thinning of that mucus. This will result in better immune response and freer breathing.
I recommend regular bowel cleansing and the use of a strengthening bowel formula that will repair the bowel over several months of use.
Then there are some cases of lung and sinus problems that are weak, damaged, diseased or malformed. In these cases, there are wonderful herbs that will help those conditions to heal.
When someone comes to me with lung complaints there are a few herbs that I always go to. I use lobelia tincture if the congestion is recent. Typically, I will give a dropper full of the tincture every half hour until the congestion is loose and moving (yes, they do sometimes throw up, but with that throw up will come more mucus from the lungs than food from the stomach).
If that does not work, I go back to bowel cleansing and I actually use an enema made with cayenne, garlic and apple cider vinegar. This recipe is also in the Preparations Printout from (www.kalsschool.com) as discussed above.
If the congestion is long term, I will usually use Dr. Christopher's Sinus Plus formula. Wind River Herbs' Mullein Blend is also very good. Dr. Christopher's formula was made for shorter term infections, but is actually my choice for rebuilding the lungs too. This is what I use for ex-smokers who have serious lung problems as a result of it. It may take several months to re-build the lungs and if no other dietary changes are made it may take longer.

I suppose I must acknowledge the trouble with air today. Someone suggests about every other day that the government is releasing dangerous toxins into the air or intentionally creating chemtrails behind military airplanes, etc. While this is possible, I only know one thing to do about it, and that is to get our bodies healthy and capable of dealing with lots of such toxins. This means a healthy Diet and regular maintenance of the lungs along with the rest of the body. I cannot help you overthrow a government conspiracy, I can help you survive it and thrive during it!
Let us go on to sinuses:
Occasionally, I will meet someone who has problems with sinuses only, and not lungs. I will still use Dr. Christopher's Sinus Plus and I will encourage looking for food reactions , but I also recommend doing something for the sinuses specifically.
Usually, we make a tea out of oak bark and lobelia. Today I would add oregano in an equal portion. This tea is strained and then a nasal douche is performed with it several times per day if the sinuses are closed or morning and night if the sinus condition is not serious, but is ongoing.
The lungs and sinuses are not hard to heal, but it is important to remove the load from them while using herbs specific for them. The idea is not just to disinfect, but to heal and rebuild.
It is always a good idea to change patterns too. This suggests learning about breathing exercises like those found in "Oxycise!"
Finally, sometimes people will need to do some changing of thinking too. My favorite book for this kind of information is Louise L. Hay's "Heal Your Body A-Z."

How Do We Become So Out of Balance?
After years of societal changes, millions of dollars of marketing spend and technological advances we, as a race, are now facing more dietary based health challenges than ever before. It is no coincidence that the rapidly growing numbers of cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes correlate almost exactly with the rise in consumption of acid forming foods such as sugars, saturated fats, and white breads. At the same time our consumption of fresh vegetables and essential fatty acids has decreased dramatically, making way for convenience and a generation hooked on sugary treats.
Becoming Alkaline
This is not as difficult or as technical as it sounds. When we talk about eating alkaline foods or starting an alkaline diet we are referring to consuming those foods and drink which have an alkaline effect on the body. This effect is based upon the ash residue that remains after our foods are consumed. Some foods leave an acid ash, whereas others leave an alkaline ash. Conveniently for us, our bodies have been designed to categorize which foods leave which kind of ash into neat and easy to remember groups.
Of course, everybody is different - but most of us should aim to eat 75-80% alkaline foods and a maximum of 20-25% acid forming foods.

(NaturalNews) A recent study discovered a new use for common household baking soda. The Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (JASN) reported that a daily dose of baking soda could prevent kidney damage and chronic kidney disease (CKD) in a study entitled, Bicarbonate Supplementation Slows Progression of CKD and Improves Nutritional Status. Baking soda prevents kidney disease and dialysis.
Baking soda is made of sodium bicarbonate. It is used in many households for cleaning. It is known to take the smell out of refrigerators and as an abrasive. Baking soda is used in baking, in soft breads, brownies, cookies, and other non-yeast baked goods. Other health uses for baking soda have already been discovered. It can be used internally to treat sunburns, or internally to aid acid indigestion. Some people brush their teeth with baking soda, and dentists are known to use it to clean teeth. Baking soda helps heal mouth sores and apthae ulcers, too.
The study investigated the use of baking soda in individuals with metabolic acidosis. This is a condition in which a person accumulates too much acid in the bloodstream, due to acid indigestion. Low bicarbonate levels contribute to a number of health conditions, and are an indicator of an underlying health problem. A group of 134 patients with this condition were given a daily dose of sodium bicarbonate in tablet form. Over the two year period of the study, participates had two-thirds less decline in their kidney function, compared to the control group. Only nine percent of the group showed any progression of their disease, compared to 45 percent in the other group. Because of this, those on sodium bicarbonate were less likely to develop renal failure and require kidney dialysis.
Because the study was not double blind, further research will be needed to validate these findings. In fact, the doctors knew which patients were taking the baking soda tablets and there was no control group.
Baking soda has no known side effects and is an inexpensive treatment, especially compared to the costs of kidney dialysis or kidney replacement. "This cheap and simple strategy also improves patients' nutritional status, and has the potential of translating into significant economic, quality of life, and clinical outcome benefits," said Magdi Yaqoob, MD, one of the study's organizers.

Baking Soda Prevents Kidney Disease, Renal Failure and Kidney Dialysis
Both Sea Salt and rock salt were well known to the ancient Greeks who noted that eating salty food affected basic body functions such as digestion and excretion (urine and stools). This led to salt being used medically. The healing methods of Hippocrates (460 BC) especially made frequent use of salt. Salt-based remedies were thought to have expectorant powers. A mixture of water and salt was employed as an emetic.
Drinking a mixture of two-thirds cow's milk and one-third salt-water, in the mornings, on an empty stomach was recommended as a cure for diseases of the spleen. A mixture of salt and honey was applied topically to clean bad ulcers and salt-water was used externally against skin diseases and freckles.
Hippocrates also mentions inhalation of steam from salt-water. We know today that the antiinflammatory effects of inhaled salt provide relief from respiratory symptoms (c).
Thus, 2000 years ago, Greek medicine had already discovered topical use of salt for skin lesions, drinking salty or mineralized waters for digestive troubles and inhaling salt for respiratory diseases!
The doctor and alchemist Paracelsus (1493-1541 A.D.) introduced an entirely new medical concept. He believed that external factors create disease and conceived a chemically oriented medical system which contrasted with the prevalent herbal medicine. Only salted food could be digested properly: 'The human being must have salt, he cannot be without salt. Where there is no salt, nothing will remain, but everything will tend to rot.'
He recommended salt water for the treatment of wounds and for use against intestinal worms. A hip-bath in salt water was a superb remedy for skin diseases and itching: 'This brine - he said - is better than all the health spas arising out of nature.' He described the diuretic effect of salt consumption and prescribed salt preparations of different strengths that were used for instance against constipation.
'In recent years there has been much publicity about the need to reduce salt consumption in societies where salt is added to many processed foods (Denton 1984, 584-7).
It has tended to be forgotten that some salt intake is absolutely necessary; that people need salt, sodium chloride, to survive: The chemical requirements of the human body demand that the salt concentration in the blood be kept constant. If the body does not get enough salt, a hormonal mechanism compensates by reducing
the excretion of salt in the urine and sweat. But it cannot reduce this output to zero.
On a completely salt-free diet the body steadily loses small amounts of salt via the kidneys and sweat glands. It then attempts to adjust this by accelerating its secretion of water, so that the blood's salt concentration can be maintained at the vital level. The result is a gradual desiccation of the body and finally death.' Roy Moxham

Science and medicine have tried to define the precise roles of salt in the healthy and diseased human organism. Sodium and chloride ions, as well as potassium ions, create a measurable difference in potential across cell membranes. This ensures that the fluid inside living cells remains separate from that outside. Thus, although the human body consists mainly of water, our 'inner ocean' does not flow away or evaporate. Sodium ions create a high pressure of liquid in the kidneys and thus regulate
their metabolic function.
Water is extracted through the renal drainage system. The body thus loses a minimal amount of essential alkaline water. Out of 1500 liters of blood which pass daily through the kidneys, only about 1.5 liters of liquid leave the body as urine.
Salt is 'fuel' for nerves. Streams of positively and negatively charged ions send impulses to nerve fibers. A muscle cell will only contract if an impulse reaches it. Nerve impulses are partly propelled by co-ordinated changes in charged particles.
Fish from the ocean will die quickly if placed in a solution of refined salt and water. The sodium chloride, in its form as it comes from the refinery, is actually poisonous to them. Bottom line, is that yes it can be harmful to consume too much refined salt, but you cannot consume too much natural unrefined liquid real salt.

In conclusion the question, "does salt cause high blood pressure?" The answer is absolutely NOT! High blood pressure is caused by dietary and metabolic acids that are not being properly eliminated through urination, defecation, perspiration and respiration. The truth is, you do not get high blood pressure you do high blood pressure with your lifestyle and dietary choices. Here are five non-contagious Holiday Season lifestyle and dietary conditions (called diseases by allopathic medicine) for which I have given new names:
1) "I ate too much Sugar disease" is caused by children who ingest too much acidic sugarary treats the night of Halloween and/or the day after. Some of the symptoms including, belching, throwing up, constipation, stomach ache, headache, aches and pains throughout the body, light headedness, dizziness, cold hands, cold feet, and even loss of consciousness. If the child continues to ingest acidic Halloween treats through out the week this may lead to more serious conditions or symptoms, such as ADD, ADHD, leukemia, lymphatic congestion, coma or even lymphatic cancer. The best way to treat "I ate too much Sugar disease" is to stop eating the acid Sugar and start alkalizing the body to re-establish its alkaline design. This will then lead to restored health and energy.
2) "Traveler's Acidic Consequence" is a result of the sum total consumption and behaviors of a traveler during their more unusual or somewhat different from normal lifestyle than when they were not traveling. A typical traveler's day will upset one's normal metabolism and digestive habits. They eat and drink different foods at different times and different volumes than usual, which creates an over-acidic state and a need for more alkaline buffers (sodium bicarbonate) leading to indigestion, nausea, acid reflux, heart burn, belching, flatulence, vomiting, constipation, dehydration and further problems of acidity, depending on the degree of irregularity.
"Traveler's Acidic Consequence" is commonly blamed by allopathic medical Science on a particular site on the traveler's path as if he or she caught something. This current medical ideology is based on Pasteur's germ theory and is a scientific myth or illusion.
The true cause of this condition is the result of the traveler's acidic dietary choices and the lack of alkaline hydration, nutrition and hygiene that can result in this over-acidic condition. All the above symptoms are the body in reservation mode trying its best to maintain the alkaline pH of the internal environment at 7.365 to 7.4.
3) Holiday Season - "I Ate and Drank Too Much Sugar Dis-Ease" is a result of the sum total consumption and behaviors of a person during the Holiday season eating and drinking everything in site from "swine to wine." This over indulgence may cause belching and flatulence and eventual heart burn, acid reflux, nausea and constipation for which medical Science will often prescribe the purple pill. This Holiday Season condition, beginning with Halloween may then lead to the third Holiday Season consequence -
4) "Holiday Season Food Drunk" is a result of over-eating and over-drinking acidic foods and liquids and then falling into a drunken state on the sofa or bed for several hours or even days to sleep off all the acidity. Falling asleep after a heavy Holiday meal is a common occurrence for over-eaters and drinkers.
5) "Holiday Season Influenza" (The Flu) is a result of the sum total consumption and behaviors of a person during a so-called Holiday acidic feasting. They will consume acidic foods and drinks that they may not know or know that are not healthy or alkalizing, i.e., more sugar or sugar substitutes than normal, alcohol, meats and much of this at greater volumes than normal. They become detrimentally influenced physically and emotionally by Holiday acidic foods and drinks.
According to medical savants, "Holiday Season Influenza" is commonly blamed on a particular virus contracted from another person(s) and not from acidic lifestyle and dietary choices of that person. Like the acidic traveler, a person chooses to consume on their own as many acidic foods and drinks during the Holiday Season and as a result are suffering from the consequences of their poor dietary choices -- not from some phantom flu virus! The flu is nothing more than the body increasing temperature to improve circulation to remove excess acidity from over-acidic lifestyle and dietary choices, through perspiration, respiration, defecation and urination.
Also, please keep in mind it doesn't take either traveling or Holidays for someone to express the symptoms of "I Ate Too Much Sugar Disease," "Traveler's Acidic Consequence" and/or "Holiday Season Influenza." All you need to do is consume excessive amounts of acidic meats, chocolate, ice cream, cake, candies, alcohol or other acidic thrillers. This can also happen anytime of the year.
This Holiday Season may you resolve not to succumb to the acidic choices that lead to "Traveler's Acidic Consequence," "I Ate and Drank Too Much Sugar Dis-ease," "Holiday Season Food Drunk" and/or "Holiday Season Influenza."
I hope one day we can learn to take responsibility for our own lifestyle and dietary choices and the consequences we experience rather then blame it or
transfer personal responsibility to a phantom or harmless virus - like the flu virus, ebola virus, HIV virus, HPV virus, West Nile virus, Bird flu virus, and the list goes on and on and on!

You can check your pH levels at home with paper pH strips, available at many pharmacies, or with a battery-operated pH electron meter, available from health catalogues or on our website at: www.phmiracleliving.com
The strips, which are relatively inexpensive and should be easy to find, test the pH of your saliva or urine. The pH of saliva is much more variable, so you are better off testing your urine, which gives you a direct indicator of your tissue pH. Urine pH changes too, in response to what you eat, so first thing in the morning, after you've fasted overnight, is the ideal time to test. The morning urine pH will reflect your lifestyle and dietary choices over the last 24 hours. Ideally, it will be mildly alkaline, pH at 7.2 or higher.
The strips change color to indicate acid or base, and are lighter or darker depending on the intensity of the reading. They come with a color chart to help you translate the color into a number.
If you also want to check your saliva, which ideally will also be above 7.2, test it before eating anything in the morning, and then a few times during the day. If you find that your results are below 7.0, you can correct it immediately by eating a bit of particularly alkaline food, like cucumber, broccoli, asparagus or avocado, or taking 3 teaspoons of Young pHorever pHlavor mineral salts in 4-6 ounces of water. Experiment a little and you will quickly get a feel for what successfully corrects your tests results.
The meters can also be used to test saliva or urine, and the same recommendations apply: It is best to test your urine, and do it first thing in the morning. These meters are quite accurate and give you your pH with a number--no color charts to mess with. But they can be hard to find, and expensive, running into the hundreds of dollars.
So test yourself to see where you are right now, and then retest daily to keep tabs on your progress. You can also see for yourself the effect of meals on pH, by regularly testing with a meter throughout the day. Though the results are not definitive, you will at the very least be able to see trends.
Test yourself after the basic meals like the ones described in our pH Miracle books and Shelley's Back to the House of Health books, and compare the result to those you got from your original diet. Any time you have low pH readings, especially after eating, you know that you are deficient in alkaline reserves. Your body does not have enough of the minerals necessary to process food properly, and cannot adequately respond to the physiological crisis of acidic food or drink.
Your doctor can also do a blood pH test for you. As mentioned in previous emails, the ideal blood pH is 7.365. The American medical establishment accepts 7.4, but that is too alkaline, and actually indicates tissue acidification. It indicates that the body is collecting and storing alkaline minerals to tame excess acidity. If it isn't fending off acidity, the body has no need to become so overly alkaline.
Daily pH testing is a key health check. As long as you are keeping it at 7.2 or better, then you can rest assured your blood and tissues are also healthy. (People coping with serious health challenges may need to increase the pH of the urine or other bodily fluids in order to curb acidity. I recommend that the pH during any serious challenge to be in excess of 8.5)
Monitor your pH according to these guidelines every day for at least 12 weeks, or until you establish a pH balance at 7.2 (with the help of the pH Miracle program outlined in Chapter 11 of the pH Miracle for Weight Loss). Once your are balanced at 7.2 or higher, you can reduce the number of tests to once a day or 2-3 times a week, just to keep an eye on things. Use a notebook to record all your pH results.
1. Upon waking, before you eat or drink or brush your teeth or smoke or put anything at all into your mouth, test your saliva with pH paper. Just wet the end of a test strip with your tongue. Note the color change and write down the corresponding pH number. The optimal result is 7.2.
2. Next, test your first urine of the morning. You just need a couple drops on the end of a test paper. Note the color change and write down the corresponding pH number. The optimal result is 7.2 or more.
3. Test your second morning urine before eating any food. Your result may differ from the first check, because with the first urine you cleared the acid load from the previous day. Again, you're looking for 7.2 or higher.
4. Eat breakfast -- avocado soup, vegetable soup, Healing Soup, or fresh almond milk or green drink. Wait five minutes and then check your urine and saliva again. After that good alkaline meal, your pH numbers should go up from the previous results. You're looking to be between 7.2 and 8.4.
5. Check your urine and saliva pH again between breakfast and lunch, and again between lunch and dinner. You're always looking to stay between 7.2 and 8.4 right after a meal, and at just about 7.2 a couple of hours after a meal.
You can run a simple pH test any time of the day after eating a few almonds. In a health person with adequate alkaline reserves, saliva pH will go up almost immediately to 8.4.
Monitoring your pH puts the responsibility of caring for your health back into your hands. It also lets you track your own results as you make positive changes in your lifestyle and diet, giving you immediate feedback about how you eat, drink and live affects your body and your health -- and ultimately, the quality and quantity of your life.
Live Blood Analysis
If your urine or saliva (or blood) are acidic, it's a safe bet that you have tissue acidosis and possible microform overgrowth.
The simple fact is, most people do.
Live blood analysis more directly detect over-acidity and overgrowth. In a standard lab evaluation performed by hospitals and clinics, drops of blood are basically dried onto a slide to be examined under a familiar bright-field microscope, where acidic patterns in the blood and many of these negative microforms cannot be seen. Live blood analysis, by contrast, examines unaltered live blood, under special dark-field, phase-contrast compound microscopes. The high-powered compound microscope can magnify objects up to twenty-eight thousand times, so you can clearly view acid crystals, bacteria, yeast, and mold in exact detail in the blood. You can also see red and white blood cells, crystallized microforms, mycotoxins, cholesterol, metals, blood clots, undigested fats, and many other things--all in one drop of live blood! Bottom line: though it can also provide a lot more information, live blood analysis gives you a plain view of how crowded your blood is with acid crystals and
undesirable microforms.
When I look at live blood, I also look at the space between the cells, where the extracellular fluid, or plasma, is. I call this the negative space, or context. The blood cells, and the blood overall, is only as healthy as this plasma in which they are bathed.
The blood never lies. What you see when you look at it this way is a direct reflection of your health, and what your are eating, drinking, and thinking. In short, it shows how you are living.
I have viewed the blood of thousands of people around the world -- over 500,000 blood samples in over 72 countries -- and through my work I can tell you: there are only two types of blood: healthy, and unhealthy!
Whenever I analyze someone's blood, I always ask them the same questions. What are you eating? What are you drinking? What are you thinking? What are you feeling? The people whose blood looks the best -- the people who live the longest -- are eating green foods, breathing clean air, drinking clean water, finding ways to manage stress, working outside, exercising daily and getting lots of sunshine. And I can see the effects of all that in one drop of blood, no question.

Dry Blood Analysis
After years of researching German techniques in dry blood analysis, I've developed a test called the Mycotoxic/Oxidative Stress Test (M/OST), which involves a small amount of blood allowed to dry and clot on a microscope slide. (Contact the pH Miracle Living Center for a referral.) Under the microscope, blood from healthy people forms a standard pattern--a dense mat of red areas interconnected by dark, irregular lines, called fibrin. The blood of people under mycotoxic/oxidative stress--meaning excess acidity and microform overload and the resulting harmful wastes--has a variety of characteristic patterns that deviate from that norm. One common (and visually striking) abnormality is the presence of "clear" or white areas interrupting the standard pattern. The extent and shape of the clear areas reflect the symptoms that are likely to arise as a result of excess acidity, overgrowth and cellular degeneration. That is, the pattern the blood reveals not only the presence of micro
form overgrowth, excess acidity and cellular degeneration but also the particular ways that overgrowth is affecting the individual. Certain patterns match certain symptoms, such as diabetes, arthritis, atherosclerosis, and even a cancerous condition.
In the end, however, getting all the details about your exact situation isn't absolutely necessary (though witnessing a live and dry blood analysis may be motivating like nothing else!).
Anyone on the standard American diet is, to a greater or lesser degree, imbalanced--acidic. If you have any symptoms, you can be sure you are imbalanced and over-acid. On the other hand, if you follow the program outlined in our pH Miracle books, doing what you know is right for your body, you can rely on your body to handle the complex details of self-repair. Your results -- how you look and feel -- will speak for themselves. Freed from acid overload, you'll be symptom-free, full of energy, and mentally wide awake. Get Tested Every Year
You should have a live blood analysis done every year, and a dried blood analysis as well, assuming you are starting in a state of general good health. Annual testing will keep you conscious of what it takes to maintain a healthy and fit body, give you feedback on your success, and warn you of any looming problems.
If you are dealing with a symptom or condition, then live and dried blood cell microscopy should be done every 72 hours while you are symptomatic. As the symptoms improve, move to testing every 12 weeks. Once your condition has resolved, you can go back to getting tested once a year.
Testing the pH of your urine and saliva daily (as above) provides reassurance between blood tests.

The purpose of this email is to open your mind to the illusion of the germ theory that imprisons many us and to study the history of how this illusion was created.
One must challenge everything in the modern construct of immunology and what is said to be the immune system. The basis of modern immunology is founded on Louis Pasteur, the fraud, impostor, deceiver and self promoter. There is a serious problem to where every word and part of the anatomy must be questioned to find their use and function because of the fraud of Louis Pasteur.
For example, the word influenza means influence. Originally, influenza was said to come from the stars or heavens. The Avian Influenza is an influenza of a bird influence. More specifically, it is an influence of bird waste. The bird consumption industry in Southeast Asia is overcrowded to the point that the chickens are consuming their own waste, producing an over-acidification of the birds and workers that must work in the acidic air and waste.
It could be more accurately called Acidic Bird or Chicken Excrement Influenza that is only contagious to those consuming acidic birds, like chicken or breathing chemically altered air from chicken excrement. Because chickens do not have a urinary tract system, like humans and animals they are more likely to absorb their own acidic urine into their tissues. I guess you could say that's what makes chicken flesh or turkey flesh taste so juicy and why chicken or turkey flesh should never be consumed by humans!
Here is a second example of Pasteurian scientific dogma. The word virus is originally Latin meaning poison, as in snake venom, (being too acidic). When a serious snake bite releases venom or acid into the skin and soft tissues, the small sweat vessels become so enlarged that red corpuscles can flow into the tiny seat glands, showing red skin patterns and allowing the venom or acids to escape through the skin. Acidity dissolves and enlarges blood vessels for the movement of acidic fluids or gases. Alkalinity constricts and normalizes the blood vessels.
The point being that viruses are molecular liquids or gases (venom) that can be created by chemical imbalances in humans, plants and animals (by malnutrition or toxic acidic food and/or drink consumption), also created in humans, plants and animal glands, sometimes used in defense (snake venom) or emergency (overactive adrenals), also can be crystallized in laboratories, rarely, if ever crystallized in vivo, and foolish to call viruses contagious when viruses are nothing more than acidic liquids or gases from biological transformation or rotting matter.
In snake bites, lifestyle choices and diets -- it is not the bite or food that kills it is the venom or acid from the bite or food that kills. Ultimately, it is in ones personal choice that gives life or takes life! Life and death is a consequence of choice!
My final example is in defining the truth about antibodies and antigens. Antibodies are chemical clusters or alkaline buffers to a typical acidic condition properly referred to as antigens or enzymes. So called antibodies are released from healthy organ cells, such as the liver, in response to buffer and neutralize the acidity or liquid acid antigen that was first introduced. It must be noted that the word, antibody and antigen, are a Pasteurian dogma construct. The mind set being that an antibody or now even Antibiotics , are defending or responding to bodies, microbes or invisible bodies or what I call phantom viruses, like Avian, SARS, or even HIV -- even though HIV is not a virus but an alkaline antibody to buffer acid or antigens. The chemical response is actually due to an introduction, vector or antigen of a chemical nature, typically acidic, not a body, microbe or bacteria or yeast.
If bacteria, yeast, fungus or mold are transferred into another individual it must be made in a balanced liquid medium to support that fragile microbe or insignificant entity in order to survive. The main point here is that bacteria, yeast, fungus or mold do not cause sickness and disease (including cancer) as theorized by Pasteur and most recently suggested by Dr. Simoncini, an oncologist from Rome, Italy --- sickness and disease (including cancer and HIV) is a result of excess acidity or antigens that have not been properly buffered by antibodies or bases such as sodium bicarbonate. These fragile microforms or microbes are the expression of cellular transformation from once healthy human, plant or animal cells due to an over acidic environment. Sickness and disease can only be caused by an over acidification (abundance of antigens) of the fluids of the body due to our own personal lifestyle and dietary choices.
As you contemplate the cause of the flu, cold or any so-called infection, may I suggest that each of us take personal responsibility for the consequences of our choices, rather than blame a phantom Avian Influenza virus, cold virus, flu virus, cancer virus or some non-existent HIV virus. If you get sick, it is your own fault and not the cause of some phantom virus that you can blame to cover your own lifestyle and dietary transgressions. Save your money and save your life by making alkalizing and energizing lifestyle and dietary choices. This is where true immunity is found -- not in a vaccine or a drug which are all acidic and poisonous to the body but in living an alkaline lifestyle.
I love the words of Hippocrates when he said, 'Let your medicine be your food and your food be your medicine.'
In closing, I quote Abraham Lincoln who said ' . . . but you can't fool all the people, all of the time.'
Is it now time that we wake up from the fraud and deception of Louis Pasteur's medical Science and break the chains that can prevent us from incredible outstanding good health, energy and a long a prosperous life free from all sickness and disease? Is it now time for us to be truly free in all ways -- physically, emotionally and spiritually?
I believe with all my heart that the answers to all questions can be found and realized in understanding and choosing truth, light and life over deception, darkness and death. For the truth can and will always set us free, in all ways!

A diet rich in magnesium appears to reduce the risk developing painful gallstones, according to findings from a US study.
Consumption of magnesium has been declining over the years, due in part to the overprocessing of foods, Dr. Chung-Jyi Tsai and associates note in their report in the American Journal of Gastroenterology.
Magnesium deficiency is known to raise triglyceride levels and decrease HDL ("good") cholesterol levels in the blood, both of which may increase the risk of developing gallstones.
According to Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist at the pH Miracle Living Center, "magnesium is a major alkaline buffer of dietary and metabolic acids, which can cause
brain stones, breast stones, liver stones and gallbladder stones. When we increase magnesium the body can better regulate fluid pH, temperature and oxidative reduction potential. It is also important to understand that all stones, wherever they may appear in the body are nothing more then
dietary and/or metabolic acids that have been chelated or buffered with alkaline mineral salts in protecting and preserving
the delicate alkaline design of the body."

To investigate, Tsai, from the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, and colleagues analyzed data from 42,705 men, between 40 and 75 years of age, who were enrolled in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study. The men were followed from 1986 to 2002.
The subjects were surveyed every 2 years to assess the occurrence of new illnesses, including gallbladder dis-ease. Magnesium consumption was determined with a semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire sent to the participants every 4 years.
During follow-up, 2195 men were diagnosed with acidic gallstones, the researchers found.
Compared with the lowest level of total magnesium intake, the highest intake reduced the risk of acidic galltones by 33 percent. The same risk reduction was seen when considering just dietary magnesium, when supplements were excluded.
"From many studies by this group and others, it appears that a generally healthy dietary pattern, with more plant-based foods, fiber, and increasing complex carbohydrates, and now increasing magnesium intake will decrease the risk of symptomatic gallstones," Dr. Cynthia W. Ko, from the Uiversity of Washington in Seattle, writes in an accompanying
editorial. "This 'healthy' alkaline dietary pattern will also help in prevention of other chronic dis-eases in addition to gallstones."

A lack of magnesium accelerates aging or fermentation of human cells, which may explain the link between any long-term deficiency and a higher risk of aging-related dis-eases, a study released Monday said.
Magnesium is essential for hundreds of biochemical reactions in the body. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, and keeps bones strong.
Yet research has shown that, at least in the United States, more than half the population is lacking in magnesium due to deficiencies in their diet, potentially increasing their risk of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis and many cancerous conditions.
To try to understand why magnesium deficiency predisposes people to dis-ease, Bruce Ames and researchers at Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute in California studied the long-term effects of moderate magnesium deficiency on human fibroblasts, cells that provide a structural framework for many tissues in the body.
They cultured the cells for their entire lifespan, a period of three to four months, to mimic the effects of a lack of magnesium in the study which appears in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
They found that while the cells survived and divided normally under moderate magnesium-depleted conditions, they appeared to become older quicker than cells grown in normal magnesium concentrations.
"Magnesium deficiency affects the way the cells age. Accelerated cellular aging affects the way tissue functions," said David Killilea, an associate staff scientist in the Nutrition and Metabolism Center at Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute.
"We are now thinking that cellular consequences of magnesium deficiency may be driving long-term chronic "disease."
Ames and Killilea suggested the markers of accelerated cellular aging in magnesium-deficient cells may indicate that the cells were in triage mode, saving resources for indispensable metabolic processes at the expense of long-term function.
As for diagnosing and treating chronic moderate magnesium deficiency, there is no good laboratory marker for this type of condition. It tends to fly under the radar, the scientists said.
"You could be moderately deficient for a long time and not know it," said Killilea.
Food sources rich in the micronutrient include green vegetables and fruits such as spinach, parsley, leafy greens, avocado, cucumber, nuts, and seeds.
I would also suggest magnesium in the form of magnesium carbonate and magnesium oxide.

(NaturalNews) With the aging population of the United States, the incidence of so-called age-related diseases should be expected to rise. In fact the incidence of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and a host of other diseases have been steadily rising for all age groups until it has reached epidemic proportions. That is because the factors of stress, lack of physical activity, environmental pollutants and a diet high in acid-producing foods collectively create the underlying cause of most degenerative diseases: acidosis.
Proper Acid/Alkaline Balance is Fundamental
What is acidosis? It is the reduced alkalinity of our blood and tissues. Why is this so important? Our body stays alive and healthy only because all of its 100 trillion cells communicate with each other. They do this through electrical, chemical and hormonal processes. In order for these signaling mechanisms to work, the body’s internal environment must be in a slightly alkaline state. If our body becomes too acidic, it adversely affects the functioning of all its parts: heart cells, blood cells, brain cells, nerve cells, muscle cells, bone cells, even skin and hair cells. Obviously, this leaves us vulnerable to all sorts of health problems.
The acidity or alkalinity of a substance is usually expressed as a number on the “pH” scale. The pH scale goes from 1 to 14, with 1 being most acidic, 7 being neutral and 14 most alkaline, (The symbol “pH” is the abbreviation for “power of hydrogen,” a measurement of the concentration of hydrogen ions). For blood, a pH level of 7.43 - just slightly alkaline - is optimal. Levels lower than 7.0 indicate an overly acidic state (acidosis) while levels above 7.5 indicate an overly alkaline state (called alkalosis).
The Problem with Chronic Acidosis
Acidosis begins when the body cannot properly dispose of excessive acids building up in the bloodstream. The body attempts to maintain proper pH balance by eliminating the excess acids through the kidneys, lungs and skin or by neutralizing the acids during the processes of digestion and cellular metabolism. However, when too much acid is produced, the body cannot keep pace. The excess waste overwhelms the system, polluting the blood and impairing the ability of the body’s cells to communicate.
In an effort to protect vital organs, the body diverts the harmful acids to store in tissues, joints and bones. This might make the organs temporarily safe, but the diversion can cause joint and skeletal problems such as osteo- and Rheumatoid Arthritis ; skin conditions such as dermatitis and eczema; and tissue problems such as chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.
Over time, the acids build up in the organs where they begin to disrupt normal functioning. This produces more waste, which further lowers the body’s pH level. The decreased pH level means that the body is inundated with more dangerous acids and the problem becomes even more severe. Without restoring balance, cell walls harden and solidify. Our organs deteriorate as the cells die off, which further exacerbates our acidic condition. Now the body’s state of acidosis is a prime breeding ground for pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, molds and parasites, which feed off of the diseased tissues and organs. Acidosis literally destroys the body from the inside out, paving the way for disease to take over.
In an attempt to neutralize excess acids, the body draws on its store of alkalizing minerals. Calcium, magnesium and sodium are drawn into the bloodstream at the expense of the bones and organs that these minerals were taken from. The bones are often the hardest hit, as they are drained of their necessary calcium reserves, leading to bone thinning and an increased risk of osteoporosis, rheumatism and fractures. The teeth also suffer as a result of the demineralization, making them more brittle and cavity-prone.
Keeping the body in an acidic state for a prolonged period of time can dramatically accelerate aging. Cellular structures become altered. Cell membranes become narrower and weaker. The cells eventually begin making “mistakes” as they try to repair and regenerate themselves. Acidosis inhibits the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen is the principal protein of our bones, cartilage, tendons and skin and provides rigidity. Elastin is a protein that gives our skin, blood vessels and organs elasticity. Without collagen and elastin, the body loses its youthful appearance, as it is no longer able to sustain moisturized and wrinkle-free skin. Internally, the body is also aging more rapidly. The premature cell death impairs brain function as the neurons can no longer properly conduct impulses. We begin to experience memory loss and the abilities to learn and reason decline.
With untreated acidosis, excess acids within the body attack the tissues and organs, resulting in inflammation, lesions and hardening of organ tissues. The skin and kidneys are especially sensitive to the harmful acids. Hives, eczema, blotching and itching can occur from acidic sweat passing through the skin’s pores. The kidneys can become inflamed, which can lead to frequent urinary tract infections. Hardening of tissues and inflammation are also contributors to cardiovascular disease, and the resultant increased risk of heart attack or stroke.
In a state of acidosis, there is less oxygen available to the body. Many pathogens live in oxygen-deprived environments. Acidosis, then, makes the body a prime breeding ground for harmful microorganisms to live. Acid buildup also takes a nasty toll on the body’s immune function by seriously diminishing the production of white blood cells. The white blood cells that are generated are of reduced strength, making it even easier for disease and infection to take hold within the body. Dangerous microorganisms can now spread throughout the body, seeking out weakened areas. They break down tissues and interfere with biological processes, leaving behind a deadly wake of waste, which further perpetuates the acidic state.
Chronic acidosis also contributes to a state of insulin resistance within the body by interfering with glucose delivery to the cells. Normally, ordinary levels of insulin will escort glucose into the cells. With acidosis, the cell receptors fail to recognize the insulin hormone and deny it access to deposit the glucose, causing Sugar to build up within the bloodstream. The pancreas, unaware of the insulin resistance, steps up insulin production in an effort to pump out enough of the hormone to remedy the situation. The body interprets the lack of glucose within the cells as starvation and begins to convert every calorie into fat. As a result, obesity and diabetes ensue.
Restoring Acid-Alkaline Balance
The most effective way to reduce acids within the body is by enacting dietary changes. A proper diet should be comprised of 60-80% alkalizing foods and 40-20% acid-forming foods. The Standard American Diet is mostly made up of acid-forming foods including coffee, tea, wine and most proteins (with the exception of milk, butter, soft cheese and almonds) as well as most fats, cereals and sugars. On the other hand, almost all fruits and vegetables (except for tomatoes, cranberries and blueberries) are alkalizing.

Just a few weeks ago, Time Magazine published data that shows the State of Utah spends less per capita on health care than any other state in the country. "Being obese or even overweight indicates the body is in a state of latent tissue acidosis and the body is in preservation mode. Obesity or being over-weight does not cause cancer directly or indirectly. Dietary and/or metabolic acids that can cause cancer when not eliminated through urination, defecation, respiration or perspiration are buffered and stored in the body's fatty and
connective tissues. This can increase a person's risk of developing up to a dozen different types of cancers," states Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist at the pH Miracle Living Center, commenting on a new European study on obesity and the link to cancer.
Doctors have long suspected a link between weight gain and certain cancers, including colon and breast cancers. But the new study, published Friday in the journal Lancet, suggests it could also increase chances for cancer of the esophagus, thyroid, kidney, uterus and gall bladder, among others.
While the study suggests a link, there is no definitive proof that being fat in itself causes cancer.
Dr. Young states, "cancer is a liquid acid from diet and metabolism. The body uses fat to protect itself from these dietary and metabolic acids which can damage and destroy healthy blood and body cells leading to a cancerous condition. The key to the prevention of cancer and losing weight is by reducing dietary and/or metabolic acids that cause cancer and then the fat will automatically and naturally melt away."
"To make the link between cause and effect, we need to tick several boxes," said Dr. Andrew Renehan, the study's lead author and senior lecturer at the School of Cancer Studies at the University of Manchester. "This study begins to tick the first two or three boxes, but more research is needed to confirm it."
The researchers compiled data from 141 studies and considered more types of cancers and more diverse populations than had been done previously. The research covered more than 280,000 cases from North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
The subjects, both overweight and normal weight, were followed for about nine to 15 years, with researchers tracking their body mass index, or BMI -- a calculation based on weight and height -- and correlating it with incidents of cancer.
In men, an average weight gain of 33 pounds increased the risk of esophageal cancer by 52 percent, thyroid cancer by 33 percent, and colon and kidney cancers each by 24 percent, the research found.
In women, a weight gain of 29 pounds increased the risk of cancer in the uterus and gall bladder by nearly 60 percent, esophagus by 51 percent and kidney by 34 percent, the study said.
The link was weaker for bone and blood cancers, for both men and women.
In Asian populations, there appeared to be a stronger link between increased BMI and breast cancer, the study said.
"This study provides a lot of circumstantial evidence about the dangers of obesity," said Dr. David Robbins, a gastroenterologist at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, who was not involved in the study. "It also highlights the cancer crisis we face as obesity rates increase worldwide."
Scientists are unsure how being overweight could make people more susceptible to cancer.
"One of the hypotheses is that the presence of excess fat cells could affect the levels of hormones in your body," Renehan said. "At a cellular level, that may favor the development of tumors in humans."
According to Dr. Young, "the answer is simple, cancer is a four letter word, A C I D. Eliminate the acids from the body tissues and NO MORE CANCER and NO MORE OVER-WEIGHT or OBESITY. Once the acid cancer is being properly eliminated through the four channels of elimination the body will stop parking its acid on the hips, thighs, buttocks, waistline, breasts and brain."
Because many studies have found that fatter people are more likely to get cancer, experts often recommend losing weight to reduce cancer risk.
Dr. Young states, "overweight and obese people should understand they are not overweight or obese they are over-acid from poor lifestyle and dietary choices. They should thank God for their fat and realize that it is saving their life. Then they should start
alkalizing their blood and tissues with alkaline foods and drinks and watch the weight fall off the body naturally and without effort."
"The simple message is that, if you manage to keep a healthy body weight, you will have a lower risk of developing cancer," said Ed Yong, of Cancer Research United Kingdom.
"The real answer is understanding that the body is alkaline by design and acidic by function. The cause and the cure for cancer is now known. The cause is over-acidity and the cure is in preventing over-acidity by over-alkalizing the blood and tissues," states Dr. Young.

Eating and drinking an alkaline diet of fresh fruit and vegetables can reduce calcium excretion and boost bone health, says a new study.
Diets high in acidic protein and cereal grain produce an excess of acid residue in the body, which can increase calcium excretion, according to results to be published in the January issue of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.
"When it comes to dietary concerns regarding bone health, calcium and vitamin D have received the most attention, but there is increasing evidence that the acid/base balance of the diet is also important," said lead author Bess Dawson-Hughes from Tufts University in Boston.
Bone health is becoming a major segment of the supplements and functional foods market, as ageing populations and the additional strain from acid caused obesity swell the numbers affected by the symptom of osteoporosis. Already the lifetime risk for a woman to have an osteoporotic fracture is 30-40 per cent and in men the risk is about 13 per cent.
"As adults age they become less able to excrete the acid produced via environment, diet, and metabolism," states Dr. Robert O. Young, Director of the pH Miracle Living Center.
"Reacting to the increasing levels of dietary and metabolic acid, the body counters this by bone resorption, a process by which bones are broken down, releasing minerals such as calcium, phosphates, and alkaline (basic) salts into the blood to keep it alkaline at 7.364. Bone resorption weakens the bones and increases the risk of fracture," states Dr. Young.
Tufts researchers, in collaboration with scientists from Northeastern University in Boston, recruited 171 men and women aged 50 or older and randomly assigned them to receive supplements of potassium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, potassium chloride or placebo for three months.
Dawson-Hughes and her co-workers report that only bicarbonate-receiving volunteers had significant reductions in calcium excretion, which indicated a reduction in bone resorption.
"When fruit and vegetables are metabolized they add bicarbonate, an alkaline compound, to the body," said Dr. Dawson Hughes. "Our study found that bicarbonate had a favorable effect on bone resorption and calcium excretion. This suggests that increasing the alkali content of the diet may attenuate bone loss in healthy older adults."
"Achieving alkali-producing diets would require drastic changes in food choices and be challenging in older people who tend to have long-established dietary patterns," wrote the researchers.
"Should it be shown to be beneficial, an alternative approach may be to administer bicarbonate in supplement form or to lower the acid-producing capacity of selected foods through alkali fortification," they added.

The FDA is "evaluating" new adverse-event reports for 20 drugs, the agency announced today.
A 2007 federal law requires the FDA to disclose all its investigations into reports of possibly drug-related adverse events. Today's list is the first of this series of quarterly reports.
The list includes adverse events reported between Jan. 1 and March 31, 2008. FDA officials say it will be "weeks or months" before more recent reports are made.
All of the reports on the list come from the FDA's early-warning system for drugs already on the market. This Adverse Event Reporting System (AERS) collects reports from patients, hospitals, doctors, and drug companies about suspicious problems that might -- or might not -- be related to a medication.
"If a drug is listed, it means we have begun an analysis to see if there is a safety problem that requires further evaluation," Gerald Dal Pan, MD, MPH, director of the FDA office of surveillance and epidemiology, said at a news conference.
When that evaluation is done, the FDA will either issue further warnings or an all-clear, Dal Pan said.

The report does not say how many people were affected by these possible drug reactions, nor does it give any indication of their severity.
"Our safety evaluators will look at the seriousness of the event, whether we are seeing greater numbers of a certain kind of event we should not expect, whether there is something new and not known about the drug, or whether this is something known but which may require refinement of our knowledge," Dal Pan said.
"This extends our commitment to keep the public and the health care community informed of what we are evaluating," Paul Seligman, MD, MPH, FDA associate director of safety policy and communication, said at the news conference.
According to Dr. Robert O. 2) Oysters. Men have valued oysters as an aphrodisiac for thousands of years, and there is some basis for this belief. Eating a few oysters everyday (and real men prefer them raw, right?) provides an abundant supply of the antioxidant mineral zinc, which is used by the body in numerous processes, from cell repair to DNA synthesis. Oysters are nature's single best source of zinc, providing almost 100 mg per gram. Research shows that zinc improves the function of the male reproductive system and may protect against prostate cancer.
3) Avocado. Avocado are nature's sports snack for men, being easily opened with a butter knife and with its own biodegradable wrapper. Some might look at the tear-drop shape (the shape of the testes) and think in terms of the ancient medical Doctrine of Signatures, which held that the key to the usage of plants was indicated by the plant's form and shape. Whether true or not, active men benefit from the avocado because they are in fact chock-full of potassium, a mineral that plays an essential role in cardiac, skeletal, and muscular health. Avocado contains more potassium per gram then a banana with less acidic sugar. It is key to regulating heartbeat and blood pressure. Throw a avocado in your gym bag--just one replaces the potassium lost during an hour of hard exercise. Also, keep in mind that avocado contains a phytonutrient called luctein which helps to prevent and/or reverse a cancerous reproductive system.

4) Hemp Meal, Hemp Protein and Hemp Oil. Hemp is big in healthful omega-3 fatty acids, and 3 tablespoons meets the American Heart Association recommendation. Omega-3 fatty acids protect the heart by lowering acidic triglyceride [blood acid bound to fat] levels and reducing aches and pains. And of course eating Hemp meal, Hemp Protein or Hemp Oil is 100% legal and contains NO acidic THC, as found in fermented Hemp or marijuana leaves.
5) Almond or Brazil Nuts. It takes a real man with tools to crack open these babies, but the effort is worth it. They are loaded with selenium and magnesium, which are heavy-duty antioxidants that protect prostate health and helps to prevent a cancerous condition and/or heart dis-ease. Selenium also helps keep the aging process at bay, supports the white blood cells to maintain alkalinity, and helps lower acidity which in turn lowers cholesterol. Two nuts a day should keep selenium levels high.

6) Alkaline grains such as Quinoa, Buckwheat and Millet. White bread is for sissies--eat flavorful whole sprouted grains that are rich in fiber. Several commercial sprouted grains provide as much as six grams of fiber in two slices, which is a good start toward the 30 grams a day recommended for men by the Harvard School of Health. The fiber and bran in whole sprouted grains help lower blood acidity and thus cholesterol, move acidic waste through the alimentary canal, and make it more difficult for the body to convert acidic starches to the acid, glucose.
7) Low Sugar Fruits like Black Berries. These are what our hunter-gatherer ancestors grabbed up and ate along the trail while they tracked down the wooly mammoth-our ancestors knew instinctively (well, maybe they did) that berries sharpened their wits and thereby upped their chances of a successful hunt. Berries of all kinds-the darker and more colorful the better-contain a health-protecting flavonoid called anthocyanin, which may help slow down aging and keep the brain from declining.

8) Fresh Green Juices. Drinking your green vegetables, green fruit and green grasses are full of chlorophyll and will help to build hemoglobin, the main component of blood. As you build healthy blood you can then build healthy body cells, including bone, muscle and skin keeping your body young, healthy and strong.
