The only point on which I agree with you is that the typical anti-candida diet will fail in many cases because overloading yourself with fats and animal proteins is not gonna fix a compromised digestive system that most have in a case of candida overgrowth. It might keep the fungus temporarily at bay though, but it is not gonna restore healthy digestive juices and promote good flora growth. And the already suffering liver and kidneys will get weaker and weaker. That is why even after many monthes on the diet, many suffer symptoms after eating "offending" foods.
Candida overgrowth is much more common than you think, and its symptoms can be as many as fatigue, depression, anxiety, skin issues, hair loss to digestive issues of course (and many others).
I believe (and many many others, even most of the famous healers that cured thousands of "incurable" diseases) that almost every individual suffering one of today's common diseases has a degree of gut flora imbalance, because healthy flora means healthy digestive system, immune system and clean blood.
The tricky part is of course that no reliable test exists to diagnose gut flora imbalance, especially candida overgrowth. The pathogenic form of candida grows roots in your intestinal tissue and doesn't show up in stools unless it's dead.
Regarding calorie restriction, I can personally say that it only aggravated things for me to increase calories. I was wasting away, losing tons of weight, and suffering obvious symptoms of candida overgrowth (and parasites, which you think nobody has). I tried to pack on weight with the healthiest foods on earth, and it was getting worse and worse. It is only when I started a vegetable juice fast that the weight immediatly stabilized, even though I was probably ingesting half the calories. Why is that? Because a very sick person doesn't digest foods well, including fruits and vegetables, and that undigested food is directly a source of fuel for pathogens. Less food means also more energy for the body to heal itself, and that is why so many have healed the worst diseases on a juice fast.
I don't count the calories anymore. All I know is now that I'm hundreds times better, I need far less calories to maintain weigh than I used to back when I was sick with candida.
Dr Graham claims are full of ****, but I can see why his diet would work in some cases for people with candida. High fat high carb diets are probably a disaster because of the effect on blood
Sugar levels (candida IN THE INTESTINES - not in the blood as he claims - can overgrow easily when blood
Sugar is high and lack of friendly flora is present).
Sugar definitly serves as a fuel for pathogens like candida, but fruits are also full of beneficial enzymes, fiber, vitamins, minerals and should allow the digestive system to heal itself overtime because they're easy and quick to digest.
If fat intake is the problem, everybody would heal themselves with low fat high carb diets, with plenty of processed grains, meats, bread, candies... And you know that this is not the case.
