Hi, so I'm having a rough time and don't know what to do next, so I wanted to see if I could get any decent input from people on here. I've suffered with a full blown candida infestation for over a year now, but a few months ago, the protocol ( http://www.thecandidadiet.com/forum/yaf_postst1334_From-Able-and-Raster-The-Protocol.aspx ) I was using stopped working because I developed adrenal fatigue and hypothyroidism. When I first got my hypothyroidism diagnosis I was excited because I thought It would be a quick fix and I'd be back to beating my candida problem. But things went bad. As soon as I was put on levothyroxine I got symptoms of hyperthyroidism and couldn't tolerate the hormone replacement. I would get manic, angry, heart palpitations, dry skin, loss of hair, rapid nonsensical thoughts and feel frayed mentally and physically. I cut the dosage in half (down to 25mcg) and started seeing a naturopath. She got me on glutathione, milk thistle, vitamin c, stress b complex, iron, and st john's wort. The adrenal problems seemed to be the worst (I was becoming dissociated, paniced and scared by every little thing, extremely fatigued, seriously depressed, angry at the tiniest inconveniences, and having disorganized thoughts.) soo my ND put me on ashwagandha. My reaction to that was a heightened prevailance of all these symptoms to the point where I thought I was going to lose my mind. After that, I again stopped tolerating my thyroid meds and dropped down to 12.5 mcg. Around that time I saw my ND again and she wanted to try out ginseng for adrenal support. I guess what she's been trying to do is support the adrenals while I'm on the thyroid meds to get them to a point where I can tolerate thyroid hormone, but it hasn't worked. With the ginseng, I had one somewhat good day on it, but the rest of the time it just made my mind race, depleted me of energy, and made my adrenal symptoms worse. Once I hit a breaking point on the ginseng, I stopped both that and the levothyroxine totally. I saw my ND again a week ago and she put me on amino acids (L-Tysorine, Zen, and 5-HTP), her reason being that my endocrine problems have caused neurologic problems that need to be addressed before I can support my adrenals. I tried them all, and they all fed my candida infestation, and gave me a headache or kept me up at night. I don't know where to go from here. I'm stuck in a bad living situation which is very stressful, and my job is pretty bad too since I'm in retail and it's the holidays. I tried for disability with depression and anxiety as the reason twice and was denied. My candida is at a standstill, I always have a rash and some brain fog, but the mental aspects of my endocrine problems are the worst thing right now. I can barely get out of the house without feeling overwhelmed, paranoid, angry/frustrated, anxious, or unhinged mentally. My last shift at work I couldn't keep the negative thoughts away and it led to physical exhaustion and I had to go home early. If anyone has any reccommendations for me, please let me know. I don't know what to do, and trying to find an answer is becoming exhausting as the rest of my life is.

So sorry to hear of your troubles. you can absolutely get through this, you just need the right support. I'm fairly new here, but like so many on these boards I have been doing Nutritional Balancing for about one year. A hair mineral analysis by Analytical Research Labs would be a very good place to start. It will give you a very accurate picture of your minerals on a cellular level. These correspond to your adrenal, thyroid, digestion and overall well being. As well as let you know if you have any toxic metals.
It sounds like you may need some very gentle support with your adrenals, where the supplements you have been taking are designed to rev up your adrenals and give you more energy.
After your analysis they will give you a very basic diet plan as well as some supplements to take that will no doubt help your thyroid and your adrenals.

Thanks for the reply. Since I've been seeing so much posted about it I'm actually considering nutritional balancing. The only thing I'm not sure about is if it will work for me because my diet is so restrictive. My candida infestation is so sensitive that I eat the same few things every day and it puts me right around 100% DV on everything thank god. I have the same 6 veggies every day (about 5LBs worth), 4 eggs, buckwheat, coconut/teff bread, olive oil and occasional salmon. I'm very weary of changing it up much because I get flare ups to the tiniest thing (I can't have avacados and other fresh foods anymore because they have to be perfectly ripe, therefore I mostly eat frozen veggies). What problems did you have before you got into NB? Anything like what I'm going through? And how long did it take to make a difference? Are there ways to approach the program with food problems like mine?

This is a reply to # 2,010,027It sounds like your current diet might not be too far off from what you would be recommended with NB. A lot of veggies are a must plus protein and no refined foods so I wouldn't worry too much about being able to handle the diet.
Before I started with NB I was extremely fatigued. Some days I could only shower and get dressed and then I was useless for the rest of the day. I had nausea, diarrhea, weight loss, depression, anxiety. That was at my worst.
I have been tested many many times at the doctor's office for thyroid issues and the tests always came back negative. But I've always suffered with being cold and a lack of energy. My hair analysis showed that I was hypothyroid on a cellular level and confirmed that all these symptoms I've been having for years aren't in my head.
I still have fatigue and anxiety, those are the most prominent symptoms along with occasional insomnia. It's been about a year and I feel 30-40% better.

This is a reply to # 2,010,027Eggs coconut oil and salmon are destroying your health so all carbs rot in your system. Ive told you this once already. Youre the same as my friends coworkers with the pizza, My past diet high in nuts and meat to cut the carbs for candida...and the girl that studied in argentina and ate a bunch of steak. It is not that complicated. For anyone loading up on the fat like that. Head out for bigmacs and large fries because you are doing the same damage as the supersize me challenge. Fat doesnt mean fatty liver, but the excess does. PROOF is in your posts. Why the harshness anthony? Sick post after sick post and still not listening to the hard truth that you're doing nothing to combat the belly fat.
So how long til u improve? For the time in your life spent loading up on the eggs and salmon, do the opposite and do cardio to undo the flab deposits. Months. -

This is a reply to # 2,010,027I don't know how to handle Candidiasis, but I'm familiar with "Adrenal Fatigue". Your diet sounds good for AF.
Your naturopath sounds like they gave good recommendations for AF, too:
She got me on glutathione, milk thistle, vitamin c, stress b complex, iron, and st john's wort.
Note that St. John's Wort works in part by being a serotonin re-uptake inhibitor. This means that if you're increasing your serotonin through any means, like using 5-HTP, you could easily overdo it and end up with serotonin syndrome. This is very bad for people with AF.
Also, your bad living situation is most likely not helping. You really do have to reduce the stress in your life, otherwise it's an uphill battle at best.
I've found that lysine helps me with anxiety. You might try adding that.
For improved digestion, I recommend digestive enzymes. I took Source Naturals Daily Essential Enzymes for a long time to good effect. My digestion just works these days, though.
For supporting the adrenals, I've been having good luck with licorice, but I've had to be careful about the dosage. I'm taking 900mg licorice root every other night with dinner and it still sometimes gives me mild headaches (the following morning). Licorice may help ease the stress on the adrenal glands during cortisol shunt (picture from Dr. Lam's website), enabling other important hormones to get produced instead of forsaken. - Series of Clark Liver Flushes fectoid2

This is a reply to # 2,010,027You can try all of the diets and supplements that you want. I did that for 20 years. The way I finally reversed the effects that the canditoxins had on my liver was to perform a series of Clark Liver Flushes. I experienced immediate changes after the first flush and marked improvement after each consecutive flush. Proper bile flow through the intestines naturally destroys bad bacteria, and supports good bacteria. Bile is also the waste product produced by your liver. So if bile is not flowing, your liver is not filtering your blood and candida will populate your intestines leading to leaky gut, which means undigested foods in the bloodstream which further overloads the liver and the vicious cycle is established. I broke the cycle by Liver Flushing which gave me the energy to exercise and provided the mechanism to destroy candida and to restore proper digestion, which starts a positive cycle of healing.

I am intrigued by all the info related to the liver and to all the information regarding "zapping" of parasites etc. My question for you is did you by chance try the Zapper as well? This is a reply to # 2,009,978Boy thats a lot of info. Maybe its just me, but in the future maybe try to break up the posts into paragraphs so they are a bit easier to get through. Also, sometimes we all need to vent which is totally what this forum is for, but clear questions often help elicit clear responses too.
I guess I would say I am not surprised that any of the things you listed above didn't work. You can't get rid of AF if you have candida, you can't get rid of candida with AF because of a weakened immune system, heavy metals feed into both, malabsorption leading to malnutrition feeds into both etc etc you get the idea.
The body is a system, and too often we try to treat it as isolated components. Nutritional balancing is a good systems based approached. I recommend you use this as a platform to raise your general health. From there you can zero in on specific programs to add to your NB approach. Like for me after I did NB for a few months, I began taking a little raw garlic and coconut oil to specifically attack the candida while re-balancing the body. The amino acids and ginsing are probably overall a good idea, but again trying to isolate just doesn't work in my opinion.
In the short run, I like GABA to help with the negative thoughts and anxiety.

I am very new to the recovery side of this and there are some people with years and years of experience strength and hope. It looks like you have tried alot and our bodies and minds are so sensitive. I have incorporated meditation into my day as a make or break, not just self help but survival with adrenal fatigue as it gives me a rest from my thinking and a place to go to give my adrenals a rest. Because I am in fight or flight alot the fear thoughts are on repeat. Any opportunity however brief I have of witnessing them instead of believing them is such a relief for me.It is just one slice of the pie but I hope it helps. This is a reply to # 2,009,978I agree with the above comments from Seattle and Onedaysoon. I don't think it is possible to just take a certain supplement or drug and be healed. It is important to eliminate the stressors and increase nutrients. Once the body has everything it needs it will heal itself.
I would recommend that you research Dr. James Wilson(Read his book), Dr. Larry Wilson and Dr. Lam. These 3 seem to agree that AF is caused by
1) Emotional stress- Past and present
2) Physical stress such as surgery, poor diet, addiction(smoking, alcohol and drug abuse), injury, exhaustion, food allergies and Amalgam fillings.
3) Chronic infections - parasites, lyme, candida, hiv, hepatitis etc, etc
4)Environmental - Toxic chemicals and pollutants in the air, water, clothing, household off gassing etc.
The above cause toxic overload and nutritional deficiencies. So the tricky part is to find and eliminate all of the possible contributers and find a solution.
I myself have
1)changed my diet to a paleo whole foods diet that is sugar, grain, additive free diet.
2)eliminated food allergies
3)had all mercury fillings removed
4)counselling for childhood issues
5)stopped using toxic chemicals in the home,including toxic beauty products
6)intensive parasite and bowel cleansing- Ozone treatments for lyme disease.
7)have been on a Nutrtional Balancing program with hair analysis with http://www.arltma.com
for almost 1 year. I was in the exhaustion stage 3 when I started and extremely low in all minerals except 2. My sodium was 2 and potassium 1. Today my sodium is 13 and the potassium is 3. Much better than it was.
After all of this I am about 95% healed. I am now focusing on a few herbs to boost my immune system and am still working on chronic infections. I have completely healed the adrenals, thyroid and am able to excercise each day for 1.5 - 2 hours per day for the past 4 weeks. My mind is clear and I feel positive and joyful.
This is just my own personal experience. Healing naturally requires alot of patience and perseverance but it is worth it.

This is a reply to # 2,010,272FYI anthony87 posts are very polarizing over in the Candida Forum . That doesn't make the information wrong, but do a little research before adopting that diet plan, it is specifically well suited for fatty liver disease. The diet is high carb, no fat, low protein. Basically the opposite of what NB recommends. Each of us will have to decide what plan works best for ourselves.

This is a reply to # 2,010,764I've found that the Clarke Liver Flush is effective at restoring bile flow, which is critical to reversing fatty liver. Bile is also a natural anti-bacterial, but does kill good bacteria.
Toxins, such as those produced by candida can lead to fatty liver, just as alcohol can. In both cases, bile flow is slowed or stopped, which leads to more toxins, etc. Bile is the waste product produced by the liver from the filtering of toxins out of the blood. If bile isn't flowing, the liver is not filtering, which is why candida sufferers are often so sick.

I'm just wondering, how would you find out wether you have a fatty liver or your liver is hampered by toxins, and also where would a good place to start be? I will probably be starting a NB program next month and for now I am only on milk thistle, iron, vitamin c, stress b-complex, glutithione, usually a tbsp of coconut oil and st. johns wort. I want to try some new things, but don't want to move too fast.
