I am absolutely convinced the best weapon you used was your discipline with the diet. When someone have the courage and discipline to keep the diet, it gives result. Speaking about my own story, I can tell you I have been 2 times in the position you are now. I have found the way to reduce my intestinal candidiasis to the point of no having any symptom. Later, I have returned to a "normal" life. I am sorry if this doesn't sound good to you but is what I am looking for. I was a time eating ice cream, beers, bread, pizza, etc. Then, candida was back. One of the times I really thought I was cured. Big mistake !
When I began my research, I did the same a newbie does, the saliva test, caprylic acid, oregano oil, gse, etc. Probiotics were on my list. Yes, a lot of them including, Total Immune Booster, Dr. Oshira, Threelac, VSL3, L.Reuteri, LGG, Florastor, and many others. Hundreds of dollars buying probiotics. What I want to tell you I didn't escape from reading every website about candida and forums to find the way to recover my health.
There is no doubt some bacterias inhibit the fungus growth, and massive amounts of some, may cause die-off. Diflucan and all the azoles which are fungistatic also cause die-off, and they don't kill but only inhibit. To say pharmaceutical probiotics kill candida is an ambitious statament. As I said, I have taken tons of them including many liters of Kefir and yogurt.
There is also something very important to signal, candida albicans lives in the intestines of healthy people even when beneficial bacterial colonies are present. If the friendly flora kills candida, it couldn't live there. I am absolutely convinced the flora inhibits candida growth and avoids its metamorphism to a pathogenic form, but kill is another business.
I believe candida returned in my case because my native antagonistic friendly flora never returned or I have a severe compromised immune function affected by heavy metals or any other hidden cause. Who knows ??
Yes, there are people that have won this battle with a single protocol using an smart diet and some antifungals, other cases, no. It is individual and unique for every one.
I am chelating and trying to implant flora from my daughter in my colon to see if the antagonistic flora recover. I am doing it preparing the terrain to see if next time I be totally symptoms free, candida don't come back. I am almost symptoms free now because I have stuck with the diet a thing that has been almost impossible for me.
Anyway, saying that current pharmaceutical probiotics colonize the gut permanently when are properly feed, is lack of knowledge about this this subject. I would like it be in this way, but unfortunately, is not. I still recognize the role of probiotics in an anticandida protocol because they provide temporary benefits and some of them are antifungal. But, it is another thing to recover the flora. This is the reason because I push
Fecal Transplant even when some people are alarmed with the gross part. I hope you understand me when I reacted about the friendly flora killing yeast. Don't use the word kill because they don't they inhibit the growth.
