I've become a lot more convinced of being Hg toxic. The suspicion has been around since my first post here. But finally looking back, I took the swine flu vaccine on Dec 22, 2009, a seasonal one in winter 2008, and another in 2005. Have a few fillings but no amalgams or root canals.
I've passively read through symptoms of Hg toxicity and somehow believed that a metallic taste was the predominant sign, which I didn't have. But then I loaded the Wiki entry on mercury poisoning and meet *all* the symptoms of it:
itching, burning, skin discoloration, swelling, shedding of skin, profuse sweating, tachycardia (first week of detox), salivation, loss of hair, rashes, muscle weakness, increased light sensitivity, and neuropsychiatric symptoms (emotional lability, memory impairment, insomnia)
I'm going to buy some ALA post-haste, as recommended by ZlatinValchev four threads up. But having read some of Newport's posts about Hg, I'm terrified. Am I permanently destroyed if it is mercury? It seems that the Hg should have passed the blood-brain barrier after being dislodged by the iodine. I don't think any of my current supplements chelate it either. It's Day 115 since first touching iodine and Day 75 of the detox wave.
Appreciate any input while I cry.

Newport, thanks so much. I wasn't able to find an online merchant that sells the AOR product directly in the States. But the Solaray brand seems to offer a similar one, and the manufacturer claims to be in GMP accordance.
Also, the dentist got back to me and all three fillings used silver alloy with mercury. Ugh.
No, it's not really similar. Yours has a ratio 50:2, while the AOR ratio is 15:2. I've personally had problems with some of the additional ingredients in Solaray products. I found one Canadian company that does ship to the U.S., but for free shipping you have to buy a lot. Otherwise, s/h is $9.95. Zinc citrate or zinc monomethionate (OptiZinc) is easy to find in 15 mg or 30 mg. Amino acid chelates for copper are hard to find for us. I use TwinLab copper gluconate 2 mg as a default. If you took 30 mg zinc, you'd want 4 mg copper.
This is one AOR source.

So sorry to hear about your 3 fillings, but at least you know now. Congratulations on the fabulous progress you've already made!
Thanks Just Thinking. Oh! The zinc and copper don't have to be within the same product. So I can go back to taking zinc picolinate (Swanson) and copper (Swanson)? I think the former fits the bill as picolinic acid is a "catabolite of amino acid tryptophan." The latter is in the form of copper chelate, but chelated to an amino acid? Doesn't look like it. The skin seems to have worsened since I stopped them. :(
I've also been taking Zn and Cu in the wrong ratio, 44:2. But picolinate is supposed to be most bioavailable. How critical is 15:2? Would something like 22:3 be alright or better not risk it?
Since you stopped the zinc/copper and your skin has worsened, that tells the tale. I don't see why you couldn't start closing up the ratio gap, see at what point you're still getting better, and at what point you start getting worse. Hubby does well on 15:2, but I do better 30:2. And so it goes.
At one point I found half-life data for copper, which said half of today's dose is still hanging around after 35 days. That means it slowly builds up in your body and, say, 3 months from when you think the dose is perfect, it may appear to change with skin worsening. (Note whatever skin change you saw this time so you'll recognize it if it happens again. Too little or too much of a supplement can frequently cause the exact same symptom, in my experience.) Getting this ratio right for you will take awhile. It can be useful to have the supplements separate so tweaks can be made.
