Hi All,
I have never posted on this board before and thought I would come to get some advice.
I have been really sick since June 2010 and the doctors are having a lot of trouble finding out what is wrong with me.
Prior to me getting sick I didn't really have many problems but I probably wasn't living the healthiest lifestyle ever. I was drinking 3-4 cups of coffee a day and barely any water. I was not eating nearly enough. I worked almost 10 hour days and would work out for 1-2 hours as soon as I got home. My beverages during the day consisted of coffee (with a lot of sugar) and wine - along with a very small amount of food.
I went out one night with my husband and our best friends and we ate a ton of sushi and had a few bottles of wine. I woke up the next morning with a hangover headache and popped 2 excedrine migraines and proceeded to have 2 large cups of coffee. My body started to shake, I was dizzy and had heart palpitations. I tried to eat and drink some juice and I kept throwing up and could not stop shaking. I wound up in the ER and they sent me home after all of the basic stuff turned out ok. For the next 3 weeks I ended up going back to the ER 5 more times and went to see close to 20 different specialists.
I am still experiencing a lot of these symptoms off and on along with many others. Lately the thing that has been bothering me the most is hypoglyemic like feelings. I live in NYC and take the subway to work every morning and I have had near fainting symptoms over and over and had to take a can home. My vision is always blurry and I have trouble focusing.
I am currently seeing a good doctor but I feel like there is something that is being overlooked. I seriously feel some days like I am going to die. He believes I have candida and I am currently on a yeast free diet. I know I have pretty much no good bacteria in my gut and an overgrowth of bad bacteria. I have been on the diet for almost 3 months and I still do not feel better. Now we are also suspecting mold in our apartment and looking for a new place to live. We live in a loft type apartment and our bedroom is in the basement. We had a small leak about a month before this all started.
I had my cortisol tested a few months ago but it was only an 8am blood test and I have heard those are pretty unreliable. Would the saliva test be the most recommended?
And if I do end up having adrenal fatigue do you think this is the culprit or would it be the mold or the candida? I am so confused as to what started all this and I feel like that is going to stop me from getting better.
Also - I keep reading that people with adrenal fatigue have trouble losing weight?(I might have this mixed up). I have trouble keeping weight on. I have lost about 25
pounds since June and literally feel like a bag of bones.
It's to the point where I am scared for my life and just need some suggestions on what tests I should ask my doctor to run. I feel my worst in the morning and have a lot of trouble making it into work somedays. Around 6 or 7pm I get almost like a panic attack type of feeling and my heart starts palpitating and I get really dizzy. I also have a lot of pain in my lower abdomen near my belly button and in my back near my kidneys.
I am leaving on Friday to go visit my mom in Virginia for a week. I just want to get away from my apartment and my environment and see if I have an improvement in my symptoms at all. I am sure the first step in all of this would be moving and then tackling the candida and maybe my adrenal issues will fall into place.
I'm sure I'm forgetting so much. I am just scared. I am only 28 and recently married and I have no life. I just struggle to get through everyday.
If anybody has any advice for me at all I would really appreciate it.
Thank you & God bless.
Keri
