Thanks for the reminder about the bp test at different times of the day. I need to check that out. :)
Goiter is considered to be caused by iodine deficiency in the thyroid. You're most likely to develop a goiter from not having enough iodine available. Iosol is 1.83 mg per drop. At only 1-2 drops per day, you're in very-low-dose territory. I remember many years ago starting with Iosol before I knew about any of the extensive research now available. I was scared that I might be doing irreparable damage to my body. What if I was poisoning myself, trying to be healthy? Sure enough, I developed blinding headaches that were only cured when I stopped taking the 4 drops of Iosol. It's so sad to know now that what I felt was massive bromine detox, that I was actually expelling toxins, not increasing my load. I lost so much time in which I could have been healing.
The feelings in your throat area might be your thyroid "grasping" what it's desperate for. When iodine starts being provided, your body decides how to use it, and that can produce sensations that are new to us. It's your body waking up and speaking, and saying, "Thank you."
A dowager's hump, aka kyphosis, is associated with osteoporosis. There's an actual curving outward of the upper spine, not just a bony protrusion. Such a concern might need to be evaluated by at least a body worker, who can actually see you. Otherwise, I'm afraid we're way off the iodine topic.
In your first post you asked for a wide outlook so I thought I'd give my 2 cents...
I'm actually not a believer in Iodine yet. After reading a lot, I've decided to slowly build my resistance to Lugols (now up to 6 drops per week... i take 3 drops, 2 days in a row, then rest for the week)
I have headaches, bromide zits and a swollen throat feeling when taking iodine. I'm taking it because I want to get rid of the fluoride, because I think it has caused my mild hypothyroidism... so I'm willing to experiment on myself.
The only thing that helps my symptoms is "salt-loading". I recommend 'Redmond's Real Salt', which I picked up from Whole Foods. As a bonus... it's the best-tasting salt I've ever had. I couldn't imagine taking a tablespoon of salt in water before... and I thought it might be dangerous since I used to have high blood-pressure.
The thing is - this Redmond's Real Salt is some f-ing magical ancient dinosaur sea-salt. You know dinosaurs couldn't even exist because the energy needed to pump their blood... yet they DID exist. I'm convinced it's because they used Redmond's Real Salt. I don't get higher blood-pressure while taking it. It's some unbelievable salt.
So if you do choose to stick with taking iodine, my biggest recommendation is some good salt for "salt-loading".
