Mine started at about the age you are at and can easily be related to depression, as mine were. I never went to a doctor for mine but found that many times aspirin would make them go away. I took lots of aspirin - 3 at a time, and every hour or so. I soon learned the symptoms of when they were coming on and could stop them with aspirin alone. Eventually - about age 25 they came with flashing lights.
The teen years can be a very difficult time in life. Your body including your brain is constantly changing and your hormones are running on nitro while your parents, church (if you belong to one), and society in general are screaming at you to be celibate, at which time you're trying to figure out the opposite sex. The teen years really can be difficult and give yourself credit for getting to age 18. At 18 you are old enough and smart enough to fight on the front lines for our country and kill people yet often times parents and relatives still treat you like an infant.
My headaches were related to childhood abuse, physical, mental, and sexual. As you are growing up you have to rationalize that you are not being abused because you view your parents as "normal" maybe even perfect, even though they may yell at you, call you names, or even hit you. If you feel you don't live up to their idealistic expectations - that is abuse as well. So many of us create a lot of pain in childhood and don't acknowledge it because we feel that somehow it would be admitting that we are "weak" and we try to appear strong.
Do you ever have thoughts of suicide? I did. I eventually got through my depression and headaches with meditation, after a lot of searching and wandering.
I agree that what have been prescribed are probably not going to help your condition. I suggest that you see if you can find some counseling and begin to work on that depression (without drugs) and if you delve into that, you will find what's behind your migraines.
Thanks.
I'm now and old fart - 78, they didn't have anti depressants and real counseling when I was growing up so after starting a family of my own I eventually started searching, did some counseling but found it a drag, eventually found meditation and spiritual healing. During that process I found many things that heal - before it was ever popular. I got through my depression though the migraines continued on but in a lesser degree until I hit some PTSD from early childhood about fifteen years ago. Did some counseling then, got through the PTSD with my meditation, and am feeling better now than I ever have in my life.
At your age I'm not going to suggest a particular direction, but there are a load of self-help books out there that you might read. Louise L. Haye and Debbie Ford are good. Just keep in mind that - you are important. It doesn't matter what others think of you, what you think of yourself is what matters. Learn to love yourself and your depression will melt away.
Best to you.
Headaches and migranes can be the result of stress, even stress that you cannot pinpoint. Headaches and migranes can also be the result of improper nutrition. Or they can be the result both. They could also be due to sinus inflammation, there are many different causes. Panic attacks come in many different forms. If the headache is a result of accumulated stress and anxiety, it could result in a panic attack. First thing I would do, not only for the headaches, but also for the depression and anxiety is alter my diet. No sugar, processed food, junk food, fast food, etc., and also eliminate or reduce your consumption of caffeine.
Antidepressants are really not the answer. Some people feel better taking them only because antidepressants enable them to function by subduing their emotions. They also come with side effects, some of them which are serious. Even those that are controlled by antidepressants cannot escape some of the side effects.
Besides focusing on diet, the following supplements should help to relieve your depression and anxiety. The supplements are listed in the article below:

However, if you have decided to take the antidepressants, check with your medical provider to see if Kava would in any way interfere with it.
Nothing may be new in your life, yet what is the source of the depression that you have suffered with for years? The new found anxiety and panic could be a buildup of unresolved conflicts that could possibly be buried in your subconscious. Not knowing you and your history, I really don't know. Or it could have purely physical causes. In any event, getting to the source of the problem is important, whether it be emotional or physical.
My Best,
Luella
