As Jason (Vx) mentioned earlier, this was wone of the best things he did in his battle against candida, etc. I would say the same. A no brainer as Americans say (I love this expression).

In 2000, I fought candida for a year and it evaporated about a week after Amalgam removal.

I couldn't figure out why candida wouldn't leave as I was doing everything - immune boosters, antifungals, probiotics, Chinese herbs, garlic, strict diet.

An homeopath told me that candida serves as a buffer to protect the intestinal walls from the damages caused by mercury. Most integrative doctors here seem to think that mercury (and heavy metal poisoning) are directly related to candida overgrowth (and even parasites).

In 2000, I researched the effects of mercury poisoning - it is the second most toxic substance to the human body (the first being plutonium). There is no minimal safe dose, meaning the smallest mercury particule in your system will create havoc. If you research the facts about mercury, you wouldnt hesitate one second. Actually, even old Amalgams still leach out (spelling? word?) mercury in your system - so you are not safe. The quantity of mercury contained in one filling would be enough to declare a lake unfit for fishing were it put into a lake.

In any case, the day after removing my Amalgams (I had six or seven), I felt more energy. And after that, candida resolved on its own.

So I would say just go for it. I don't even understand why people who are so plagued with health problems would keep Amalgams in the mouth. It should be the first thing to go!

If you are worried about any worsening of your symptoms, you could try a heavy metal detox after your Amalgam removal.

But am of the opinion that you will be really glad and relieved to have had them removed.

I did Andrew Cutler's checklist for mercury poisoning (pages 56-61 of his book) and scored 2/25. According to Andrew Cutler, this means it is greater than 99.9% certain I DO NOT have mercury poisoning.

There is this theory that chronic fatigue syndrome is largely caused by candida and certain bacteria turning inorganic mercury to methyl mercury, which poisons the brain. I wonder if there is any proof of this? This link promotes this scary theory.

So I don't think I have classic mercury poisoning, but that doesn't exclude the possibility that my brain is being affected by candida processed methyl mercury. It also doesn't exclude mercury being a factor in depressing my immune system.

It is all so confusing. I am now not so sure removing my fillings is the way to go.

I had lots of mercury fillings and had them all removed a few years ago. No noticable improvement to my health but great teeth ever since. I used to have quite sensitive fillings to cold etc and that disappeared. If you have the money - go for it but don't expect a miracle candida wise. But my teeth are very good now. Even my dentist remarks on it. He didn't push me to have them done - it was my idea. He told me one of his patients had excema and when she had mercury fillings removed on one side excema went on that side of her face so she came back to have the rest done.

I didn't do any particular protocol but I did take activated charcoal before and after. Great stuff. Oh and I used a regular dentist but I have been using him for years and was confident in him.

(I remember that my teeth were very sensitive post removal and it took about 10 days to settle down. Then the discomfort went completely. Don't be alarmed by that.)

The only test I can think of for mercury poisoning is to go on a low mercury/aluminum diet for a month,no fish,no seafood,no mercury, no supplements made from the sea,calcium,magnesium,kelp,etc
No aluminum,pots,baking soda with it,processed foods with it.

This gives you a baseline

Then eat a can of tunafish everyday for a week and see if you feel worse.

There is a curezone survey on mercury poisoning and about 50 percent reported some improvement with perhaps 10 to 20 reported significant improvement.

Removing my 18 Amalgams of 45 years, cured most of the above symptoms.

I've recently removed my mercury fillings (Sep 2009) and it has helped a great deal. I had 10 fillings in total.
- No depression
- Lungs are finally starting to heal
- More energy
- You have to remove all metal from your mouth before you can do chelation. I'm full of mercury and uranium (of all things) so this is my next step.


There is a right and a wrong way to do Amalgam removal. Most dentists only know the way to make your health worse. I would look for a dentist trained in IAOMT procedures and force him to also find biocompatible fillings for you. As well, make him use sequential removal (ala Hal Huggins) and you'll be doing much better in 1-9 months after the removal.

Several people had Candida go away after having their fillings removed (properly!). Myself, I also solved Candida before this, but I believe with Amalgam removal, chelation (Cutler protocol), nutrition, parasite cleansing, and liver flushing, most people's problems would be resolved.
