(Took place 12-14-2009, 08:00 AM)
It is now 8am, 30 minutes after a SLIT treatment, and I am experiencing slight SOB, and continued dizziness, just like I did Friday. Friday went OK, except at night when the asthma got worse. I can probably expect the same difficulties tonight!
I am just sick and tired of having to deal with constant Asthma problems, and the constant threat hanging over my head that, if I do anything wrong, I will suffer from "labored" breathing and malaise. SLIT is a proven science, even though all of the details have not been worked out yet.
I've had it. It's either going to be me or the Asthma, not both! One of us has to leave, so to speak. (of course...... who am I kidding!? )
Hmmmm!? I'm now getting slight chest pains. That's kinda normal too.
Getting too dizzy and light headed and confused to type........
Wish me luck!
(Date of experiment: 12-14-2009, 09:39 am)
OK. Now I'm getting a little more reckless!
I figure that I am already going to be up all night long with "labored" breathing, or worse, and I will be sooooooo very sick tomorrow, so I am following the Rush Protocol, or Rapid Desensitization, which involves multiple treatments, innoculations, SLITs, whatever, during a few hours in ONE day.
So, @ 9:30am, I went outside, pulled another blade of grass.... this one with a lot of dew/moisture on it, and, using a QTip, placed the pollens/pollutants/triggers under my tongue.
Hmmmm!? Unexpected reaction....... NOTHING!? Not any dizzier? No increase in chest pains, or sob, yet. Still dizzy, slight chest pains and slight sob, but no increase in symptoms? Why? Why not?
Imagine if this works, and people with debilitating allergies could cure themselves at home (under the care of a health professional, of course)! What a tremendous reduction in medical cost, time and aggravation!
Well..... wish me luck.
Hmmmmm!? Heart starting to jump a little more. Getting a little dizzier. Slight increase in Chest Pains. Starting to sweat. Didn't sweat after first treatment!? Didn't wait long enough to wait for a reaction before I decided to pounce on Healthboards, and post! Oh well......

SLIT Rapid Desensitization Treatment (RUSH) #3 @ 10am.
The RUSH protocol calls for several immunizations in a 3-4 hour window. So far.... so good. No significant increase in symptoms during these multiple exposures to grass pollens!
I can't believe that the reactions and symptoms are not compounding, or getting worse!
I intend to do it again at 10:30am, 11am, 11:30am and 12 noon. So that I don't over-do the posting , I will refrain from any other posts unless I get a response, or unless I get into trouble. I know that tonight is going to be bad, but I figure that I will be up all night with a tight chest, so I'll just have to get through it. If I can't sleep that means that I might be gagging and posting, and looking for sympathy here on Healthboards in the middle of the night!
To all those who suffer the daily miseries of asthma, sinusitis and our non-caring, expensive and broken health care system, wish me luck and I wish you luck!
(Date of experiment: 12-14-2009, 12:00 PM)
Did another SLIT treatment @ 10:45am and one @ 12 noon.
When I did my first one, at 7:30am, I experienced an immediate dizziness, light-headedness, nausea, heart jumping around in my chest, "labored" breathing and slight chest pains.
What's particularly interesting is that, the treatment @ 10:45am and 12 noon has caused absolutely no immediate reaction; and the one @ 10:45 never caused a reaction?! How come? I would think that, with each treatment, my breathing problems, and other symptoms, would get worse?
I am still a little groggy, but not feeling too bad, with slight "labored" breathing, slight chest tightness, slight pressure in chest, whatever one would want to call it.
I feel like Gary Cooper in High Noon waiting for Frank Miller to arrive on the noon day train, but in my case, the train is coming in tonight, and instead of Frank Miller, it's going to be Asthma! Oh how I dread the night coming. I hope that it is not a bad one. I am keeping my fingers crossed, but, being a realist, I am also keeping the coffee pot ready for a long nights breathing discomfort.
It will be worth it if this do-it-yourself SLIT experiment works and lets me live a more normal life outside of this stupid, extremely restrictive environment that I am trapped in.
Wish me luck!
SLIT Rapid Desensitization Treatment (RUSH) #3 @ 10am.
The RUSH protocol calls for several immunizations in a 3-4 hour window. So far.... so good. No significant increase in symptoms during these multiple exposures to grass pollens!
Well, I lived through the RUSH-SLIT protocol, using grass allergen, with few side effects or problems. In fact it went fairly good. The first treatment, under my tongue, resulted in the worst of the side effects, causing increased dizziness, labored breathing, some sweating, and increased heart palpitations. The second treatment had milder side effects, and the last few treatments resulted in NO side effects.
At this point, I have gained no noticeable benefits from the treatment. Only time and perseverance will tell.
One of my worst allergies is to Leather. I am now going to walk out into my Florida Room, to where I have my nice, big, soft-leather Swivel Rocker-Recliner and rub a QTip against the Leather and then insert it under my tongue. I purchases the recliner over three years ago and intended to age it for several years, until it outgassed enough for me to be able to use it. Well..... guess what!? I can sit in it for about 10 minutes before my breathing problems, and heart rate problems, and general malaise get bad enough for me to get off of it! Bummer, huh!
Depending upon the severity of any reaction that I might get, I intend to do several treatments, under my tongue, today and see what happens.
Wish me luck!
Took a QTip and rubbed it all over the Leather Recliner. Placed the QTip under my tongue. In a short time, I became a little dizzy, and started to feel a little nauseous. I can feel my heart jumping around slightly. No big deal, yet! See what happens next?!
10:45am--- took another QTip and rubbed it against large portion of recliner. QTip end blackened, which I guess comes from everyday dirt from the air and auto exhausts. Made for good test!
Reaction a little stronger this time, but not bad. Some mental confusion. Difficulty thinking. Lightheaded and some mild chest pains. Overall..... not bad!!
Try it again in 20 minutes or so!
Wish me luck!
11:15am my third QTip rubbed until black-dirty against Leather Recliner. Lightheaded. Slight Chest Pains. Woozy. Slight tightness in chest. All-in-all not too bad a reaction. I had a much worse reaction to rubbing the QTip against a blade of dew-moistened grass.
I have read that this type of Immunization is not as effective as the allergy shots, about 50% less effective, but can be done in the privacy of my home, without having to have insurance, without a doctor, without waiting long times in crowded waiting rooms to see a non-caring, non-concerned doctor, who is more interested in humping his nurse than in my allergies (though..... who could blame him? ).
So.... I might have to do these SLIT Protocol experiments for a long, long time. It will be worth it if it reduces my damn allergies just a little bit.
Wish me luck!
Sounds like you are in desperate need of a liver cleanse. All allergies are only a symptom of a congested liver.
I thought that you were going to say that I was in desperate need of a Head Examination!!!
Thanks for the suggestion. I am willing to try anything, as you can plainly see.
Of course you just may want to consider that all the toxic drugs you take contribute to the problem. Oh yes ,good luck !
What toxic drugs???
At any rate, thanks for offering me good luck! I needed some good Karma, and you brought it!
SLIT Treatment # 4 @ 11:45--- Suffering from continued lightheadedness, a little tightness in chest and some indigestion, which is a new symptom. From what I have read, one day's "multiple" RUSH SCIT Allergy Immunizations using the Allergy Shots can take the place of a year or two of weekly Allergy Shots, so it would follow that one day's "multiple" RUSH SLIT Allergy Immunizations using the QTip under the tongue could also be effective, although only about 50% as effective as the shots. If SLIT is 50% less effective than SCIT (shots), then I'll just do the SLIT Protocol more often!
Thanks for responding to my post. It was getting awful lonely on this thread!
What toxic drugs? Almost all pharmaceutical drugs are accumulative creating a toxic environment that must be dealt with by the body, the liver in particular!
I have battled against Heart Failure for over 22 years, and I have succeeded where most fail, because I have researched, analyzed and selected the most important effective medications. I am healthier than I was when I was in my 40's. You might consider my victory against Heart Failure a toxic success, but my wife and I am LOVING it!
These toxic drugs in fact only mask symptoms and often contribute to the problem!
Toxic drugs??? Masking the problem??? Coreg works so well because it not only limits an over-active, over-reactive NeuroHormonal and Immune System but because it can reverse Insulin Resistance. Coreg (Carvedilol) doesn't mask my stretched out, damaged heart, it fixes it, combined with a small meal, low calorie, high fiber, balanced healthy diet, avoiding Immune System Triggers, and significant physical exercise. It works. I'll stay with what has worked so well for me.
I think people are ignoring you because the are kind and don't want to offend you, I have been hesitant to address your issues for the same reason!
Feel free to offend me. Do you think that, after 22 years battling against Heart Failure that a differing opinion is going to be offensive to me. I am enjoying life again. I am feeling great! I have energy. My entire insides feel so damn healthy and so damn vibrant and so energetic and good that you, and nobody else can offend me. Not today, and not tomorrow and not never. I am doing too well and feeling too great, except, of course for my allergies, which are under control with Flovent and Flonase. Just look at my energy level today, with all of my posts and all of my experiments with SLIT!
My only remaining health problem is my allergies, for which I am working on a cure. If I didn't have to avoid so many allergy triggers, I would have almost no health problems at all, close to 70 years old.
Have you noticed the motto of Curezone perchance?
"Educating Instead of Medicating" is great advice. Medication is not always the answer to health problems. But..... there have been some wonderful, miraculous medical discoveries, such as Coreg (Carvedilol), and antibiotics and Flovent, which have relieved the suffering of many. We can't and should not be blind to Medical Science. Of course, healthy people don't require medication and should not medicate. To me, as I have stated often, the two best medications are Diet and Exercise. So, in a way, my motto also is "Educating Instead of Medicating"
OK, I've said my spiel. You probably disagree with me. Take your best shot, and do not worry about my feelings. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my thread!
Take care...... be well!
Well many might believe what you call a success is in actuality a complete failure to correct the situation in 22 years and are daily having to deal with the consequences.
Knowing that the majority of heart failure patients, in my age group, either die from this terrible disease, or spend a lot of time in the hospital; and that I have gotten much better, is the kind of consequence that my wife and I LOVE!
Can I deal with surviving the significant damage to my heart, which happened over 22 years ago? Hmmmm!? Let me think about that!
I assume you work under the assumption that the possibility of actually curing your problems are not possible and that a maintenance program of pharmaceuticals is your only choice.
I use what I have found works best for me. Once again, most people in my age group do not survive this type of damage to their heart, or are frequently hospitalized and do not live a good quality of life. I live a very good quality of life, with minimal effects from Coreg, Flovent and Digoxin, my three most important medications.
I love Coreg, Digoxin and Flovent because they do their job so well, and have few side effects. They allow me to, not only live a more normal life, but a higher quality of life, and they help me to survive my health problems.
However these are your choices, I will leave you be. And oh yes good luck once again.
Thanks, again, for the good luck wishes. I appreciate it! But, remember that the motto of Curezone is "Educating not Medicating". This does not mean "Foolishness not Medicating".
SLIT Treatment # 4 @ 11:45--- Suffering from continued lightheadedness, a little tightness in chest and some indigestion, which is a new symptom.
I did seven (7) SLIT treatments today, rubbing a QTip against my Leather Recliner and then putting the dirty QTip under my tongue. I was surprised at how mild the reaction was. I don't know exactly how to judge the results. I guess I will wait a week and then attempt to sit in the Recliner and see what happens.
I have read that a Phase III trial was just completed using Grass Pollen Extract under the tongue and it was not only extremely successful at reducing allergic sensitivities to Grass, but it was a long lasting "cure". So........ starting tomorrow, I will go back to doing Grass SLIT treatments. When I first attempted the Grass and Dew Pollen under my tongue, I suffered quite a significant reaction. I did seven (7) Grass treatments that day, and had absolutely NO reactions to the last four experiments.
And so...... tomorrow will be interesting to see what type of reactions I get to another encounter with the Grass SLIT treatment experiments. If all goes well, I will do several per day for all of 2010.
Here is a picture of the "evil" Leather Recliner.
(Date of experiment: 12-14-2009)
Did a total of six SLIT treatments (experiments) today. The last few treatments caused no increased symptoms. I don't know why, or what that means?
I just reread an article on SLIT where it states that the Medical Community, at this point, does not know how many treatments to do, or how much allegen to use, or how frequently to give the SLIT treatments, etc., etc., etc., but it has been determined definitely that SLIT immunotherapy is effective at lessening Allergy Sensitivity, and is safer to use than SCIT (shots). That is like music to my ears.
So far today, I am still experiencing some tightness in my chest and some slight "labored" breathing, slight but infrequent Chest Pains, and some dizziness and lightheadedness.
I had a confusing reaction to going outside into my grass-filled yard to take out the garbage. I suffered from increased breathing problems, which have since eased. I would have to guess that the 6 SLIT treatments today have temporarily sensitized me to whatever is outside, including, of course, Grass!
Now to make it through a long, lonely, uncomfortable night. I am really dreading the night, as I really expect more problems breathing and difficulty sleeping.
But...... if it works, then it is all good, and a little discomfort for one night will be a small price to pay for improved health over the long term.
If I don't post again until tomorrow morning, it will mean that I was able to get to sleep, otherwise I will be a very unhappy and uncomfortable SLIT experimenter.
Well.......Wish me luck..... lots of luck, I'll need it!
