Hello everyone, I just wrote this today...
Views From a Conservative
My fellow Americans, some of us post here on this forum to seek truth and understanding. What other reason would be more noble and wise? These debates stem from ideological principles nations rest upon whether they were founded on them or not.
What built this country? Was it government or the people? Our greatest achievements (and perhaps 99% of those achievments) came from individuals in the private sector whose advancements continue to contribute to the lives of people who did not partake in the creation of innovative companies and inventions.
This nation was founded upon limited government and checks and balances. Essentially, our Constitution was created to give power to the people and ensure the government would stay out of the way. It is safe to say all of us have had hard times in our lives but those who are wise endeavor to learn from our mistakes. Those struggles are supposed to ground us and serve as part of foundations that help us move ahead with our dreams and aspirations.
I used to think that good things come to those who wait. By the spirit of freedom and liberty through entrepreneurship we built the things we take for granted. No individual credited for these great innovations waited for someone to do it for them.
Freedom and liberty is granted by God and not by government. Government should guard and protect its people against tyranny. To do otherwise would violate our inalienable rights and erode our abilities to unlock our best potential. Perhaps that is why socialist nations and policies have slowly lead to entropy and poverty in the nations that have embraced it.
In an attempt to break free from their economic declines and stagnation, many countries have been attempting to inject some capitalism into their economies. China and Brazil are just two of them. On the other hand, America has continuously injected socialist policies into its system.
Unfortunately, many leaders do not wish to give up their power. We saw an example of this in Honduras were a socialist dictator attempted to break the law of that nation's constitution. Power in the hands of the few is always dangerous and inevitably corrupts. Power is sought by telling many people they will be taken care of once new government grabs hold of it.
Look that those people who have being taken care of by government and honestly ask yourself if you wish to join them. One of the reasons why communism and socialism does not work is, people do not respect unearned money and property like they would if they had actually earned it.
Another reason why communism and socialism doesn't work is governments continuously seek to perpetuate their power and thus tax their people to the point where people start to give up their desire to achieve success.
Another reason why communism and socialism doesn't work is the tentacles of overbearing governments reach into areas where they have no common sense experience and end up making far more mistakes than experienced individuals would have made. Just look at the recent H1M1 vaccination program. Government intervened and there was a shortage of that vaccine. Whether you believe vaccines are good or not is not the issue. The point is that it was another failed attempt by government to run something that should be ran by individuals who have experience in that field.
Liberalism is a concept that stems from an emotional state of mind and liberals want to be recognized as good people. What they don't understand is what is going on in their heads doesn't reflect what happens in the real world.
Liberalism has the best of intentions but it inevitably destroys the vision, dreams, hopes and aspirations of the people who wish to achieve and also takes down the invisible hands Adam Smith told us about. Therefore, in the end it results in the lack of desire for advancement and misery for the many.
Why do I have to do the common sense work for you? I just found this link below from the Washington Post. And I remember posting a link to you about education. We keep throwing money into these things out of compassion. Part of this is about government perpetuating itself and growing out of control. They will suck us dry if they keep doing this.
Remember that fiscal cartoon of Clinton and the Bushes about tax and spend liberals? It was just another example of something that was going on in the heads of liberals that didn't reflect reality. The reality was is congress was dominated by republicans since 1994. The reality now is we have liberals and socialists who are spending money like it falls out of the sky.
The 1994- 2000 republicans helped keep the deficit to low levels. Now, not every republican wants to balance the budget and a hand full democrats seek to balance budgets and even cut government spending. That is more reflective of reality. Get it through your head!!!

"It's increasingly obvious that Congress and the president (regardless of the party in power) will deal with the political stink bomb of an aging society only if forced."
The above quote from the link should be something that is taught in high schools across the nation. (I wouldn't be debating this if conservatism was taught in schools.) Government does not wish to tackle certain problems unlike businesses do. If business does not tackle certain problems then they go out of business unlike government. Using the same sarcasm liberals do about profitable businesses, this avoidance of real problems by government is just another evil but, your utopian government can't do anything wrong, right Tiki???
Fairly recently our vice president Joe Biden gave a speech and one of his quotes was, "I do not know what they (conservatives) stand for."
I think he knows what conservatives stand for and he and other liberals are afraid of it. It is the antithesis of the power socialist governments wish to accumulate.
Some of Conservatism is:
Less government and more freedom and liberty for individuals and balance the budget. Individuals capable of taking care of themselves and their immediate families and helping other individuals in temporary need. When this is accomplished, there is much less need for government and therefore, government cannot accumulate power over people and keep themselves in power.
Let your liberal friends know that the utopian ideas in their heads doesn't and never will reflect reality. This is because human nature doesn't change. The Consitution doesn't need to evolve because in 200 years, human nature has stayed the same.
Part of reality is: What is less abstract and more concrete. It is not based on feel-goodist ideas that attempt to equalize society. It is based on what works best. Conservatives know no perfect society can be produced or enforced by government. How can government make people become more moral?
If two parties are not the answer, then how many parties do we need? Certainly not one party. Unfortunately, third parties for conservatives split the conservative vote guaranteeing liberal victories.
We conservatives may disagree on certain points (assuming you are one as well) but what we should be doing is focusing on Conservatism.
Federal Reserve - I have been there. Yes they have a powerful influence. But what system is better and why? We can go back to the gold standard instead of debt money but what good would that do? Have you seen the price of gold lately? It closed around $1,150.00 an ounce. Just think of what the gold standard would do to prices. $10,000.00 an ounce maybe? Perhaps it would be better to monetize a basket of commodities.
Would you say there would be no up and down cycles in an economy without the Fed? I don't buy that line.
Yes, apparently they do print money out of the cost of the materials and they loan it on interest. What is your solution for this? Do you want to sit around feeling like a victim while millionaires are being created all of the time?
I would like to have more gold but does gold really have value? The only tanglible material things that have value is the air we breathe, food, land, and nutrients. I would trade gold for food if I really had too.
We need a Republic Sir.
We need IRV.
A 4 hour history lesson you won't learn in school, and why Dem or Rep means nothing anymore. Watch the whole thing before you make a judgement!
