i thought i would share a recent back and forth with a person who i will keep anonymous:
julie:
Just for my own curiosity,
What is your
SSKI used for ?
Does it contain
Iodine ?
Do you make it yourself ?
trapper:
the body needs 2 forms of
Iodine - elemental and the salt called potassium iodide(KI).
i make the
SSKI myself and bottle it for myself and others. each one ounce bottle contains 30 GRAMS of KI, about 75% of which is pure
Iodine by weight. yep, lots of iodine. each drops contains 25mg of
KI or about 19mg of iodine total.
the body doesnt need much I2(the diatomic molecule of two iodine atoms which is the natural state of pure iodine). it needs much more KI, especially in those with thyroid problems and to combat halogen imbalance(long story).
i also make a product which has 2% I2 in
SSKI (stands for saturated solution of potassium iodide). this is sort of a bridge between
Lugols and the SSKI/magnascent combo.
then there is magnascent, which breaks the bond in I2 and makes it more available to the body. this kind of skips a step and makes it easier on the body energy level. it adds energy instead of taking away.
julie:
I (have) one of your bottles marked sski and it was a clear liquid, thats what got me to thinking about your product. So the potassium
Iodide does not need to be broken up, atoms pulled apart in order to be digested into the body ? Why does the Internet say it is for use of the lungs ? thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, I know your busy helping others, It takes awhile for things to sink into my brain or understanding sometimes.. . .
trapper:
potassium
Iodide is EXACTLY what the thyroid uses. inside the body there is always reduction and oxidation. when KI, a reduced salt, hits the stomach acid then the opposite of reduction, oxidation, occurs and iodine is released. similarly, when iodine in any pure form gets into the body it is reduced into a salt and/or uptaken into cells and out of serum in two hours. this is true for the I2 in my 2% product or
Lugols or the nascent iodine. that is why when it comes to pure forms the most effective dosage is divided throughout the day and taken every one to two hours to keep iodine in circulation to be delivered where it is needed most.
SSKI can be taken as a stand alone supplement but it is more effective overall in conjunction with some elemental iodine. i recommend
KI and nascent both be taken as the ultimate compliment to the body's needs. i used to recommend only
Lugols but that has way too much I2 and became too expensive and hard to get after the august 2007 clamp down by the dea. thats good though because it caused me to release my dogma, which did NOT include the "detoxified" iodines at the time. lugols has way too much elemental and that form(I2) is harsh on the body, creating oxidative stress. for some reason, nascent iodine(I) does not have this quality and is definitely a more usable form. the body finds it downright delicious, in fact.
as i said, all it takes is an acid(low pH) and oxygen to break the bonds in potassium iodide. but thats only half of it. i mentioned halogen imbalance before. the other three halogens(the term means "salt maker") that we are unnaturally exposed to in abundance these days will displace the heavier iodine atom in a 1:1 ratio. do this. pour a little water in a clear glass. put a dropper full of
KI into the water. take some common chlorine bleach and put a drop of that into the glass. BOOM! just like that you will have an iodine colored liquid. the KI will now be potassium choride instead and the idoine, now booted out of the molecule is free in the water and shows its natural color.
my god, julie, they are trying to kill us all with tons of fluoride everywhere and bromide, lordy the bromide, in fire retardants and bread and soft drinks..... not to mention chlorine. chlorine hardens fat and can clog arteries in teenagers like they are 80 years old. i feel so sorry for swimmers.
so to combat this imbalance... - wait. when these halogens boot iodine out of tissues then the iodine is excreted in urine and you have what vulcanel has coined the term "halogen imbalance syndrome". this isnt just a deficiency in iodine, it takes a LOT MORE iodine, greater than that basic chemical theorem of 1:1, to overcome the natural displacement that takes place. we have been doing this with mega doses of iodine. magnascent is again beautiful in this regard. the body is alive and will fight to get the preferred halogen if given the chance. magnascent is so bioavailable that it can displace other halogens and be preferred over them much, much easier. this is especially true in the presence of a lot of gentle, reduced iodine in the form of, you guessed it, KI.
that ought to give you something to ponder for a while.
