I mean by "wonders" it seems to take away the residual fight or flight feelings and depression...how important is Vit C to the adrenal cascade? (Getting anal and technical there...)
Vitamin C is the most important nutrient for the adrenals, and the adrenals get priority over the entire rest of the body for the available vitamin C. So pretty important.
Dr. Lam and Wilson (in his book) say that one can't get the major doses of Vit. C from food, so supplementation is mandatory. I know you say that food sources are the best...
They are correct that food sources are lower, but they are overlooking a few critical points. First of all we do not need massive doses of vitamin C. How many people around the world use no supplements and still manage to remain very healthy? And if you want to look at an extreme look at where the term limeys came from. Sailors in the old days would develop scurvy because their diets did not provide much vitamin C. Of course that diet did not include things like fresh fruits and vegetables. To solve the problem of scurvy, which is a vitamin C deficiency, the sailors were given limes to eat for the vitamin C. Thus the term limeys and the problem solved. So how did limes solve the problem if foods are not a good source of vitamin C? Simple, vitamins are not needed in excessive amounts. Personally I think that people who take more than 2 grams (2,000mg) of vitamin C daily are overdoing it, and the megadosers are putting their health at risk. Secondly, there is a major difference in strength between natural vitamin C and synthetic vitamin C (ascorbic acid). For example the vitamin C from amla was found to be 12 times more active than its synthetic counterpart. This is actually true for many vitamins. Natural vitamin Es have been found to be stronger than their synthetic counterparts. So we don't need near as much natural sources of vitamins as we do from synthetic vitamins.
Lam recommends this liposomal delivery system, which supposedly gets absorbed by the small intestine, offering a "dramatically improves bio-availability and is by far the best oral form of vitamin C delivery system available."
He also says to take it in the asorbic acid form. Wilson says to take asorbic acid w/ bioflavanoids to be absorbed correctly.
I don't buy in to the liposomal delivery system concept. I think it is just more sales hype and the further they get away from natural the more I dislike it. And it is still a synthetic vitamin C, which is very unstable. As far as the small intestine claim goes where do they think vitamin C is absorbed from anyway? Food and nutrients are not absorbed from the stomach and once these things leave the stomach there is not a lot of choice of where to be absorbed from.
That is funny because the same thing came to my mind when the question was asked. Eskimos are feeding primarily on seal and whale. And in Iceland I saw the diet consisted primarily of fish, sheep and lots of sweets like candy and cake.
Fish only has traces of C. I cannot find any evidence of vitamin C in lamb except the brain, which they do eat (sheeps head and sheeps head cheese):

The eyeballs are also eaten, which apparently are also a source:

During the summer there are a lot of greens that can provide C such as sour duck weed. Mushrooms were also pretty abundant over there and provide a little vitamin C as well.
I should have clarified that those of us with advanced adrenal fatigue need vitamin C...in larger doses.
On a website which sells Amla powder it says the following about the "amount" of vitamin C Amla actually contains. Are the correct in their statement? I am pasting their entire description, although I realize it's lenghty.
This same question was brought up a while back. And even though much of the effect of amla is from its tannins, it is also a good source of vitamin C. And the vitamin C has 12 times the activity of the synthetic vitamin C, so it is not necessary to have massive amounts of C in the fruits to have a lot of benefits.
Vitamins are co-enzymes, which require enzymes to function. Most of these are provided by food, so vitamins should either be taken in food forms (papaya, watercress, etc.) or with meals.
