Thankyou very much.
I have been offered my own board several times by moderators, but have always said no. Mainly because I often have very little time, and sometimes can go weeks or months without ever going on line. I have been a lot better about keeping up lately, but I am neglecting some very important projects I need to finish.
Second reason is that I like picking and choosing what posts I respond to. To often I read posts where people are diagnosing themselves wrong, especially with things that are highly unlikely such as parasites, acidity, or poisoning from mercury fillings. I don't like to waste my time with people like this. I have found in the past that even after spending a lot of time explaining everything to them they still want to argue because they want to believe their own original belief. Kind of like when I used to post on a hepatitis board a long time ago. There were several people on their that loved their "pity parties" as I called them when they would spend all day posting about how their viral load was up. When I explained to them why viral load neither proves the presence of a particular virus, nor viral activity they went on the warpath against me. When I said the viral load test was not a diagnostic tool but rather a sales tool they about took my head off. It did not matter how much evidence I presented to back this up. That was their means to attention so they did want to hear the facts. What really got me is why would anyone choose to believe they are infected with very dangerous virus based on tests that have no way to confirm this. Their diagnosis was consuming them as they spent all day, every day on that board. I thought I was offering them some hope by explaining in great detail to them why there are NO conventional lab tests that can prove the presence of a particular virus. Instead they treated me like I was the Grim Reaper coming to get them or something.
So I am a lot more careful about who I respond to. It is too much a waste of time to explain things to people who are set on what they want to believe is what they have. Even if it is clearly or unlikely the case.
On the other hand there is so much misinformation I see posted on these boards and I do want to correct it. But I have already been banned by a lot of boards for doing this. Such as the liver flush support forum. I guess they feel there is only one way to flush the liver, and it is with olive oil and citric acid, which really does not work. So I have been thinking as a compromise getting a board where I will mainly post about diseases and alternative medicines, but for the most part not accept questions about health.
personally i don't agree with moreless on the lemon juice thing , i don't think it becomes alkaline in the body but rather it leeches alkaline minerals to counteract it's strong acidity.
I agree.
maybe try more bitter foods.have you heard of 'swedish bitters' ?
Yes, but I prefer Grape Bitters. Swedish Bitters contain some harsh laxatives and camphor. Grape Bitters do not have either, and they are a lot cheaper. About $6 for a 2 ounce bottle.
I've done a dozen of them, always flushed out stuff and am glad for that, but I've always felt that what I really needed was something more than flushing the bile ducts. I take Liver detox and rejuvenative formula by Now and N-A-C, dandelion tea, turmeric sometimes. I do evoo/lemon juice and water in the morning to set up the proper ph for digestion. Do you have any suggestions to further help my liver?
One of my favorite liver herbs is schisandra berry. And bitters for cleansing the liver.
I seem to digest foods just fine, but continue to have candida. Oh and I take digestive enzymes as well as good oils.
I posted some suggestions for Candida a few places on this board. And I don't like the idea of people taking digestive enzymes long term. When we substitute for the body's production of something the body will shut down its own production.
Thanks!
Here is a copy of a message I sent to someone else asking about the flushes. It also discusses bitters, which will cleanse the liver and help get rid of stones.:
The liver flushes involving the olive oil, lemon juice and magnesium sulfate do not flush out gallstones. The so called "stones" are an insoluble complex formed from a reaction between the sterols found in the olive oil and cholesterol from food or bile salts in the intestines. This is why these "stones" float instead of sinking like real gallstones. It is actually impossible to pass most real gallstones since they tend to much larger than the bile ducts, even when dilated with the magnesium sulfate. It would be like trying to fit a golf ball through the eye of a needle.
The reason people feel better after this "flush" is because the olive oil helps to stimulate the gallbladder so the bile is not stagnant. And bile stagnation is a common contributor to gallstone formation.
If people really have gallstones then it is best to dissolve them rather than try to pass them. Trying to pass them can cause stones to lodge in the bile ducts, which requires emergency surgery.
Most gallstones form as a result of more cholesterol than the bile can dissolve, so the excess cholesterol precipitates out leading to stone formation. Women are more prone to gallstone formation due to their hormones. Estrogen stimulates the release of cholesterol in to the gallbladder, while progesterone is a smooth muscle relaxant which increases stagnation of bile increasing stone formation.
Bile itself is a fat emulsifier, and it is the high lecithin content (about 80% lecithin) that gives bile its emulsification properties. Therefore increasing bile helps to prevent and dissolve gallstones. Bile formation can be improved by getting plenty of fiber in the diet. Bitters also help. As bitter tasting herbs hit the bitter receptors of the tongue the vagus nerve is stimulated. This in turn kicks up stomach acidity, bile secretion, and pancreatic enzyme release. This is why these are often sold under the name digestive bitters. They also stimulate the liver to flush, so it is very important to drink plenty of water throughout the day when using bitters. This flushing of the liver will also help with hormone regulation as the liver breaks down excess hormones including estrogen and progesterone.
Lecithin granules will also help by providing a building block for the bile. Make sure to use the granules, not the softgels or liquids, which are highly diluted with soy oil. The granules provide more lecithin because they are deoiled concentrating the lecithin. Recommended dose is 1 tablespoon 3 times daily with meals.
Finally, it is helpful to ingest SMALL amounts of good oils, like olive oil, with each meal to facilitate gallbladder contractions to prevent stagnation of the bile.
If you also read the testimonials of these people they also say they float. Real gallstones do not float, they sink. Secondly most of the "stones" are way larger than the bile ducts are capable of expanding. You cannot force a basketball through the eye of a needle.
This also brings up the point that it is possible to force a real stone in to the bile ducts if real stones are present. If a stone gets lodged it is going to require emergency surgery. It is not worth the risk. There are simple and safe ways to prevent or dissolve gallstones such as bitters and lecithin.
As far as differences, this is easy to explain. What other cholesterol sources are the sterols reacting with? Cholesterol from food? The chemistry of the other sources can easily alter the texture and color of the sterol-cholesterol complexes. And particles will get trapped in the formation, like insects getting trapped in amber.
If you look back through the liver flush forum someone posted they actually had the "stones" tested by a lab and they came back as not being real gallstones.
As far as feeling better, ingestion of any dietary oil is going to contract the gallbladder preventing stagnation of the gallbladder provided the hormones are in balance.
The results from my recent flush over the weekend were very similar to the last 4 or so flushes, not really any "stones" larger than a small pea.
WHen I first started flushing I got hundreds of stones, many larger than a grape, some crusty, various colors. Now, since my bile ducts are pretty well flushed out, I don't get much.
If Hver's theory that the "stones" are formed by drinking the mixture is accurate, then why the variation in results?
Also, I've passed things after taking the 2nd dose of epsom salts, even BEFORE drinking the mixture.
Everyone is free to have their own opinion, but I know the things I've flushed were not formed overnight and my experience totally debunks Hver's theory.
Not really. Olive oil is not the only source of sterols. Sterols are actually found in many foods and herbs, just in varying amounts. Same goes for cholesterol. Then there is the fact that some foods stimulate the gallbladder to release bile. The bile contains cholesterol that can react with sterols from the food you consume. Being that it takes time for all this to pass through the digestive system what you ate the day before, or even several days before can affect the outcome.
Why the different textures and colors? Impurities are a big factor in both. Think in terms of gemstones for example. Let's say sapphires. Sapphires come in clear, blue, yellow, pink, red, purple, green, black, brown and all shade in between. Yet they are all aluminum oxide. They can even have different crystallization patterns. Impurities that are trapped influence the color and create singular or multiple nucleation points altering the shape/texture. The same applies to the sterol-cholesterol complexes that people are passing they think are gallstones.
The Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) used in the "liver flush" is actually a laxative, so it can promote expulsion of the sterol-cholesterol complexes that have been in the intestines a shorter time. The time spent in the intestines also affects the color and possibly the texture.
The fact that so many of these so-called stones float, especially the big ones, is proof positive that they are not real gallstones. This is further evidenced by the fact the bile ducts are INCAPABLE of expanding wide enough to allow passage of real gallstones the size of some of those people show pictures of, even if they took an entire box of magnesium sulfate. Very tiny stones or sludge may pass with the gallbladder contractions from oils in the diet, but nothing as large as people are claiming are being passed.
